The implosion of Yamaha is impressive.

Now, if the Reisulis brothers are out. Who do they ride for in -27? They would be a great fit for KTM but i don't know if they have the budget for two more factory riders?

Seems like they have a contract with Yamaha, but which team will fund/lead the offical Factory program is still a question.

Maybe at van Venrooy?  I dont think van Venrooy has announced anyone yet? They had 1 MXGP, 1 MX2 and 1 EMX250 this year, so replacing these 3 spots with 2 MX2 seats seems pretty doable if their budget has stayed the same.

Janis will ride for Factory Ktm Austrian side (mx2) team, together with Simon. Adamo will move to Di Carli side that will become the 450 side together with Renaux.

Karlis will ride for van verooy with factory bike.

Does this signal the possibility of an end to the MX2/EMX issue where money is being spent for fun, on looking for 'new talent' , without there actually being any teams left to take the riders.

Drastic measures in these tough times, cut travel, cut races, and roll up classes, make EMX something that domestic teams can step up to occasionally, and MX2 a proper series that is Europe only , that doesnt do the fly aways.  Add local classes to support those GP's

There is a point where being a sustainable sport has to come first.  The materials to race are a small part of the budget, staff, travel and accommodation is where the big bucks vanish.

When F1 tries to save money, the cost of the car used to be 10% of the spend, the rest was staff & R&D and travel, so if you halved the cost of the actual car , it was 5% of the money you used.

We need less races, not more. Everywhere.

All hail the McLellan, Valin & Garcia vs. KTM-swarm cup... also known as 2027 FIM MX2 World Championship.

In the KTM-swarm/murder/pocket we got:

Everts (Factory white KTM)

Laengenfelder (Factory KTM)

Lata (Factory KTM)

JMR (Factory KTM/VanVenrooy?)

KAR (VanVenrooy)

Ricardo Bauer (Gabriel SS24)

And others

What about Lata? Team factory KTM (MX2) alongside Lagenfelder and Reisulis?

🤔

There is also a Dutch/Belgium podcast with regular guests De Reuver, Joel Smets, Joel Roelants, Stefan Everts, team owner Hans Corvers. The latest episode they focus on the travel costs and oversea's races. Apparently things got a big heated in China this year, where factory Ducati MXGP team owner Louis Vosters had a hard debate with Infront how many 100's thousands of Euro's he had to spend each year to do a race with a 10 men gate.

I think all manufacturers and teams should make a point towards Infront and demand a max. of 16 races with 2-3 oversea's races max. 16 races, 6-7 EMX125-250 races with an age cap of 21 in EMX250, MX2 age cap raised to 26 and more travel support for the top 20 in each MX2/MXGP championship.

Absolutely correct. They've been trying to force GPs into every corner of the planet for too long now, and it's time to stop. Nobody outside the sport will look at 12 guys racing round dirt dump-trucked onto a car park and say "wow, this looks like something I should invest in"..

Yamaha finally got their MX2 bike sorted out and then closed down all teams.

Yeah, its pretty crazy.  Yamaha runs like 8 or 9 250 riders in the US on the factory side.  But none in Europe?  Wonder how much of the Star 250 program is funded by Yamaha versus the team owner?  Are there really that many more dirt bikes and gear sold in the US such that it justifies how much larger the investment is here in terms of teams, rides, sponsors, etc.?

So am i reading this correct that basically Monster took a late out and now Yamaha has Gajser under contract but not the budget for Gasjer + MXGP program + MX2 program? So they cut of the Reisulis to be able to fund Gajser?

Every time they have a perfect team, they let it drop again. MXGP by Vosters was top-notch, but too expensive. Louis wanted to do it right, or not. Corvers isn't nearly as good.

MJC ran the EMX125 perfectly.

The Hutten team ran great, only the results were disappointing. I should have given them more time; it really wasn't the team's fault.

…I heard about so much dysfunction at Hutten Metaal Yamaha, budget problems, team morale issues, exploding motors, riders couldn’t practice more than one day per week, every rider on both 250 and 450 trying to escape their contract, and a lot more.

Such a big fall for a formerly great team, Yamaha Europe really has only themselves to blame for this fiasco.

No mention of Monster in that press release. So Yamahas not going to run a 250 program for next season?

Damn whats going on in the industry. There have never been so much brands in the sports, but the teams are struggling to run a full season. Kinda weird to think that some riders make millions and some make none. Time to put all the money on a pile, and pay out €1000,- for each point scored at the end of the season?!

Fantic is under court receivership, they are effectively bankrupt, and the Italian government is acting as their bankruptcy trustee. Pretty sure there isn't a dime to spend on racing.

PS: Hans Corvers the man behind KEMEA has still enough money to run a team, but maybe he gonna use it on something else! 😅

What a big shit show over there at Yamaha.

They better come off firing at all cylinders with Gajser next year.

Damn that is a tough one for Hans Corvers. Say whatever you want, but his heart beats dirtbikes. The amount of riders & innitiatives he is supporting besides his factory team behind the scenes is crazy. Hopefully he decides to keep going. But I have to remind myself that he took over from Wilvo in a similar fashion a few years ago, forcing Wilvo to Fantic before Ducati

Two more seats gone in mx2 as well..

Yamaha have been working on their Italian Facility for a while, so its no shock to me that the 450 program goes back in house, but the 250 deal is a bigger thing altogether.

2026 saw Yamaha win one 450 GP, and 2 Moto's only , and in 250, they didnt win a race, or a GP, in a weaker field than we have seen in a while and wound up 6th and 7th in the series, despite having a pretty much 100% finish record.

They have spent millions and got nothing to show for it since Renaux won the 250 series in 2021.

What sucks the most is that it is this late in the season. Kemea could have continued a year as a privateer team with a good rider. I mean i'm not under the impression a guy like Jonass signed for much at Kawa given with how little options he had. But now mid october? Not sure if there is much talent to the level of Kemea still on the market.

The only guys I can think of are Horgmo and Van Doninck? And on which brand?

Kawasaki Iceone Garcia riding 450. Not sure if that has anything to do with 2027 and why would he skip MX2 as he is young? I know he is "big" guy but still.
