Had Hunter lapped Deegan twice, the vital pack mentality would be very vocal about it and all the, “it’s a mud race” would be replaced with, “they all lined up on the same gate under the same conditions” and “0-23” bullshit.
I actually do consider SMX wins a legit win that should go to your career win count. Youre racing the whole field, 250 or 450. The actual SMX title? Naw
Ay there’s one top guy that was out there ripping in the mud at budds creek. Videos on his YouTube of him practicing in a downpour. The dude is a badass. He’s putting in the work and you won’t ever see him lay over. He’s got grit. It’s not like there isn’t always mud races multiple times every year. Stoked to see it paying off.
Idc if it was a mudder. Hunter and roczen are THE competition and both started and finished the same race, just way behind Deegan.
I was trackside right next to the Big Gulp when he ripped that lap at Budds. One of coolest things Ive ever seen in person. It was downpouring!

AP won 1 SX and Outdoor title and was no where near as dominate as Deegs was.
I like AP but there has been literally just a few riders with a similar 250 resume as Deegs and its Ricky, James, Jett, and RV.
The expectations for Deegs has to be similar to those guys.

Credit where it's due he took the bull by the horns and rode his heart out. Not a huge Deegan fan by any means but to try and take away from his achievement isn't really fair. 2 races - and in both he went for it more than anyone else. Mud can throw a spanner in the works, sure (without a doubt HL is normally a better rider in terms of his results), but it's still the same track for everyone and Haiden got it done, twice...

The dude is truly having a great start to his 450 career. I understand the expectations he placed on himself with his off-track antics, but he was battling with world champ Prado all summer and the only guys consistently better than him are two of arguably the greatest motocross riders we've ever seen.

I took a poke at Deegan in another thread for winning a total mudder...but the truth is, he beat every other hotshot on the 450 gate TWICE. And, everybody had to ride the same track.

Why push it in a mud race when it only pays one point towards the championship. Congrats to him for winning the mudder for his first 450 win. Even a privateer has won a mudder.
I don't dislike Deegan, it is all you Deegan lovers that make him very dislikable.
A race is a race. I remember 2024 and it seemed like every open air SX location rained. 1 race is 1 race but they all count.
Have you ever noticed that there are actual Deegan “haters” too? As well as “lovers” of other riders? So I guess anyone who defends his riding, or compares him fairly to others, is classified as a Deegan “lover”?

Yeah true. Does it need to be civil though? It’s a motocross forum. Motocross in itself is not a civil sport. I think most of us would rather a verbal punch than some kind of pansy indignation.
