The thing that makes me doubt a pre-existing injury for Jett is Hunter looked as confused as anyone after the race. If Jett messed his ankle up during the week like the Facebook mob was claiming, Hunter would 100000% know about it
I mean, that did look like it hurt. He definitely shook off his ankle like it stung. I'll be really bummed if that's the reason...what a bummer end to the season.

Hunter doesn't have the same level of sorrow/remorse that Jett has for him.
Jett always talks about how he'll be just as happy if Hunter wins, where as you never hear Hunter say such things. For Hunter, it's always how bad he wants to win his first championship.
Not surprised to hear him call Jett's misfortune a blessing from God, whereas Jett would be in tears if he heard Hunter went down.

With how nasty the ruts are at the track (especially that woods section), it'd be really easy to dab/twist and get an injury. Especially on an ankle that is already compromised. His riding looked compromised to me.

The limp disappeared partway thru the season, perfect time to bring it back..
Side note, the song for WMX is actually worse than the opening SMX jingle.
