And, yes, I...also...would hope they go after us.
More people racing is always a good thing, to me.

I was head-flagger all morning by the way and I hate to tell you guys this, but the ATVs have really good following when it comes to pretty girls and enthusiastic fans. I was impressed on both counts.
Let early to fly home and get back to my real job(s) but the whole event, from SX to minis to WMX to amateurs and then ATVs, was a great groups of folks, and the speedway enjoyed seeing the very big crowds back in the infield. If you were there yourself, you know what I mean.

They don't need to be adjusted that often, although the limiter screw needs to be taken out so buddies don't mess with you.
Pit Row
Introduce an experimental MX race at Daytona where practically anything goes (very few rules). This would be an exhibition race operating outside of the current AMA. Let the two strokes, four strokes, electrics, turbo motors, rotarys, etc. all compete against each other. Don't limit suspension, engine technology or fuel and see what shows up. Even less rules than the MEC and it'd be done at a major bike centric event as Daytona on a professionally built and safe track. If the expense of the track set-up is being shared among others, as it evidently is now, maybe it would reduce the expense of putting on an event like this cause it would have to be low budget. The track would need to be tamed substantially from the SX design used as I'd envision some homebuilt machinery might show and I can't imagine there'd be any top riders competing (no purse, contract restrictions). Perhaps the RCU track design would work. I think it'd be neat to see and might provide a means for some of the smaller manufacturer's, who currently can't contest the AMA Pro events, get some exposure.
The idea for this stems from the "Battle of the Twins" road race that used to be held during Bike Week. One could see some really neat twin cylinder bikes show up; BMW's, Ducati's, Guzzi's, Harley's, John Britten's V-1000 bike. It was done outside of the AMA's road racing series and Jim France was involved in making it happen. I don't believe any of the then current manufacturer's competing would have endorsed it so it was done outside of the AMA with very limited technical rules other than it had to be a twin. The class was used by Ducati to help develop their 851 four valve engine which later became a winner in the Superbike class. I think it ran mid-week and had an interesting mix of machinery, something that is definitely missing in Pro MX these days.
The stuff is epic.
Had a taste, Sunday, made by some real southern shiners.
Wow.
C class dirt bikes > Pro quad riders.
Got it
Thanks
Not that I really mind if people want to ride or race quads, just don't sit on the backside of hills and jumps to have a chit chat and a beer... Had a bad experience with that which ended up with a hospital visit. I know we call them couches but that doesn't mean use them like one. I don't get the rave about racing them. In what way are they more fun than 2 wheelers?
It's funny that with the complaints about quads destroying ruts, there isn't acknowledgement of quads building up berms. In my experience, both occur. In particular, the local arenacross would get massive berms after the quads were out.
