2/3/2025 7:37pm have you ever heard of that happening to anyone though? Without the brace your knee or another part of your leg would buckle/break before ripping your leg off or whatever your saying.

2/3/2025 7:33pm you would be surprised at how little evidence there is that supports the claim that knee braces prevent injuries. I blew my knee out with a pair of braces on along with boot anchors and was amazed at the lack of evidence that they actually have any benefit. I think they’re good for someone with an unstable knee but I don’t think they will prevent an acl or meniscus tear.

2/3/2025 7:32pm I was wondering why knee brace advocates are so hardcore and I came to the realization that they have a bias based on how much money they spent. Of course you don't want to admit that you $1,000 knee braces don't work, but don't come on here spreading misinformation and leading someone to believe that if they invest that kind of money that they're not going to get hurt. Even Donjoy is claiming that they're the ONLY knee brace that works. As I said, It's personal preference. Threads like this are almost as hostile as helmet safety threads.

2/3/2025 7:30pm the best way to prevent knee injuries is to build strength, not give your knee a crutch by using a knee brace. exercise your knee like you are rehabbing it. if you can build up strength in all the little stabilizer muscles around the knee you are doing the most to protect your self. Braces can abosultely prevent some injuries (hyperextension) but that's not usually how ACL's tear. ACL reconstruction and rehab has come a long way too since the 80's and 90's and it's not the death knell it used to be.

2/3/2025 7:30pm I agree with Ping here. There’s no good evidence knee braces prevent ligament tears. Of course, it would be nice to have more data. Given no evidence for a benefit I lean towards the Ryno idea of maximizing your range of motion so you can have proper technique so you crash less.

1/17/2025 9:03am I think the notion of them being a full year behind on inventory might be a bit extreme. I’d expect them to have around 3-6 months of inventory available for sale at any given time, and in 2023 their worldwide units sold number was around 380,000. So you’d sort of expect them to have at least 150K units for sale, give or take, and that would mean that they might have 100K-125K ‘extra’ inventory units, or about 4 months or so. Not quite as drastic of an overstock situation as it sounds like if you start with 0 inventory as...

1/8/2025 9:38am I started this post in 2020. Just wanted to update for those w same issue. Finally got knee replaced 02/23. First 4 weeks very painful, thought surgery went wrong. At 3 months finally felt ok. At 6 months got the ok to ride (but dr said just don’t fall lol). Waited another month and did some Moto’s. No pain felt great. Mnt biking ok too. Tho it’s uncomfortable to try and jog (so I don’t). Glad I finally got it done.

6/12/2024 9:57am Ignoring all the other potential issues with a swap like this, it's important to note that the fork tube diameters are very different between WP and KYB/Showa. The KYB/Showa tubes do slip right in to the KTM clamps, however, that doesn't mean it's correct! The upper clamp diameter is 53.85mm on a KYB/Showa and 54mm on WP. That's not huge, and the top clamp doesn't matter nearly as much as the bottom, so you can get away with this, but it's still not right and you'll get less clamping force on the tube. The lower clamp diameter is 59.25 on...

5/1/2024 8:34am Don't trust eBay listings for fitment. There were different bore sizes though out those years. The '06-'08 were 10mm, the '09-'13 were 9mm, and the '14-'19 are 10mm. You have to go back to 2004 for an 11mm. I'm not sure about lever ratios... I think the new stuff is 15mm. There's a lot of info here: https://www.oppracing.com/category/1012-brembo-oe-oe-front-brake-master…

2/27/2024 12:23pm I think it would be a phenomenal advantage to have a thumb brake, for both right hands turns (where you can’t reach the rear brake pedal) and also left hand turns (because your foot is under the pedal). Of course, though, like holeshot gadgets, it’s no longer an advantage when everyone has them... I had this idea 25 years ago, and I got around to building one up a few years ago, but there are a host of problems. Rekluse do sell a rear brake kit but it’s a finger lever, not a thumb lever so that doesn’t really work...

bmxr Added a comment about feature Motocross Knee Brace Comparison: Full Test
3/7/2023 9:31am Really great article. Well written and thorough. Of these braces, I only have experience with the CTi OTS and I have to say, I actually threw them away. Ironically, I only got them because the folks at CTi could not make me a set of CTi Custom Pro Sports that fit properly and did not hurt, so they gave me the OTS after they gave up trying. In any case, I gave up an returned to using my old DonJoy Defiance III's, which are my third set since around 1990. Really excellent prescription brace! That said, I am looking into...
