What would be more popular:

1. The women's class and

2. A 150f cup selected races or

3. A 125 "up and coming" class at selected races

If you want to get really brave, change the "and" to "or" in the first question.

one of my best friends just picked up an 05 YZ 125 over the winter. He took it out for the first time yesterday. WoW... had to laugh at all the thumpers he was passing.. haha.

125 class would steal the show. period.

But I do. Number 3, 6 rounds on the off weekends of the WMA. A real 125cc US Outdoor National Championship. The schedule has already been proven with the WMA races. This will work just as well on the other weekends. Somebody will eventually bring the bikes back when there is a championship on the line.

If you build it, they will come.....

Is the 125 class for AMA Pros only? I just don't see a full gate.

How many people would want to watch a bunch of amateurs drive their golf carts down the drag strip at a drag race? Or watch a bunch of stock Chevy Mailbu's vs. Toyota Corollas race around a Nascar oval at a Nascar race with a bunch of no name drivers?

Am I off base with this comparison? People pay to attend pro races to watch the most bad ass riders on the best equipment there is, not a bunch of amateurs putz around (in comparison to the pros) on outdated bikes.

Of course 50% of Vital which is about 2% of the people at the races might get it.

Atleast with mini bikes, you get the concept of a bunch of kids on smaller bikes. Not that I'm all that fond of that either.

They had a two stroke race at unadilla last year. Was that the only round that had it?

Which is why, if you actually read the title to the thread, I asked for a Racer X poll. Maybe our fondness for two strokes is only a vital mx old guys thing.

I personally think that a competitive group of 125s is the most fun type of racing I have ever watched. In fact, except for one burly woman, the entire women's class would be more fun to race if the ladies were on 125s. Now, it is twist the throttle down the straights, steer the big turd around the corner, and do it again. At least with the girls on 125s it would be a finesse class.

The 150f race is a sell-out to honda.

Like I said in the other post. There are guys out there that travel to these outdoors only to not qualify. If they had a step down and it was all non team racing, there would be fast, pros' there. Depends on the whole idea of who got to race. I don't think most of these guys who don't qualify, are really racing for money. They just want to qualify and race infront of 10,000 outdoor enthus'. I believe there is a limit to who can even try to qualify for nationals. If there was another class, that many more of them could actually race. So not as fast as the 250F and 450F classes, but it would be fast that way. It could be pro's but no payout or very little. They would still load the gate. It could be considered the minor leagues, basically. You have to prove yourself before you can step up.

Here is the idea I have.

Make it a four region series with the top five from each region meeting at Glenhellen for the title.

It has to have a hard age limit, 16-18. All riders have to be eligable for LL's Pro Sport class. If you win the title your ineligable the following year.

Bikes must run under the same rules as LL's modifeid class.

I think these rules will keep it young and affordable. It would also attract all the fast amatuers who want to move up and local fast kids looking to test their speed while keeping their amatuer status.

I would look forward to this instead of eating durring intermission.

ok, you have got to be kidding with that comparison. Go look at some video of RC/Stewart/Pastrana/etc riding 2strokes and tell me it looks outdated or that they are on a "toyota corolla" eeeek

My point, they were still fast as hell even by todays standards and also a good rider on a 2stroke can go just about as fast as they can on a "new" 4stroke.

So you're asking the most broke and strapped guys at the track to buy another bike and prep it so he can be a side show for 5 laps? You don't think that's asking a little much? If you supply the bikes I'm sure they'd be happy to do it though.

I hear you FTE. If the 125cc racing is that good there without 30,000 screaming fans, it would be really, really great here. Wink

Hey now , pretty sure according to YS there were 90,000 thousand there and 53 billion watched it on TV Wink .

Personally when I go to a national or GP I just want to see the main show with no filler - chicks, minis, whatever- just drags the day out waaaay too long and it's not what I went to watch.

Much prefer 2 x 250 motos , 2 x 450 motos and out ....

How is that a winner, that doesn't even make sense? Statements like that are a dime a dozen in these threads, and they are completely void of substance.

Sidebar, but if anyone is looking for Yammie smokers, I was in Roseville Yamaha and they have a 250 and two 125's on the floor, the 10 125 listed at around $5500. If they're unobtanium where you are and you just can't stand it, give them a ring.

1st let me say I think an up and coming 125 class would be really cool but.......Unless KTM and/or Yamaha wants to fund and support the class there will be no factory endorsing it. With only 2 behind it and 3 opposed it would not get approved by the board.

Post a reply to: ok DC, how about a racer x poll?
