Depends on your idea of fun to watch I guess. An in control rider to watch can be really boring at times, even when he is setting the fastest lap times.

I agree and disagree. When Stew is ON and running someone down, or blazing his way through the back....I think the camera should never leave him !!! This past weekend in Dallas however, it was more like watching a novice guy riding over his head because he got his first good start !!!!

Stewart is fun to watch, but he does race with his brain shut off.

The only way he can go so bloody fast is to switch his brain off...but what does that say about Reed, RV, Dungey, Kanard and co.

Looks like he does in fact have a finger on the clutch???

The field is always better, and much more nervous, when he is in it!

I think this is probably true, we ALL know Bubba can set a real fast lap (whether it is in control is up for debate) but because he simply cannot keep that pace for a whole race means either he is going to crash or hit someone and hence why he is watched so much

I prefer watching James drive through Taco Bell, that was the most fun part of the race.

For the life of me, I can't even believe this turned into another Stewart bash fest. Simply astounding! Huh

Great thread GHOPPER. I wholeheartedly agree!

I'd like to hear someone's logical (key word) argument against this.

understatement of the year...no matter what place he's in most of the crowd is switching between watching the leader and watching whatever place james is in.

Kiwi, it's pretty obvious that wasn't during the crash sequence Smile

kiki could be referring to a recent print interview with Reed, who was commenting the James' speed through the whoops was because he grips his bars, without keeping a finger or two on his clutch, as a rule, like most racers.

He sort of references the same thing in this video interview with Holley.

Everybody likes watching James because he is a trainwreck waiting to happen. Its like a bad car accident on the freeway, you cant take your eyes off it as you pass. If he could just ride and amaze us with his speed and skill it would be great. But he is going to hurt himself or someone else real bad(God forbid). His luck cant hold out forever- its gonna happen. I just wish he would back it down a notch, stay on two wheels and start winning again. James Stewart at 90% would win a lot of races, crash a lot less, and gain a lot of respect. He may have to take a 2nd or 3rd once in a while but thats ok if it keeps him in the points.

It's the little things James does on a bike that make for fast lap times and keep my eyes glued to the #7. A big whip over a triple is obvious; the subtle manual over a small double, not so much. Yet those are the areas where Stewart shaves a tenth or two off each lap, and make me pause the TiVO and say "did you see that?!".

Sure, when James does something "dumb", there are few dumber. However, when he's on, there is no one smarter.
