Okay, I know a lot of fishing goes on here and I'm just as guilty of slinging bait in the water as much as anyone. But, for all intents and purposes, let's cut the bullshit a minute and give props to Reed for winning the title in Supercross this year. Everyone coming on here and calling him "crybaby" or posting asterisks or whatever, get your heads out of your asses. The guy wins the title, won the most races of the year, is third on the all time wins list in SX, and you guys continually want to bash him. If that's the case, GuyB should save the bandwidth and lock you all out. Goodbye, get out, don't come back.
Think about this a minute: Imagine yourself, a pretty damn fast motocross racer, 18 years old, with goals and aspirations of racing in America someday. Well, you pack a couple gear bags up, talk your high school sweetheart into going with you so you're not COMPLETELY alone, move halfway around the world to Europe, take a ride in the GP's and even win a race in the 250 class over Stefan Everts (arguably the greatest dirt bike racer of all time).
Well, that's all fine and dandy, but you still want to pursue the pinnacle of what motocross on earth has become, racing American Supercross and taking on the likes of Carmichael, McGrath, Vuillemin, and the rest of the best. So you pack up your shit again, and move a few more thousand miles west to Southern California.
You get there and pick up a ride with a decent satellite team, show off a lot of talent and speed, impress the higher-ups, win some races, and get an offer to ride a factory bike in the premiere class. So you jump on it! Who wouldn't? Well, things get better and over the course of a few years you win a bunch of SX races over the fastest motocrosser on the planet (RC), win a couple titles, get married, win the US Open a few times (and once donated your sizeable purse money to help an injured friend), consistently finish in the top 5 in the AMA Nationals, start a very competitive satellite team of your own with factory support, ride through multiple injuries, and finally win another AMA Supercross title in the year 2008.
So, you do all that while being vocal, confident, and sometimes brash. Who cares, right? That's what people want, honesty. Well, apparently not the members of Motodrive (sorry GuyB, still can't call it Vital just yet).
I know when I was 18, I was sleeping late still living at my parents' house, racing on the weekends (usually on money I borrowed from them), and chasing girls on week nights. What were all of you doing at that age? Did any of you drop just about everything you had going on, move halfway around the world, and chase your dreams? No? I didn't think so. So while you all are busy looking for anything you possibly can to throw Chad under the bus, just remember how badly he wanted to come HERE to make his career. And he gets this in return? I can't believe some of you even consider yourselves fans of the sport the way you act. I think Reed deserves better.
As Bobby would say, "Afugginmazing!".

Couldn't agree more.
While Reeds racing in the USA his always going to be a stranger in a strange land and the bullshit is going to come his way from that no watter what ....... and thats cool, its to be expected.
But in my opinion no one at that level of our sport deserves nothing but praise and all i can say to the Haters on here is Suck it up as this championship for Reed feels real good here in OZ and we're proud as hell as anyone in racing here in Australia knows the story of how he got to where he is today.
you know what is wrong with your post? chad never once says that he is grateful or appreciative. never a smile in the interviews just complaining about his weekly pms. and when mcgrath tells the motocross world Reed has a chip on his shoulder then yes i side with mcgrath because he is well liked by everyone and 10 times the champion reed is. the hole reed attitude can be sumed up as a punk. anyone else here on sxlive mcgrath say i dont know whats up with reed but he walks around with a chip on his shoulder. he moved to fl because nobody in california likes him. oh yeah grant to is a punk attitude and his ass is in florida. but my logic fails me now cause i realize langston is in florida and he sounds like a sweel guy. i got to pace my self hahaha.
You guys are right. Tomorrow.

because of the astrix's, much of the guys hard work has been lost in the shuffle.
despite the fact that im one of those who think his titles woulda had more credibility had he beat the best (rc and later bubba), i still give reed all the credit in the world for never giving up.
of every obstacle he's had to overcome along the way, none is harder than settling for second (and sometimes third) best. the guy never packed it in when 99% of the field abandoned all hope of a title and basically stole paychecks if you ask me. he never accepted the fact that he would never be able to beat rc or bubba. that to me says a lot about reed. i give bubba the same credit for never backing down to rc.
it took the three of them to make '06 the best sx season ever. reed was right there in the final race with a true and legitimate shot to take the title straight up. it wasnt to be but that shouldnt take away from his showing that year, and in fact, makes a legitimate argument for the astrix's to go away.
had he raced in another era he would be considered one of the all-time greats, he got the unlucky draw of rc followed by bubba. we shouldnt hold that against him just the same way barkley, ewing, stockton, & malone dont have astrix's next to their careers. nobody really thinks olajuwon's rockets woulda beat jordan, but we still respect those rocket teams.
another thing is how reed treats his competition like they are not worthy of being on the same lap as them. remember last year when tedesco was killing it and reed couldnt pass and blamed ivan for costing him the race? weak.
another example is ferry and reed physically duking it out at the us open. again reed provokes a fight with a mellow headed guy.
didnt reed provoke stewart at one canada round to launches the #7 at the #22?
remember the first year on his team and he and ramsey came looking like rock stars with the boy band hair cuts and elvis glasses. they were bad asses not going to take shit from anyone else on the track anymore. yeah, he was still up to his shoulders in mosist fishy smelling kleenex at the end of each round.
im not done. he totally punks windham in a turn when kdub goes to lap him. the bitch doesnt even pull over just stuffs him. screw him. hes a punk and thinks he is the king of sx and this championship has always been his.
reed lucked into the championship in 2004 with rc recoving from knee surgury. this year he totally screwed up in half the races almost losing it again. he is not the rider he thinks he is. ama should have scored him a fat zero at daytona handing kdub the championship.
sorry but fans dont forget at least i dont. thats why i say HELL YEAH KDUB DAMN GOOD RIDE THIS YEAR~~~
he was in the championship because RC lost big points from the shock braking in 06. and getting thrid every week and then suddenly your competition dnfs and loses 25 pts. and stewart we all know in 06 pretty much laid on the ground.
raced in another era? MC era? he would never have won, ever.
crossing the pond with a factory ride and luxurious factory contracts is a tough life inddeed please insert sarcasim and alot of it.
Yamaha gave him a good bike and he wins it.
SX all time list JM, RC, CR.
Yeah, he's doing alright.
Pit Row
rc's and the fuel issue (bad call, let him keep his points)
reeds dnf (bad call, shoulda got zero points)
motomikey...go stick yer dick in a light socket.
Oh well, their choice.
Most of the "hatred" is directed at his fanatics. He is who he is. Like him or don't, he has done a lot in MX and SX and has earned (not deserves) respect for his accomplishments.
I'm good with that.
It's the same with James, RC or any other rider. It's the pissy fans that run their bits and bytes all over the place and then get "offended" when someone points out facts to them because they are being annoying. Mostly, it's "my guy is the bestest ever--better than ANYONE else"...BS. MC won the most in SX and RC overall and in MX. (Period, end of discussion).
Oh...for you pansies that want to redirect this...it's for you, the fanatic. Nothing negative about Reed. He gets credit for his accomplishments. You don't.
I don't like Reed, never have and never will.
Reed has won the toughest championships there is. The ones you are supposed to win. Those come with more pressure than any others and most people in that position fail.
Reed deserves the props. He was the fastest guy this year, and rode through adversity to get the title.
Post a reply to: Regarding Chad Reed. (Long read)
