Well, it's happened. The FIM World Supercross series has shut down, and the 2026 season has concluded immediately. The announcement below, states that the organizers are still hoping to sell or gain new investment to restart the series in the future.
7th October 2026: World Supercross has today announced, with regret, that the 2026 FIM World Supercross Championship season will conclude with immediate effect.
World Supercross remains in advanced discussions with potential investors regarding the future of the series. While those discussions continue, the decision has been taken to conclude this current season.
The decision has not been taken lightly. We continue to believe strongly in the series, its global potential and the opportunity to build on the foundations established to date. We remain optimistic that the ongoing discussions will reach a positive conclusion and provide a strong platform for the future of the championship.
World Supercross would like to thank its riders, teams, partners, venues, staff, fans and everyone who has supported the series throughout the 2026 season. Further information regarding the future of World Supercross will be provided in due course.
They end it all with an AI Instagram post. What a shame.

Webb may have the lowest point total ever for a supercross world champion lol. 19 points got it done.
I'm sure that it already has been but I bet the phones are ringing off the hook over at AUSX HQ.
ML do you know if the teams ever got paid for round 1? Last I remember hearing is they didn’t get paid.
Makes me wonder how many lawsuits will come out of this didn't riders switch teams just so they could race this series like Max and Cooper Webb?
That sucks, the series has potential but it's been a shitshow so far.
Damn. Have they tried gaslighting riders into doing it for pride then pocketing all the profits?
So Webb is World Champion after all?
This is a bummer. Last year was pretty exciting, and this year started off well. I truly believe they can make it work
Lawsuits for what?
Another world title for Anstie as well. Do they get the trophies???
Didn't the teams have to pay to be a part of this series that is no longer?
Long season! I’m sure the riders are happy the grueling WSX schedule is finally over.
🤣
Hopefully someone picks up the reigns and does away with all the funky semantics surrounding "teams" and "wildcards" and using said "wildcards" to market rounds they won't participate in. All seemed very rigid and a bit of an overreach on the part of a promoter.

...bro, this time is going to work!! we are having c. craig, luke clout from australia, deegan is doing the abu dhabi round... its going to be epic. its a motorsport evolution! theres going to be an electric bike too!
That would be a pickle but no they didn’t pay to play. WSX was paying the teams per round. However, rumors teams haven’t been paid for round 1.
Not one person in this industry should be shocked.
With how they were operating every single year, cancelling events, paying riders just to show up and also paying them purse money, CARDBOARD TUFF BLOCKS..., New owner after new owner, trying to find money, trying to add venues...
It was a joke from day 1.
With all that money FIM just made in Ernee, even THEY didn't want to save it...
Oh Bailey's phone would be blowing up with phone calls!
I wouldn't he shocked to see Webb do Geelong Aus X, Tedder would ship a bike over here for him
The riders should pay their own way by raising money from fans who already spend all their extra money on this sport
I was gonna make a smartass comment about the 1950's when there an overall only paid 8 points, and they only kept your 5 best scores, but nope... even the early 50's scored more than 19. John Draper was the former lowest with 23.
Where did you read that they weren't pay to play?
They started off by selling teams spots on their official team list as an "investment opportunity"
This thing had a pie in the sky concept from the beginning. anytime someone promises everyone is gonna make huge bucks racing is either lying , naive or deluded.
kind of a bummer. off season events are cool, maybe it wouldve had a better chance of marketing individual events like a Tour of 5 Bercy SX type events. Or a series still but limit travel to just Europe + 1 North america rd
Wasn't SMX a response to WSX? If so, well played Feld. You won. Wonder if they will start defunding the rider purse now that the competition is gone.
As a huge WSX supporter from the start, fuck these cunts and thier mismanaged clown show. Guess our family holiday will be different now as we already have flights, accommodation and rental car booked.
The money has to stay in the series now. They won't remove it. So the WSX forced the US guys to pay more which is a win for the riders either way.
Too bad the AMA AX schedule is not taking advantage of most of the fall and early winter weekends before SX starts, because they could have been a huge benefactor in this too.
