For everyone saying KTM, please explain how they can go from bankruptcy to affording three of the top guys salary wise the sport has to offer in two years? This isn’t a rage bait question I am just racking my brain. (Prado, Coenen, Sexton) That’s like LA Dodgers level payroll 😆

Basically, their creditors let them off for pennies on the dollar, which Bajaj paid in order to gain controlling interest in the company.

Suzuki is Chase's only option. You think KTM or any other of the big manufs other than Suzuki will give him factory parts or support? No way. Doesn't matter who he rides for...Suzuki is the only brand he can still get some factory support. No other factory/manuf is giving him parts. I'd say it's 90% yellow or he doesn't even ride next year.

Chase cannot negotiate a large salary at this point and will have to settle for a large finish 'bonus only' contract in '27.  This makes him a bargain for any team to sign.

Yamaha likes to have three riders as insurance against injuries, as does KTM.  Bobby Regan has stated he's trying to hire Chase.

Husqvarna needs another top tier rider on their bike.

Honda likes to have strong support teams.  What happens if both Lawrences were to be injured?

Still a lot to be figured out yet this year.

I get it that Chase isn't riding yet but it is getting really late for the ink to not be on paper yet.

The financial issues were with KTM AG, the European parent company, not KTM USA.

Yes, there was some belt-tightening of operations globally, but all racing efforts have remained fully funded, including their MotoGP team. Especially here in the USA where KTM sales are thriving.

Thank you, I think my broader point was that they are now going to carry 3 of the 5 largest salaries in the sport? That can’t be correct, right? (All speculative and dependent on Chase going to KTM)

Every team will want him if they can get him. He is only 1 of 3 active riders with both a mx and sx title on a 450. Every manufacturer would swallow any pride and hire him, he is a caliber of rider that only a few are in the world regardless of last year or two.

You're absolutely right so I don't know why there are downvotes. The KTM Factory Racing teams are separate to KTM AG and pull in money from it's sponsors, rather than KTM AG covering the whole operating costs.

Chase will struggle to find 'one of the largest salaries' at this point, I would guess.  Budgets were set long ago and mostly already allocated by teams.

I predict he'll most likely sign somewhere for a lower salary and a large and lucrative win / finish bonus incentive weighted contract.

Some of you guys act like...just put Sexton on this team or that team. Not all teams get factory parts and support. And what factory parts there are, are designated to certain teams and specific riders...period. You think Chase will just join a team to ride and not get full factory supprt? Not a chance. Honda, Yamaha, Kawi and KTM will not give hardly any factory support and probably zero factory parts to a satellite team to give to Sexton. Those parts are spoken for and there is not an unlimited supply from the factories. Chase has put himself in a tough spot. Suzuki is the only place where I can see Sexton and get basically full factory support...if Roczen allows it.

For all we know he might roll up in a volkswagon camper van with a 3-rail Holsclaw and two shiny new KTMs. It's getting late to move somewhere and like the poster above said him being signed won't be liked by riders who just signed (and wanted more $)

I hope he ends up back at KTM, with Suzuki my second.. but who knows what he wants or what other teams have said or offered. He's put himself in a bad spot unfortunately. The only thing that saves him is his skill on a dirt bike, if teams are sure they can get his particular setup dialed and quick.

He signs with Suzukis new Factory effort for MXGP to get seat time on the bike, allowing Kenny to ride off into the sunset with his year long #1 goodbye tour. Then he comes in with all the testing and confidence in the world come 2028, he’s at A1 with a replica of Greg Albertyn’s Bieffe gear, AStars branded of course. I can see it now…

He comes back speaking two or three languages and not wearing deodorant. Holding cigarettes funny....

Will Chase run a rekluse?

I’m shocked that dirt bike development is so incremental that a 2017 can compete with a 2027.

What level do you ride at?

Coenen brothers were already in the budget for '27.  Eli's $$ is not required for them at all.

And isn't Makita coming to Pipes?  That seems to also cover the $$ needed for Chase.

It's getting interesting for sure.

I thought suspension would be more advanced by now. At the professional level, a works bike from 10 years ago should not be on par with current works bikes.

Why do people act like Dustin Pipes walked into the defunct Suzuki factory headquarters and pulled out a 2009 rmz 450 then dropped it off at Kenny’s house?

The thing obviously has some of the best suspension, Ecu, transmission and chassis work money can buy it’s not the 1980s anymore where a difference of 3 model years is some massive leap in technology.

They just won a Supercross championship for fucks sake people give it a rest

Yes, but aren’t they are upping their participation as a primary, with a new hauler and hospitality setup, etc?

That’s different…
