Chad Reed in 2001?

Loved seeing him ride the GP's (like having MC ride the GP's), trying to do battle with Pichon.

I also remember how MXGeoff, me and Rob Andrews tried to convince everyone else on Mototalk how good he were and that he would be a tittle contender right away in AMA SX and Nat's. Of course, no one wanted to believe us...
A familiar story eh.... Smile

Got this cool photo from Ross Maeda a while ago. Pretty easy, but name the bike, track, race, rider and year? I had to "spraypaint" the shrouds a bit, or else it would have been way to easy...

I'd say Kurt Ljungvist (not sure of the spelling...) Not so many guys rode that YZM 500 beast. Vimond, Persson and Kurt, i believe. Year might be 87? Or 88...
Oh, and i forgot Van de Berk at the Touquet race. The bike broke and he just let on the floor in the middle of the spectators... Good times.

Malin was so good on that factory 500, very flashy and smooth riding style!

Yup ! They used to call Maler "Pup" back in the day. And the other is of DT

DT started the year on the works bike then went to a production one , they had a lot of problems that year with cranks twisting / breaking.

There's a video somewhere of Payerne that year and the camera is focused on the leader but in the back ground you can see Thorpy cartwheeling off a big ski jump in the back ground with his KX bouncing along beside him after another crank let go - think that was about the time he figured next year he should move back to Honda.

Not sure why this quote is here - nothing to do with this pic .

I have a pair of those UFO pants.. even says PUP on the back!

Malin's 500 days were just before my MX obsession started.. but seems like he was quite legendary on that steed back then!

You missed him coming up through the schoolboys and turning adult then.

Amazing style back then , very different from everyone else. I remember him at his first Brit support race at the Patchquick track in '89 just killing it. Elbows up, squatting over the bike - not very Euro at all at that time !

No, that's Kurt Ljunqvist. MXdN so weird number. Leif didn't wear an open face helmet.

Yeah missed that era, my MX knowledge starts around 1992. Right after I watched Terminator 2 and wanted to be like John Conner ragging around on an XR80 whilst listening to Guns and Roses haha. But yeah, first time I saw him ride was at the Foxhills GP in 93. Awesome day! And he won that day of course.
