"Confirmation bias"

I love how on the review show Weege and Matthes kept saying that conspiracy theorists were using confirmation bias of Jett's moto one to prove that the fix was in. Then the very next sentence say that Jett was limping after moto one thus using their very own confirmation bias to prove the fix was not in.

Gun to my head I think it was legit, plus the fact that Hunter was the better rider all year long tells me he deserved to win it. That being said I'm honest enough with myself to realize that Jett is the only person in the world who knows for absolute sure if it was a legit result. I don't know why "We will never know." is not an acceptable take.

This "no one will know" nonsense is pathetic.  You can choose to believe what was relayed and reported about the injury or not, and if not then you're calling those people liars.

I'll 100% honest here. I know people can fake a "limp"

I'm sure it's been beat to death but today was my first chance to get on here. It was less a post about what happened than the different takes that people have and the lengths they go to in order for them to sound right. Mea culpa on yet another thread.

Remember when it was reported that KTM was NOT going bankrupt?  It was a few weeks before KTM went bankrupt.

Noone thought Lewis was a liar, just lacking in investigatory ambition.

Seeing Jett limping is more in the area of "evidence" than confirmation bias. People are being ridiculous. Jett has had this well-publicized injury for a year. Is it shocking that he would aggravate it?

I would call them liars. But I think people are taking swings at softball lobs here.  I don’t think that it was preplanned or discussed among the team. I don’t think there were any bets going on in the background to make money.

I think the best explanation is that Jett saw his brother go down in the first corner and held up and let his brother pass him.  Daniel Blair has a fair take on it

I don't like the Blair (or others) take that "only Jett knows for sure". That is just an unknowable accusation that just stains his integrity.

"Only Jett knows for sure" why he chose the inside gate in 1st Moto at Budd's when Kitchen previously went off the track. Was it deliberate to give Hunter an advantage? This kind of conspiracy reasoning can go on forever.

But the fact remains that truly Jett is the only one that knows for sure. Not sure how you can argue otherwise.

My ankle was a total rebuild and it was waaaay more involved and painful than TWO KNEE REPLACEMENTS. Also, I didn’t attempt to go ride on it at “just a few months in”.

An ankle can EASILY take a year to just start to feel normal…with NORMAL rehab and without the insanity of trying to win a Motocross Title in the 1st few months.

Therefore, it is with great confidence that I agree with FTE Esquire (Acronyms to follow as necessary).

Some of the Conspiracies up in here are HILARIOUS 😂

That's a great point but it's still confirmation bias because you are concluding the limp is the factor leading to below average performance.

To be objective, we should ask, was Jett limping at any other rounds where he gave a stronger performance?

Have you ever let your sibling win at anything? I don't care if its a 450 championship or 9 holes of golf. Siblings want to beat each other.

Maybe you should re-read my original post. I literally said:

"Gun to my head I think it was legit, plus the fact that Hunter was the better rider all year long tells me he deserved to win it."

That doesn't mean that I 100% buy it. It is just worth being open to both realities. One of the big problems with society today is we are too fast to pick a side and then nothing will deter our belief. I'm not looking for something to sway me one way or the other, I'm okay not knowing for sure. It's good to have some skepticism.

Well I guess it’s also factual that only you know for sure that you aren’t a murderer.

There's a difference between confirmation bias and proof beyond reasonable doubt. One is a social tendency which often doesn't hold up under falsifiability, while the other holds up in a court of law.

It's an established fact Jett came into the season with a potentially career altering injury. This is proof beyond reasonable doubt because virtually anyone who has broken their talus has explained that it's a complex injury with a tedious recovery timetable, with some stating that it takes years to regain full range of motion or have permanently lost it altogether. Jett has been physically struggling since he returned and the only people who downplay or dismiss it either haven't experienced the injury themselves (or a comparable one), or straight up resent the Lawrences (fanbase of a certain rival or crazy sports fan mindset). Given how dangerous our sport is and how fragile our bodies are, this underyling reality virtually excuses Jett not only beyond reasonable doubt, but beyond all doubt.

ML saw Jett finish the first moto and hobble back to his trailer in a state of anguish, yet the tinfoil hat mob insisted a goofy kid miraculously pulled off an Oscar-winning act, after a 30 minute moto of total physical agony. They persist Weege suspected foul play during his post race interview with Jett (even though it sounds indistinguishable from any other Jett interview), even after Weege states that the race fixed theory is a conspiracy. With falisifiability in mind, assuming Jett planned for Hunter to win, why does Jett gut out the rest of the first moto instead of pulling off? Why does he bother lining up for the 2nd moto? Why didn't he just sit out the day after qualifying? Why doesn't he fly home after press day? Why doesn't he just stay home altogether? How does a reputable family without a history or controversy, suddenly colluded to defraud...the sports betting market?!? How come Jett didn't roll over for his brother at the SMX finale last year, where he had a more convenient excuse to let him have it? How does Hunter's worth suddenly skyrocket even though his contract was already signed when he was in the middle of battling for the SX championship is year? There are so many holes in this theory, yet this schizophrenic mob continues to grasp at straws which hold little weight in a social setting and would most certainely not hold up in court, but continue to demand a criminal investigation and spread their idiocy anyway.

How difficult is it to accept that a strange event happened and in spite of what took place, a race was carrried out and everyone involved participated in good faith? "We'll never know the truth" is a coy, disingenious disposition to justify entertaining a ridiculous conspiracy, for an audience who are unable to comprehend or make sense of what they saw.

FWIW, I formally request @ML512 to provide a definitive testimoney of what he saw in person (or anyone else at Vital Staff involved) so this nonsense can be put to rest once and for all.

At this point the question isn't, did they throw the race?

The question is, so what?

This.... ! Like who really gaf if it was Jett or hunter that won???

Which makes me think.... it seems like a cooksey/cringelord camp agenda to diminish the Lawrences to me at this point... if they can't win, they gotta throw handfuls of fecal matter on who does....

It is something you and others here suffer badly from, it's the tendency to look for, interpret, and remember information in ways that confirm what YOU already believe, while giving no weight to evidence that contradicts that belief
