All I’ve gotten out of you is basically riders don’t have anything to do with sales, the manufacturers only race for pride and to win. This doesn’t translate at all to sales. Paying riders to ride their bikes are purely for development and pride of winning. And that I should take Bobby Regan as an example to your thoughts.
You should never run a company brotha. I’m definitely entertained though.
They did? Would you mind showing the sales volume numbers to support your claim, or is that something you made up?
My guess is the latter, but it misses my point. The point being that manufacturers hire these riders to win because wins equal exposure and more exposure (hopefully) leads to sales increase. That’s why Yamaha put an ad in the magazines with their championship riders promoting their bikes.
I was wondering the same thing about that data. Me thinks that Chinese ministry of interior speaketh with forked tongue.
don't have the data (it was 1979 dingleberry) but Suzuki released radically new models in 1979 that won every shootout. yamaha didn't make major changes until 1980. it's a no brainer but i doubt it would register with you.....

What about this? I want to sell my Yamaha in order to buy a Honda!!
Oh wow, well this changes things. Deegan definitely doesn’t sell Yamahas because this guy is going to sell his for a Honda. Case closed end thread
I’d say keefer sells more bikes than any one rider
that's the Buttery effect
marketing for dummies...
you two, specifically, engaged in an argument is hilario!
For sure sells as many sprockets at MXA...except just the opposite. Instead of going up a tooth, Keefer goes down.
Sales figures are not published, but going off US frame numbers, 61,447 RMs were manufactured in 1978 and 195,164 were manufactured in 1979.
1978 RM80 16,083 (Frame# 23349 to 39432), RM100 5,191 (23120 to 28311), RM125 22,477 (61851 to 84328), RM250 12,038 (26795 to 38833), RM400 5,658 (100001 to 105659).
1979 RM80 160,576 (Frame# 39433 to 200009), RM100 4,731 (28312 to 33043), RM125 18,174 (84328 to 102502), RM250 4,921 (38834 to 43891), RM400 4,056 (105660 to 109716).
1979 RM60 2,706 (100024 to 102730), RM60 was new in 1979.
I'm highly skeptical of the RM80 figures for 1979.
I forgot to put "sarcasm alert" I love Yamahas and I´ll continue buying them. and I´m a Jett fan and i will never be a Deegan fan and please please don´t say that I´m a hater. Hate how this gen use that term.
Yamaha is a pretty established brand that pays a lot of money to align with Deegan, whether he sells a lot of bikes for them or not, Yamaha spends a fortune believing he does.
Sorry but way more Deegz merch than anyone else at the races. At least at the several Nationals I was at on the East Coast. Unless it was an anomaly, it was probably like that at all the Nats. Deegz has a ton of haters but he has a TON of fans
You dont just hate Deegan, you hate his whole generation!!?? That is next level
Disgusting! 😆
Yes he does, get over it. Way less than your thinking, he still does. He makes much more brand merchandising and clicks on stupid media. John Ayers would shit his pants if mx riders could bring they're own merchandise trailers to events. (Aka nascar)
There would be 2 lines, Lawrence's to left, Deegan to right. Everyone else make your way back to 2nd or 3rd row.
How many of y’all bought RM450s when RC was winning?
