Hypothetical stopwatch thought

This isn't a suggestion, not to mention I'm sure it's not allowed but something made me think about a rider having a stop watch on their bar pad or somewhere they could easily look without being distracted, and when the gate dropped it started so throughout the race they could see how much time is left.

Kind of an interesting thought the more I think about it or is that just me? I know riders can look for the timer in a stadium but not so much outdoors, or is there a place that riders can see the time every lap?

Although personally, I don't think I'd want it. I wouldn't want to see how much time is left. Too out of shape for that. But I could see riders using it to their advantage so they know when to start pushing or when time is running out.

Da pitboard can handle numbers not just letters.

Isn't it on top of the scoring tower where they can glance over like they do during qualifying ?

It’s there or across the finish line I thought too

The mechanics usually do the math and give them a amount of laps left, way easier to think in terms of laps instead of time when you are racing.

Some riders do have watches on their bar pads I have seen. I keep one on my just for normal riding, as it keeps me in check. Some days I feel like I’ve done 30 minutes or more and look down and it’s only been like 18.

And they also look at the Jumbotron to see who's where.

My Garmin running watch has an auto start stop mode so the stopwatch only runs while you are moving.  So that is an easy way to keep track.

It's over the finish line at MXGP races and MXdN.  I've always wondered why we don't have the same thing here in the US.  Would be helpful for racers and spectators.  I get that it's on the leader tower in Supercross but above the finish line makes the most sense.

Who would of thought basic math. Lap time ÷ 30min + 2 laps. No need for a timer just count the laps as you go by.

I do this all the time. Start the stopwatch when the 30sec board goes up, then get ready for gate drop.

Or if offroad, when the one minute banner goes up.

I run a stop watch on the bars for desert racing. That's mostly for drink reminders though. I can also vaguely tell how far I've gone based on time.

Sidenote: It wont be long until heads up displays are available (going off the advancements made with smart glasses lately), or Deegenerate Sr and Ping lobby to let riders have helmet coms

Wouldn't that be 30min÷lap time plus an extra 2

Also, counting 17-ish laps isn't easy. I get lost around 4 or 5 when I'm riding!
