He needs to hang it up?! How quick we forget. Until he got sick - which was obvious during a post race interview - he was winning moto's! 🙄 Any race he lined up healthy for he was a threat to win. You can't say that about many riders.
We don't know if he had covid during SX but I can tell you his camp sure as hell wouldn't broadcast it.
After that he got knocked down in two separate SX starts and got landed on in another. All this by riders totally incapable of ever racing with his skill and class.
Most guys pull off the track and become puss hurt if they have a little bike issue. This guy rode around for a bit with a popped achilles and later with a cracked leg. He's ripped his both shoulders out. Tweaked and popped Knees, thumbs and who knows what else because he doesn't make excuses. How his neck isn't broke is a miracle.
I'm sure he will decide what he needs to do. We don't know what that will be. But it won't be because he ain't or can't be competitive. For some reason I don't think this guy has ever got the cred he deserves.
I’m not sure what Eli’s future holds, but I still see a lot of speed potential there.
It was good to get some screen time of Eli today, and from what I observed his bike did not seem settled, IMO. Personally I think the MX setup didn’t come to fruition as fast as he would like, and the injury didn’t help. He certainly has the SX setup dialed, which will show in SMX.
I think KTM would be foolish not to resign Eli, even with the Cohen news. They have no experience with SX and will not be a factor in 2027 (SX Perspective).
Time will tell, but I’m hoping he is still around next year. Eli is good for the sport.
I really hope that wasn’t the last time we saw him on an mx track. I also really hope he doesn’t retire at the end of smx. I can’t begin to imagine what Johnny T, Kathy, and Jessica are feeling about watching what could be his last races. It really hurts me to even think about him retiring this soon. This sport isn’t the same when he’s not racing. I am going to miss the 3 on track every weekend. Yes I know i’m newer to the sport, but man, I am going to miss him so much when hes not on the track anymore. He was the first 450 rider I liked, seeing him win that 2022 mx fitle was so damn special to me and something I won’t forget.

Lucas and sacha coming over has nothing to do with anything Eli related , there’s a reason why AP is going to triumph , if u haven’t paid attention or just misinformed, KTM was planning on resigning Eli for an SX only deal , so tht left AP the odd man out for Lucas , Eli was supposed to stay KTM regardless of wht ever decision Lucas & sacha was goona make

Man that sucks. I mean for us at least. I can't blame him with how that SX season turned out in the end with multiple crashes and then Pala on top of that. What a career though.
KTM didn't need to sign Eli for anything as he already had a 2-year contract, with 2nd year being at his discretion based on some unpublished milestones from this season.
I'll believe it when I see the news coming directly from Eli himself. Everything else is clickbait/speculation.

no , Eli was goona reup his deal for SX only after how testing the ‘27 bike etc…. Steve already said it in the review shows , they was supposed to get another deal done for Eli to comeback signed & delivered around April ish but now Eli is possibly having 2nd thoughts 🤷🏾♂️ & if he does decides to hang up then who can blame him , Eli has nothing else to prove , his legacy is already cemented as a top 10 great in the sport

don't matter what Steve said. Eli did an interview shortly after signing contract and a bunch of video showing him practicing on the bike, (like a team practice day with media) Eli himself was looking very relaxed (for Eli) sitting on a stool in what looked like a garage or large shop with all white cabinets IIRC. Eli was asked directly if the contract was for 1 or more years... and he said it was basically a 1-year contract BUT with a 2nd year option HE could activate already built into the contract he signed. There were some milestone events he alluded to for activating his option.

Yupper. Eli was defying the odds with how he rode to start last year sx but look how quickly the wheels came off. Try and deny the physical peak of these guys is still 25-30yrs old
They have to put two bikes on the track if Lucas gets hurt.
