Tesla attempts to do this, but the car market inertia keeps the model year thing going. Tractors and equipment do it, and car enthusiasts tend to do it. The model year thing makes no sense on products that only update in multi year generations, especially if (like Tesla) all models of a generation receive the same OTA updates. I don't care what year a Kubota BX 80 series was made, I just care that it's an 80 and hours/condition. Same with a Juniper Model Y, a 24-27 KX450, etc.

Wasn't there a Recall on All CRF's last year because the bars would slip? I'm not an engineer but that could possibly cause death.

Not that it would kill you, but IIRC Suzuki recalled every single 1st year RMZ450 to replace the cases. They were breaking at the kickstarter shaft. Honda had a recall on every single Rancher ATV in the mid 2000s for bad steering rod ends. That one could kill you I suppose. I changed out so many rod ends. Was good money. Flat rate time from Honda was an hour and I could do the job in 15min.

Not quite the same. Every dealer just got a box of new gas caps to hand out. That's how it worked at the dealership I was at. And everyone trimmed the tabs on the new caps so they wouldn't stick, so was it really a fix once out in the hands of customers? Now Polaris on the other hand... Multiple stop sales and recalls for faulty fuel tanks, pumps, lines, etc... both snowmobiles and UTVs. We were doing those recalls constantly, along with ECUs on the ATVs...

That’s funny you posted that because we posted this a few months ago on IG. This is me on the left interviewing Shae Bentley on the podium at Millville 1999 (I think), possibly during a morning qualifier?? But yes, just us two, standing in the dirt on the start straight, no raised podium, no sponsor backdrop, no monster girls, no logos to be seen. Super casual, but it worked and I did quite a few rounds that year and they were all similar. Just go interview those guys.
