ACBraap Added a reply to Motocross Track For Sale

Wow, in Seattle $50K wouldn't buy a 5000 foot lot. Let alone the legal fees to keep riding after the neighbors started complaining.

+1 for DVR. I start an hour or two after the race start, and FF through, except from gate drop to checkers. Make the entire show about an hour and a half. I don't turn the sound off though, the errors from Ralph & co are too funny to miss. I don't know if I'll go to another one live...

ACBraap Added a reply to What happens to tear-offs?

I've seen flyers for off road events that explicitly stated no tear offs allowed. Makes a lot of sense for events on public land.

FB friends, but haven't seen him in person since the mid 90s (as in, Keith was married, but no kid yet). I've seen videos of his kid on dirt and road, he's very good. Keith was a fun guy to race with. He did three wheelers before quads, then did quads, motorcycles off and on the entire time too.

ACBraap Added a reply to Energy - PowerBar Gel Blasts?

3/13/2015 1:54pm
Power Gel Blasts are pretty good. I like them on occasion for mtb/road. I don't use gels or blocks nearly as much anymore myself, and have had MUCH better luck in long events like 50 -100 mile mtb races using Hammer Perpetuem and bars. I also like Hammer gel when I use gels. Hammer marketing can be over the top...

Getting way off topic for this thread, but I disagree that quads are inherently more dangerous than a motorcycle. If anything, they are safer. BUT that is contingent on them being treated with respect and riding within ones skill limits, helmets being worn, etc. IME, the type of accidents and injuries could be grouped by mx, where quads generally crash...

ACBraap Added a reply to Indy SX predictions

Yes, and yes. I can't remember the last time Honda had the potential to sweep the podium like this, yet it's like only one can ride well per night.

Facts are facts, but your facts are mostly opinion. You'd have really hated when a few of rode the before the hill class at Albany on quads - with the motorcycles. From riding both, the only tracks I've ridden in the NW where it seemed to me quads could really mess up lines would be Washougal (edit: and Woodland). Albany...

On two wheels, I only saw him ride a 250. On 4, he rode 250s mostly, and then mid 90s or so did ATV nationals on a Banshee. That was after he'd won the MTGP title and moved to CA. Pretty sure he rode motorcycles a lot before his time on quads too. Did quite a few road trips with...

Actually he started on quads (LT250 Suzuki with an RM80 engine), then, like a couple of us (me, Eichner, DiBrino), road bikes and quads at the same time, and then eventually focused on quads. He and Eichner kept racing much longer than the rest of us.

ACBraap Added a reply to Is KR done for the year?

That happened on a group mtb ride I was on... the guy didn't make it. Wasn't a good day. Good on you for doing what you could.

ACBraap Added a reply to Thoughts on ATV's racing Daytona?

3/11/2015 3:35pm
They are different than two wheelers. More fun in some areas, less in others. I used to race both on the same day and same track. (full size) Motorcycles jump and handle rough stuff better, especially if its uneven (remember quads have wheels sized like 80s or smaller). Quads handle flat corners and hardpack much, much better. Quads are MUCH...

ACBraap Added a reply to supercross attendance

3/3/2015 2:44pm
This. That idiot screaming is absolutely the worst part of attending live. Personally, I'd have been more likely to attend this year without Stewart and Villopoto, as it seemed like racing would have been better, and so far it mostly has been. But my tivo and couch let me watch without commercials, downtime, expensive parking, drunk flatbill bros, or Lurch...

ACBraap Added a reply to Mitch Payton's comment on the FIM

2/26/2015 5:23pm
I don't think he blatantly cheated, but just for arguments sake, suppose he was*. The problem with the FIM signing on with WADA is the one size fits all approach to penalties. In endurance sports like cycling or marathons, EPO is like running a big bore. It's a massive difference, the difference between winning and losing. If JS had a...
