Only two riders making every round

If this were any sport, say Formula 1, and only a tiny percentage of the field was able to compete in every round of competition, would it just be accepted? The SMX series is a raw survival contest more than a racing contest. It is a contest of attrition.

The series is insanely long. I am commenting on the on-air stat from Columbus that Hunter Lawrence was one of only two riders to make the whole series. And even he is injured. This is reaching absurd levels--a meat grinder.

But if you discuss ways to make the track designs safer, encourage bike limits for safety, or any number of safety topics you will be told to look at chess, flat track, or quilting for your recreational activities.

I think that is 100% better than last year, when Justin Cooper was the only rider to do all the races.

The sport will always be dangerous but we are setting up a race series premised on achieving near-impossible things, like staying healthy for that many rounds.

I think they race too much and ride practice too much.

If there's no races when you're healthy, I guess you're not a Motocross money maker anymore.

While I agree with this, it has been brought up in another thread on how many 450 riders are old and racing in this series in their 30's. Its kinda the oxymoron of the fact it's nearly impossible to stay healthy for 31 rounds, yet race longer in the sport than ever before??

In four years with 31 rounds, it's just Justin Cooper, Shane McElrath, and then hopefully Cooper Webb finishes every round this year. Hunter had the DNF at Unadilla and Prado had the mechanical DNF at Hangtown.

Webb won Houston without winning a moto... none of these have even reached the checkers first in the season they made every round.

IMO Feld needs to answer to this. MX Sports dropped an outdoor round down to 11 rounds. SX with 17 rounds is too long (all in football stadiums except Daytona and Anaheim).

How many first turn & first lap crashes resulted in DNF's?

Flat track is just as exciting as motocross and if you watched the Springfield Mile a couple weeks ago id say it was way more exciting than any moto race this year..  The singles class was completely insane ,riders were damm near getting sucked off their bikes  entering the turns do to the drafting that was taking place

Deegan has never missed a race in the pros but obviously 250 SX isn’t as many races.

Totally agree.

I love supercross, but for the riders and teams sake, the season should be a little shorter.

10 MX
3 SMX (If you must)

He's missed a few MXDN.

Will the riders be cool with 25% less salary?

Why would dropping from 31 races to 28 cause a 25% pay decrease?

Regardless, I can't speak for the riders, but Feld doesn't pay rider salaries. Teams do, and by all accounts, the teams aren't thrilled with the current number of races.
