Whether Stark sticks around is absolutely something that a buyer has to consider. I totally get that. But I'm more talking about the bike itself. I just am not going to assume that because Honda has the name that they have, it means their electric mx bikes are going to be a better product. They are also invested in selling gas bikes and probably can only invest so much into each project. Stark had 1 vision and made a ground-up bike that appears to have delivered what they promised. It's purpose built. Every review they seem blown away by the...

I have been involved with this 'side project' from Yamaha. Based on an excisting YZ frame, a (battery technology) startup company developed this electric bike: https://www.emx-powertrain.com/ This project in already running for over 3 years, and I think it looks pretty cool. But looking at the specs, the Varg is already outperforming and the EMX XF30 is not even on the market.

Just the bare rolling chassis of the Varg is on another level compared to what is offered by other OEMs.

Yep fully understand the difference 👍 we don’t use kmh here in the UK and I use my GPS data logger for accuracy. Will do a video when I get a chance.

I'm not so sure about that. The prototype we saw from Honda and Yamaha (which I believe was some sort of partnership with another company) was just an existing chassis from a gas bike, with an electric motor shoved in there. Stark at least appears to have designed the bike ground-up around the battery and motor. And it seems like so far the reviews claim that they nailed the handling and ergos. I think that is super impressive. I'm not saying the traditional brands can't do something similar but we don't know. The Stark seems way ahead of what we've...

Somewhere buried in one of the Varg threads someone already refered to the diffusion of innovation theory, depending on your risk tolerance, skepticism and aversion to change, you'd fall into one of these 5 categories: innovator, early adopter, early majority, late majority, laggard. Depending on your age when did you get your first microwave / VCR / DVD player / cellphone / smartphone ? Or more to the point: aren't you curious to try a Stark Varg? By definition, not everyone is an early adopter, and there's no problem with that. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diffusion_of_innovations

That’s separate GPS I use, I am one of the Beta testers and I gave up trusting the stark phone as soon as I did one lap round my own track 🤣 I have over 200 hrs on my bike !! And the ECU is registering just over 4 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Will do a video especially for you, my Omega spec 701 rally build and my modified T7 both clock max just over 120 on the gps on the same track. It’s my driveway so I know the surface like the back of my hand and I like to go fast, slow technical stuff and I just fall over 🤪🤣👍👍

I have had 108mph uphill on rough forest track my gps and the Varg was still accelerating but I had to slow for a corner as it’s my driveway 🤪🤣

I can only say so much due to agreement with them on my visit but the battery pack is a part that requires lots of stages. Some of those are very difficult to automate. The new production lines going in will be the key to really boosting production numbers.

Taking shifting away is a death blow? Tell that to the thousands and thousands of Surron riders who never rode a motorcycle in their life before getting on their E-bike, this market is going to do nothing but bring more and more people in. I mean hell, with the flick of a switch I was able to mellow the power out and my girlfriend at the time was able to safely ride it around and have a ton of fun, try doing that with your 250f with someone who has never been exposed to motorcycles before. Not everyone has to...

The main goal of Stark is to develop the fastest bike around a track, which is exactly the point of racing. MotoE and FormulaE don't race with MotoGP and Formula1, respectively, because they would be ridiculous at their current performance level. That's why separate class makes perfect sense, to develop technology in a competitive and controlled environment. Ducati MotoE is a piece of art but absolutely no match for the Desmosedici, that's the way it is right now, and it will stay that way for quite some time. Separate class for the Varg makes absolutely no sense whatsoever: they are...

The Varg is already getting great results in France SX, Arenacross UK, Austrian Super Enduro... Next season there will be much more of them in national competitions, at one point, maybe a couple of years from now, AMA will need to work it out or they'll be the only championship excluding them which will not make for great publicity. Next month there will already be more Vargs than Altas out there in the world, we know Stark at the moment has an international distribution network about 200 dealers, genuine question: how many Alta dealers were there and were there just...

Please spare a thought for the trolls, they have been going through hard times lately. I mean, the Varg picked up 4 podiums this weekend in Arenacross UK with Thomas Do, now Stark is shipping 500 bikes per month, tough times indeed. Soon the only claim they will have left will be "but they cannot complete 30 min+2 laps in AMA". That should keep them going for at least a couple of years, so everyone is happy I guess?

Except that they're lying through their teeth about what actually happened regarding the test in Spain and about why they chose not to go, there's an entire thread that sets the record straight. You guys who regard MXA as the gospel definitely provide evidence to the notion that if you say things with enough conviction you will always be able to deceive at least a sizable portion of the population, regardless of the validity of what is being said.

That’s not a realistic build time for the packs, the robotic testing and placement is the fastest part of the process, I know as I have seen it with my own eyes. They are going to be increasing production significantly but only with the new production lines that are being installed.
