aees Added a reply to KTM 450 Piston size

I would for sure measure the cylinder. I was at a C-piston at 100h+ on my 2013 SXF. Measure the cylinder and you dont have to worry about it being 1 or 2. Vertex and Prox has C (cast). Wiseco has only one size if i remember correctly (forged type). I prefer forged all day long, but at certain wear-limits...

How many hours? If more than 75h you should get it measured for sure. If you have a type 2, then my guess is you need a C-piston.

Sounds balanced. im 200lbs, 48 rear spring, 4.8 springs in front with 420ml oil and no preload. pretty much std clickers. 107-8 sag on revalved OEM shock. I want to run 105 sag so will go back to oem valving and try with standard 450 Ohlins ttx flow to get there.

Yea, he really showed that fire on Monster Energy Cup on the Honda... He then went from being a 20-10 guy 2015, 2016, 2017, to top 3 by changing his mind. Bike has nothing to do with it.

Im super sensitive to fork height (easilly notice 1mm difference). I went back and fwd between my AER48 being 950mm and AER48 CV being 945mm. Could not feel they where 5mm different. Even with same pressures. Same between my CV spring now and AER48, i can not feel a difference in ride height if i place them both on second...

You are making assumptions that every rider can ride at 100% of its speed on all type of settings. That is false statement i claim. You can find exceptions, sure, but in general a rider rides as fast as he can, on the given setup. If you need to go faster, something needs to change. You can have days off...

The reason is bike setting is important is that riders have a certain riding style and behavior on the bike. Poor match = poor results. Again, Roczen and Tomac, and Barcia being prime examples over last 2 years. Name one rider that "mentally has gone from outside top 5, to inside on the same equipment, same settings? Tomac vs Herlings...

I think it is setup related with Hill. Reason why they are trying so many different things during weekend (testing). JS7 does not like to train so he has himself to blame. You make mistakes when you are not in shape. I agree with Matthes, this "It is mental" needs to stop. The top 5--8 riders, that can go quick...

Sorry that is not a fair statement. Could say it is 80% bike and 20% rider. Both need to gel. Barcia success at A1 is 100% bike(+rider)-related.

It is the combo of (bike+rider)+(team+funding+access to parts) I'm my view JGR has only taken on already lost riders, besides Hill, or medioker riders. And then signing up bikes that is least of interest where only a handful riders in the world could make it on. So not fair to say it is teams fault. If they had funding to...

With 46nm shock spring for my 200lbs i could run 104-105mm sag. With the 48nm i could not, armpump directly with AER and CV spring (2017, 4.8, 420ml). But that was with a revalved stiffer rear shock. So gona try now with stock valving, 48nm and 105 sag. What setup in rear you running?

Yea, but kind of the same as with engine mounts, yes changes, but geometri? No. Have little to do with the length of the forks. Wonder why they did the change frame? I ordered a Acerbis skid plate for 2016/2017 models, and it fitted my 2017 SXF.

The guys at WP in Cali did not even know what sag was printed in the manual 2016. They where like question marks when i went there and asked what sag they run on the new 2016. We (WP) run 98 for supercross, and 102 for MX. Really, the manual says 110mm they asked me. Laughing Dizzy

108 sag you probably need 3 line. 105 second line. Depends on static sag/preload (+HSC) compared to your weight. I dont like going under 2nd line, chassi just drags the ground.

First of all, The AER fork is 950mm. 4CS fork is 940mm. Fork stroke is 310mm for AER fork, and 300mm for 4cs fork. So 10mm difference. Why would this be a problem to run 4CS fork on 2017? The 2016 SXF chassi is IDENTICAL and it worked with the shorter 4cs fork. Sure some rider dropped it down and...

There is no chassi difference between 16 SXF and 17. So run them as you did on your 2016. If anything, theoretically, they did go the other direction lowering the front (or raising the rear...) between 16 and 17 since they went from 110 sag to 105. Some minor adjustment on shock was made between 16 and 17 but nothing...
