He is already a fan favorite. He has the longest autograph lines and people were going nuts in the stands the last few laps both motos for him.

Vital is not a true representation of the fandom.

Vital is not a true representation for much other than ill-informed opinions, and a strong dislike (to the point of embarrassment) for Haiden Deegan.

Had Hunter lapped Deegan twice, the vital pack mentality would be very vocal about it and all the, “it’s a mud race” would be replaced with, “they all lined up on the same gate under the same conditions” and “0-23” bullshit.

Great win for Deegz! What I'm more afraid of is him winning the SMX title and having to hear his casual fans say hes a 450 champion now. FOH with your gimmick championship. The 3 races are fine. If we didnt have them I would care at all. Im glad the riders get a payday

Its a narrative they try to push from a broadcast standpoint..... they loved saying heath Voss was a world sx champ in 05 when he was no where near a contender in the ama series.

I actually do consider SMX wins a legit win that should go to your career win count. Youre racing the whole field, 250 or 450. The actual SMX title? Naw

Ay there’s one top guy that was out there ripping in the mud at budds creek. Videos on his YouTube of him practicing in a downpour. The dude is a badass. He’s putting in the work and you won’t ever see him lay over. He’s got grit. It’s not like there isn’t always mud races multiple times every year. Stoked to see it paying off.

Idc if it was a mudder. Hunter and roczen are THE competition and both started and finished the same race, just way behind Deegan.

I was trackside right next to the Big Gulp when he ripped that lap at Budds. One of coolest things Ive ever seen in person. It was downpouring!

I’m trying to be entirely objective here, but Deegan talking about how strong he is in the post race presser and I watched him dumbbell Benching 40s per hand in a video this week.

average teenager who goes to the gym for a year or two is throwing around 70-80s.  I know these trainers may not prioritize strength but lots of these dudes (aside from Kenny and Sexton ((Peter park)) are not very strong overall.

You need to try harder at being objective.  Dumbass.

Was a big deal when AP won.

AP won 1 SX and Outdoor title and was no where near as dominate as Deegs was.

I like AP but there has been literally just a few riders with a similar 250 resume as Deegs and its Ricky, James, Jett, and RV.

The expectations for Deegs has to be similar to those guys.

Nope. He’s also struggled to win a 450 main or moto. So maybe Deegs will be more like him than we thought?? A fan favorite with a couple flashes of brilliance. Seems to have worked for AP so pretty sure Deegs will have no problem putting food on the table

Finally a normal interview even after the race! If he can be normal and keep his trap shut with all the fabricated drama and let the riding do the talking he’ll be the fan favorite! Actually refreshing for Deegan standards. Fool me once though……

He had no crap talk outside of maybe 4 times throughout 3 whole months, since may. He was humbled, if you can’t see that, your blind.

Hard to talk shit when you losing to the brothers by 30 seconds every race.

The track became proper ”super”motocross, HL looked like starring in ”brandons first race” part 2…

Deegs has the drive, work ethic, consistency and champion's hear, and will become a great premier class champion, IF:

  1. He has the humility to accept that his admittedly beasty riding skills need to be more fluid, polished and efficient.
  2. He gets high-end coaching to take him into the stratosphere. Someone like O'Mara, but not already coaching the bros of course.
  3. He stays uninjured. At least mostly. I an optimistic on this. I see him do spectacular acrobatics to avoid getting hurt in really gnarly crashes. He did an really cool in-air recovery in the rhythm section in Columbus moto 2.

That's my take. I've offered Star Yamaha my consulting services 😐

Someone like Hunter should never be lapped regardless of it was a mudder or not.

Credit where it's due he took the bull by the horns and rode his heart out. Not a huge Deegan fan by any means but to try and take away from his achievement isn't really fair. 2 races - and in both he went for it more than anyone else. Mud can throw a spanner in the works, sure (without a doubt HL is normally a better rider in terms of his results), but it's still the same track for everyone and Haiden got it done, twice...

Someone who proudly wears a RIP JETT shirt shouldn’t go 0-22 against Jett & Hunter either but here we are it’s racing and things happen.

The dude is truly having a great start to his 450 career. I understand the expectations he placed on himself with his off-track antics, but he was battling with world champ Prado all summer and the only guys consistently better than him are two of arguably the greatest motocross riders we've ever seen.

I took a poke at Deegan in another thread for winning a total mudder...but the truth is, he beat every other hotshot on the 450 gate TWICE. And, everybody had to ride the same track.

Kudos to Deegz!!🖕

He had no competition today.

😊🤷🏿‍♂️

No where near the number 1 SX rider in the world.

Why push it in a mud race when it only pays one point towards the championship. Congrats to him for winning the mudder for his first 450 win.  Even a privateer has won a mudder.

I don't dislike Deegan, it is all you Deegan lovers that make him very dislikable.

A race is a race. I remember 2024 and it seemed like every open air SX location rained. 1 race is 1 race but they all count.

Have you ever noticed that there are actual Deegan “haters” too? As well as “lovers” of other riders? So I guess anyone who defends his riding, or compares him fairly to others, is classified as a Deegan “lover”?

But, I know what you mean. Nothing wrong with the Lawrences, but some of the fans… 😳

The up and down thumbs sitting at the bottom of all these social communications created a binary, tribal world where civil discussion isn't really possible at anything above a middle school level.

Yeah true. Does it need to be civil though? It’s a motocross forum. Motocross in itself is not a civil sport. I think most of us would rather a verbal punch than some kind of pansy indignation.

He wins one race and you call him the number 1 SX rider in the world which is complete BS.  He won is first 450 race, congrats to him.
