nice imaginary telling of how people must think that aren't on the Deegan bandwagon for whatever reason. Weren't you 1 of the guys all but guaranteeing Deegan would immediately dominate and win titles this year? Like some of the people looking back at his 250 career and comparing to other people who won less in 250s but were champions in 450s? Biggest reality check is he didn't lead a single lap all year no matter the rest of the field. He turned some fast lap times, got some hole shots and podiums- but no titles. Might be best to turn down the expectations a notch or 2 and let the kid prove he's a championship instead of anointing him and making excuses for him.

First season in the 450 division, he is in the top 5 of nearly every moto, keeping up with the leaders and leaving the field far behind. Yes, he will learn the smoothness and efficiency needed to hone his brutal intensity and already excellent consistency. He does that, and there's no reason tho think he won't, he will challenge Jett and leave the rest behind.
Deegan is not "keeping up with the leaders", unless you consider a 20+ second gap to be keeping up.
so you think he's just in it for the exposure and $, but not really dedicated to becoming the best in the sport with multiple championships? There's a small legion of 38 Kool-Aid drinkers here that swear he's going to dominate 450 for years but not talking about the other personal he has going on. Which is it? I'm confused 🙄

Well, well, well. Apparently Deegs can win on a 450. He went 1-1. Nothing was gifted...he straight up beat them by what...over 30 seconds over the two motos??? The kid is good. There is no denying this. Now, will he ever win again...probably.

As I saw it, he was consistently in a group with the bros and Jorje. Sometimes closer than others, sometimes ahead of Jorje. Consistently much closer to the leaders than the field was to him. That's how I saw it.
Yes, you do appear to be confused. Read my first post again for clarity. The family business that provided the financial strength for his ascent has never been focused on the traditional side of the motocross business, so it’s not unreasonable to consider (as I said) the possibility that young Deegan is wired like his dad.
The count is still zero. SMX is its own thing, just like MX and SX.
Nobody ascends to the top of any motor sport without being all in towards that goal. I don't remember any top riders going all the way back to the 1960s saying they were in it to get rich. They wanted to be Champions- period. Looking in from the outside it does seem the family is in it for the Benjamins, but I think you are making a leap in judgement that is Haiden's primary goal too. IMO making the $ is incidental to becoming a champion in his mind. The opportunity to make more $ will always be there- the window to becoming a champion will not.

It may be that Deegs is wisely advised not to shoot for the moon this first season, instead to be consistent, finish consistently high and get his sea legs on the big bike amongst the big boys. Anyone familiar with the sport can see that while he's got beast, he doesn't have the polish and fluid, efficient skills the bros have. I did not expect a rookie to beat the bros, they are phenomenally talented champion racers. He's got a few steps to climb before he accomplishes that. But he did well, better than I expected. I expect him to hire a coach as good as O'Mara and polish his skills to combine beast with efficient riding and fluid grace. He does that, it's a race with Jett. And Hunta? I fully expect Deegs to beat him one day fairly soon.
It wasn’t Deegan who said he was going after that, it was Jett. And I believe that Jett has about 64 more wins to go (SMX wins don’t count).

Sooner than Jett. Hunta's an easier target, in both speed and heart.
I've actually been quite okay since May, except for one situation at the end of May before round 1 that I won't mention because it's very personal. I am ok from that, thankfully. I had a feeling he'd have a chance to win early on, but knew it wasn't gonna be easy outdoors. Did I like him being 30+ seconds down every week, heck no, but I didn't let it affect me and knew that he's actually doing quite good consistently being 3-5 every week and being at all the races uninjured. He beat everyone; Jett beat his rookie year consistently, except Jett and Hunter. Jett never had to go up against himself; Hunter and everyone else have to. So yes; I'm ok donjulio.
