The track looks promising. I just hope the weather forecast changes.

I'm Dungey pumped for that track.

If all the venues and tracks were like this I think most would be fine with SMX, but two extra shitty supercross races is ridiculous.

They should use National tracks that are not on the schedule and add Supercross obstacles to them. THAT would be a Super-Motocross track.

Weather forecast says slight chance of rain, less that 25% the weather isn't coming until Sunday....We're good.

The outdoor section looks like a joke. A small flat straightaway on plywood into an SX style 180 bowl turn. Are we fucking serious? Thought this was supposed to be more MX style, but clearly not...

Can’t afford the dirt, bro

The lighting can't be as bad as the "gator pit" section of Dade City was back in the day.

The reason for the lack of whoops is due to the style of the SMX hybrid tracks. SX jumps, but no whoops. They don't make whoops for Nationals. Just use the roughness of the track to compensate. Otherwise, it would turn into a straight up SX track.

Binghamton had some big whoops too along the road. one year RC and Stewart were skimming them in practice. It was insane to see in person.  everybody else would double or triple their ways through. Those whoops were giants and I don't know how they did it with outdoor suspension.  They only did it a few times and I don't think I got any photos of it. The first time I saw it was from across the track and I was just mind blown.

The location and layout of this track looks like what they had described from the start.  Its looks like much more of a hybrid supercross and motocross track than the others have so far this year.  The mud at the first round didn't help much but that's not something easy to avoid when You are doing something outside at this time of the year. This place looks like a fitting location for the season finale. And its a place I really want to get out to as long as they keep it on the schedule.

Glen Helen could be an insane Supermotocross track .   They always had monster jumps . And the steep hills.  Some of my favorite photos of riders are from there. Scrubbing and whipping  the tops of the hills.  I think it was Josh grant that always had some sick photos from there.

Steel City was laid out in a big bowl and would make for a great natural terrain  stadium. Doing it once a year and returning it to nature  might be possible ?  Seems like there was a lot of room in the fields and around the track that could be used.

I like that idea of using  a National track that's not running a National.  The elevation changes that are just not possible in a stadium or most car race tracks are possible when you start out with a national track. Seems like it would also be less expensive and easier to build too, if they picked the right location .

This is what it should be.

Tbh the best path forward would be:
Round 1 SX for 25 points

Round 2 MX for 50 points

Round 3 hybrid for 75 points

Look at that view! These stadiums are so boring, love seeing a track at a venue like this. It should look great on tv.

To me that course looks pretty one lined and fast. Very cool layout and I like the extended layout. I also think there isnt much for passing opportunities after the start.

I think this section will be where the most passing will occur

Yeah, unfortunately seems like that section has been removed. I think, to the point DonM made, yes, they brought in some sand, but again, if it's built on plywood + hard-packed rollers (which the current track pics show), it's never going to get deep like an outdoor and will not allow for much passing as is the case w/ most SX sand sections. The only reason the sand turn worked last week was because it was a wide arching split lane turn, which this doesn't seem to be (more of a tight 180).

You like to complain hey? You could just go riding on Saturday instead... clear your head, pretend SMX doesn't exist.

Back in the day in Italy, with whoops and table tops and other '90s sx obstacles...

Yeah that was the original track map, but at some point over the past 2-3 months they updated it and replaced that original one with the current one on their website.

I like the earlier layout better. But I think the new layout will be better for in person viewing.  The first layout was sending them away from the stands right after the first turn. I think it will make for better fan viewing of the first laps. After that I don't think its gonna matter much.  And the earlier layout looked more creative and open and faster. This layout may provide for better passing with the sharper turns and less sweeping turns. It looks like less of a hybrid and more of a long SX track now in my opinion .

Still excited for the race, hope it stays dry there, my weather will be crap for until Tuesday with rain and a north easter in the forecast.

You are looking at the images wrong. The new layout is the one in the original post. The earlier layout is the one posted just a few posts up. The one you like more is the track they're building.

Anyone else think all the rollers everywhere sucks? Looks like anywhere theres not a jump or a 180 theyve put rollers in.
After watching practice looks like the million rollers theyve put in through the sand and every other sweeping turn section has made it very 1 lined.
Hope im wrong come race time.
