Those of you that have had it done.....
What is your experience with popping?
Holy shit, and feels like 4 or 5 pops every step.
It does not feel loose, just popping worse then before I had it done.
Dr said everything looked good, but the more I am on it, the louder it feels.
Some articles I read online said it might take a year to subside.....

Unfortunately your results may vary. My right knee never pops, my left, a couple of times a week. Never got better, just a bit worse. I am ignoring it until my leg falls off.
had my right knee replaced in 2016 after 40 years of 'maintaining" it. My Primary Care Dr. was a Sports Medicine specialist too and I'd been with him for 21 at that point. My surgery was successful but rehab/PT start delayed 1 month. My knee "clicked" several times daily while walking but didn't seem to affect anything. Mentioned it to my Dr 1 day and he said it was a Good thing. Means the knee components are moving freely as designed. When I got well into PT and back to my old exercise and normal leg workout habits the clicking was less and less noticeable. I'm pretty sure it decreased after I was able to build the Quad and Hammy back into shape after the long layoff on the leg exercises. All these years later the knee has held up perfectly to all activities (including riding - less nowadays with age and other injuries) and I still sometimes get periods of clicking that come and go. I just remember Dr. saying it was a good thing and carry on with normal living. Good Luck.
So,
Recovery is going good. 8 weeks and a couple days since surgery and everything was going great until about 2 weeks ago.
Full extension, able to bend it to 126 degrees.
New issue is sciatica.
Have had bouts of it in the past but dang. I don't know if it is because my gait is off a little bit or what but I am having to sit on an ice pad about every 3 hours to be able to get where I can go back out and do stuff.
In the past it has mostly been hip/buttock pain. Now I have that plus leg weakness and calf pain.
Anybody else had tkr exacerbate sciatica?

Sorry I am stupid when it comes to medical body parts names. Does that pain go from your ass to behind your knee and to the outside of your knee? I had bad pain in my IT band and hamstring about that same time frame and it was due to my gait.
Since my knee was bad my feet were aimed out like a duck when I walked to help compensate and I kept that same posture after surgery. PT had me aim my feet straight and that helped with the pain over a few weeks and my gait has changed overall now getting me somewhat normal when I walk.
I still deal with swelling, but pain is nowhere near as bad anymore.
Had it flare up something wicked when I had my ACL done. Had the op about five months ago, took about two months after that for it to flare right as I started walking more and cycling more in the gym etc. Basically, scar tissue post-op and also changes in your gait etc will cause it to kick off for a while. My physio was really good, massaged my back and my legs a bit and basically told me to stay active and keep it moving. It was absolute f***ing agony for a while but after a week or so of cycling every day it finally calmed down and settled out, been good since.
In short version: It's normal, it happens, keep going with the rehab and it will calm down. I'm onto heavy weights and strengthening now, with only jumps and cuts while running to go before I'm all cleared to go. Likely 7/8 months out total at 44 which is not bad going.
What kind of hardware are you guys getting? Any of you done the robotic surgery? Have you heard any hardware to stay away from?

I had my knee replaced April of 2022, I'm 46 years old now. I'm not sure what sciatica is, but my issues are that my legs feel strained all the time like I just worked out if that makes sense. Car rides make both legs and both hips get sore. Some times tendons on the replaced leg side will tense and feel weird. I have good motion, just get weird tweaks every so often.
Thanks for the update!
April will be 3 years and lets just say that it has been challenging and not as great as I was expecting and with the freezing temps we have been having this week it is still uncomfortable. 5-10 minutes in the Hot tub definitely helps.
I'm getting my right knee replaced in two days. I'm definitely nervous about the recovery. I've had numerous surgeries and been through recovery before, but this one has me on edge a bit. I was riding up until a few weeks ago when it finally got cold and snowy here and I'm already looking forward to getting back on the bike. For those of you that have had it done, how long before you were back to riding? How soon were you able to get on a spin bike?
I got a partial knee replacement 1 year ago. They took my kneecap, flipped it upside down, screwed in two plastic sliders, and epoxied a track on my femur - I'm essentially a closet door now. I was skiing in 2 weeks and by mid summer I was doing everything at full throttle. Highly recommend if you have kneecap problems. I'm 38 btw.
