Reported over 50,000 tickets sold for back to back weeks in atlanta with terrible weather and nascar on the same weekend this past one. I don't understand why you think attendance is down. Anyone with half a brain would expect to be more empty seats in atlanta this year because of two races. If it was one race it would have been 70,000 there.

For the people complaining about ticket prices atlanta has stayed the same for the last 15 years. If you are buying them on stubhub thats your own fault.

For me it's 2 things. Location, which is Detroit. The city is a pit. The second is cost. Too much for a family.

This has been discussed many times this year.

1). Ticket Prices in some areas have gone through the roof. (Anaheim being one) and in the last few years as everything else has gone up and up people finally are saying that's it.

2). Killer TV package. So with us og fans now in our late 40's early 50's we prefer our 60" LCD and the leather couch over loud mouth drunk idiots spilling beer on our backs and asking why RC isn't out there.

3). No RV and no JS does have an impact. How much? Who knows. But you just can't remove a sport top two riders and think it won't. It does.

4). The weather back east has been a bit of an issue there. So if ticket prices have not gone up like they have here I can see the weather playing a part specially where the TV is airing the race live.

That number 50,000 includes scalper purchases. So it is not accurate in regards to how many tickets were sold to the attending public. But I bet some of those scalpers had killer seats!

Combine that with no JS or RV and live coverage leaves the stadium looking 2/3 filled. 40$ for parking, wow.Glad I live in Boise.
Parking for the endurocross is 5$.
Good thing you don't live in an NFL city.

How many people in attendance do you guys think are "hardcore fans"?

But that means Feld still made their money. 100,000 total tickets sold means they will probably try and race two again. I hope they go back to one atlanta and race in Charlotte or Nashville in April.

I think it has a little to do with it, but really who cares if it does? It was gonna happen at some point soon no matter what.

Bubba and RV have NOTHING to do with it. If your not going to the races for that reason, then your not a fan. The racing has been awesome this year.

Yes the racing has been awesome.

Yes they do have something to do with it. How much? We will never know.

This. That idiot screaming is absolutely the worst part of attending live.

Personally, I'd have been more likely to attend this year without Stewart and Villopoto, as it seemed like racing would have been better, and so far it mostly has been. But my tivo and couch let me watch without commercials, downtime, expensive parking, drunk flatbill bros, or Lurch screaming.

All that I know is that when trying to order tickets on ticketmaster the night before the race they said no tickets were available and the ticket/seat chart showed at least 85% of the seats sold so I dont know how to interpret that.

I do wonder though if in the two races at Atlanta, if there were as many at all 3 Anaheim races combined? I heard attendance at Anaheim was averaging 23,000 per race?

Its a down year for attendance in my opinion and people can blame it on what they want to, but I still stick to the crappy weather at least for Atlanta attendance. I dont care if you are from the north and can drive a dragster down Pikes Peak covered in ice, people around here aren't willing to take the risk to travel a long distance when the roads are dangerous. People post pictures saying "this is as bad as it got" here...but really, thats more than enough to cause a 100 car pile up, not here in Georgia this year, but could have last year and definitely could have done that in any state north of here this year. Why risk life and limb for something they could watch on TV from the decent warmth of their home?

The deal is, it will be made back up next year if they decide to do two Atlanta races again...but I have said it before and will say it again, they need to do it around February 26th, like normal or whatever that last weekend in February falls on and THEN run Atlanta again before the races head back out west, later in the season. Hell id prefer Atlanta the first race and second to the last race but that will never happen.

I do think however, had RV and JS been racing, it would have made a difference though I am not sure how much, again based on the weather alone.

Better yet, when they get the new stadium built do the first one there and then go throw some dirt on homeplate at the new Braves stadium for the second race when it opens!

Very little I would think. I'm from the NW so obviously a fan of RV.....but I'd be damned if I missed Seattle or Washougal because he isn't there. When I hear of people missing a race because their favorite rider isn't there........that is truly not a fan of this sport. Just a fan of a certain rider is creepy.....sounds like a stalker to me. That's why I say stay home.

Because who wants to watch the one line basic tracks that are flooding SX now... look at the sx tracks of the early 2000's compared to this year, way less entertaining. JS7 is the only rider that can turn a triple triple double into a quad quad and without him what is there to watch?

Yea !! Yea!!!

and then Feld loses enough money and sells it off to someone who turns it into Nuclear Cowboys... oh wait, that's already Feld...so all they have to do is see a loss...

Woo hoo!! if you aren't "core" stay home!! don't buy tickets!!

Great idea. Now I'll bet tomorrow you're talking about ways to "cultivate and grow the sport". Hahaha

There are a lot of other great riders to watch.

For the good of the sport I want everyone to attend for whatever reason they want to, even if they are only a fan of RV, JS, Dungey, Reed or any other rider. Providing they are not acting like douche bags.

I'm interested to see how well the turnout at indy will be. I've never heard them advertise/talk it up so much on the radio before. For the last 3 weeks or so its been during every single commercial break and the radio stations having ticket give a ways and such
Typically heavy advertising indicates that many tickets remain unsold. For an event that sells out weeks prior to the event date advertising may be minimal or nonexistent.

I would go to 6 or 7 SX races a year in the past and it made no difference who was racing and who wasn't, I don't care if JS or RV is there or not. I will go to 2 or maybe 3 this year and it is usually a decision a few weeks out and if I can find cheap airfare. I don't go to as many now because its more convenient to watch it on my big screen with out the travel hassle, but it is still a good time when I do go.

Yeah we used to do all Anaheims, Phoenix, SD, Salt Lake and Vegas. Didn't matter who was racing or the points. But we are now only hitting one or two. Money is my problem.
