What is the current status of drug testing in the sport now?

Who controls it? What organization does the testing? What are the current limits & test protocols?

Is RJ hinting about doping?

I asked about this on the usa side and nobody seemed to have an answer....

And is wada the real reason we don't see "certain riders" compete at mxon???

Who cares.  Like most overreach and crazy litigation they’re way more likely to ruin innocent people’s careers than prevent doping.  Ask Tickle or Stew.

Anything sanctioned by FIM follows WADA regulations and standards and laboratories.

US Outdoors and SX are sanctioned by AMA and follow the AMA Pro Racing Substance Abuse policy.

The details of the testing policy are in the series rulebook.

Does the FIM still allow WADA to test? Does the AMA actually test anyone anymore?

Being in the rulebook may or may not mean anything.

The FIM uses International Testing Agency to carry out testing.   The AMA uses Aegis Sciences Corporation.

That answers the op's question on the status of a policy.   Both sanctioning bodies have policies in place and relationships with laboratories to carry out the testing.. Re Ama, there were no public announcements or suspensions handed out this last season.  I have not seen any documentation about frequency of testing, number of random tests administered, etc.

My guess is that after Stewart was railroaded by the FIM and WADA, MX Sports and Feld decided it's best to keep things behind closed doors.

Stew wasn't innocent. It was proven he was taking Adderall which is a prohibited substance and he never got it cleared. No different than the NFL or UFC suspending people with Adderall prescriptions that never got it cleared.

They're on the honor system.

In my experience, WADA and USADA are jokes, and SX/MX is better off without them.

Tickle cheated, Stewy didn’t fill out the correct paperwork.

If they have the means to cheat at that level they have the means to hide it as well.

The AMA piss test, which is essentially not testing at all.

FIM uses WADA, they do baseline testing on most athletes, so even if they can’t find the drug, they will know by the elevated levels.

Does anybody else feel like Stew and Clason are like the guys who got busted and did time for smoking weed in 1995?

You think they're doing a bio Passport(which has tons of issues) on moto riders? Doubtful. They can't even get that shit right on sports that have money and people who care, let alone a small sport like ours.

I'm sorry,  this is way too much relevant information for the "just asking questions" crowd on this site.

No quite, you're thinking of the Biological Passport.  It  compares blood test samples over time.
They also have  upper limits on some of the metrics, but natural athletes have surpassed them, so it's not really a useful measure (and is expensive to maintain).

I don't think they're doing a biological passport for MX/SX.

Urine tests are mostly for In-Competition doping, like stimulants.   They say urine tests can find growth hormone and anabolic agents but there's alot of gray area there.

I’m can’t say I’m 100% right, but an agent told me wada, which is FIM, takes samples for what he said long term sample storage.
It’s pretty easy to pass a piss test if you know what you’re doing, like a good trainer should. But it’s all so interesting.

There could be a urine component to the bio passport, but I don't think it would be very effective.  For that reason I think you're right and they probably do it.

The current status is Aegis Corporation does the AMA, the majority is pee test, have yet to hear about a blood test

ITA test for the FIM under WADAs guidelines, they piss and blood test.

EPO is pretty darn hard to catch with the forms of testing the AMA/FIM use, and that has been the most used drug for 25 years.

Test has likely been the most used compound

This is very different from what you originally said. They usually have 2 samples, A and B and will store the B for testing later if needed as testing always lags the good stuff.

After reading both, you’re right. But what I’m trying to say is exactly what you said in your post.
