The other rumor is that he’s over there to check out Kawi’s prototype ‘27 machine for insight on what he’ll have next year and beyond if he stays green.

That would be weird being that Brock is already riding one in California.

Chase also can’t ride it because he’s recovering from ACL surgery.

“Here’s the new bike, Chase.”

“Nice. Looks cool.”

The MXGP team may be well ahead in developing the new race bike.  That was certainly the case with the current bike as they raced it a year before the US team.  They could give him a detailed technical briefing on how the new bike is different and how those differences address his issues.  Who knows though. That’s easier for me to believe than that he’s there exploring other options.

too funny! Chase can't even express his issues verbally to his current mechanics and team. What makes you think he'll digest or want anybody else's input? He has a "feel" he is chasing but nothing ever satisfies him.

Hard not to notice the simple white t-shirt and only a Monster personal sponsorship hat….

1000% is has gotten out of his U.S. Kawi deal.

that would be big news to Kawi if there was a shred of truth there.

DB's latest vid has him alleging that YES, he believes Chase is there to get a ride for GP's for a couple years to satisfy Kawi deal...then comes back. As he put it: "Yeah, makes total sense to fly across the globe so that you can hang out with your buddy...YEAH RIGHT!"

Agreed. This is not in Chase's hands to decide anything and people ignore Kawasaki's side of things. What incentive is there for Kawi to let Chase walk away after no return on the contract? Chase is damaged goods with unknown value to any other team. Different situation than Prado who kept racing but dogged it expecting he could go back to KTM if things didn't work out. He recently said Kawi wouldn't let him make changes he needed while Chase makes endless changes and crashes a lot. Chase has no recently proven success on another team he could return to and be welcomed with open arms even if he can actually ride like he used to. No way Chase could duplicate what Prado has accomplished by switching.

The incentive is you get out of paying millions of dollars to someone who is making you miserable and not getting you the results you were planning on when you agreed to pay him that much money, and all it costs you is a little bad press.

On one hand you take a PR hit for letting a guy out of his contract for the second year in a row, on the other hand you take a continued PR hit from a top rider hating your bike and under performing on it. Both bad options, but one is way more expensive than the other.

At the end of the day there will be a few people who really don't want to take the ego/PR hit, but there will be far more people at the table who are just looking at the bottom line and are going to be happy to sign off on some agreed upon separation, just like they did with prado. The calculation doesn't drastically change just because it's happening for a second time.

that's not incentive and he's not a top rider anymore- he's damaged goods until proven otherwise. A better descriptor is letting the inmates run the asylum. Chase has no power here and no cards to play. If I'm Kawi Braintrust, I make it clear to him he needs to get his Dr's clearance when he's recovered enough to ride and show up for work. Stay off socials, no leaked comments, and leave your Daddy at home as he's banned from all interaction with the team and facilities. Get on that new 2027 and show he can at least beat Marchbanks with equal personalization of their bikes.

Otherwise he rides the bench until his contract expires. Time for tough love and maybe retirement.

So Chase is not a top rider yet he rode through the pack to win the last Supercross race in 2026?

Saying Chase isn't a top rider anymore is crazy talk. His speed ceiling is as high as anyone's! Hes one of, what, four guys on Earth to beat Jett straight up? I get it he's a head case flake. He's my favorite rider. Or he was, I dont even know anymore. But he didn't just lose it in his physical peak at 26-27yrs old, cmon

DB is crazy on this one. Makes as much sense as flying over there to stand in a corner and watch his agent talk about contracts. Even if that was 100% what chase wanted to do, he doesn't have to show up at a race to have those conversations.

Would love to see Chase spend a couple seasons in MXGP.

With the Bros leaving MXGP, pretty much all the remaining MXGP top riders are over 30 years old so some new blood would get some renewed interest in the series. And Kawasaki does not have any other top tier options with Febvre leaving.

Chase can’t express the bikes issues to his current team?  He expressed himself well enough on the Honda and KTM, to be able to get  a title on each. I don’t know how many times I heard people comment about how damn good the KTM looked under him. I guess since he went to Kawi, he forgot how to communicate and that’s why he lost all his speed.

This thing about “Chase is looking for a certain feeling” is something Fahie said and started in a team manager pre race scrum. I highly doubt Chase test a new setting, hands the bike to the mechanic, and says “nope that’s not the feeling I’m looking for, try again.

In a interview with Lew from the same time period, Chase said he wanted the bike to turn better, and be better in the whoops.

Nope, but he can go there to acclimatize himself with the mxgp scene. By default just being there will have that affect on him.

(See, I knew which effect/affect to use there) 😂

it's been widely reported he wants his rear end set lower than nearly any other rider for stability. That screws the frame geometry, and they have to try and compensate with the front end. Even when he tried a teammate's (Kitchen I think?) entire front end and WON on it- he replaced the next week. he's also tried a stock motor, different clamps, etc. Somehow nothing works to his satisfaction and IMO it's not from lack of trying by the team.

Dazz Lawrence said a while back when the boys got on the 450 that the bike was way off a proper setup.

I know from my racing days that hunting a setup to compensate for frustrating performances can lead a rider to massive bike setup confusion and confidence drop. When you win, almost everything feels great even if its a tractor.

Chase should ride a CZ or a 1980 Maico to gain some orthodox moto confidence. Lol

Who said Chase wanted to move away from Levi’s setup. My understanding is the team wanted him off the pc clamps because they had a deal with xtrig. They also went away from pc suspension for the next race. I doubt Chase wanted to completely throw away a setup that he just did well on.

Different setups for different riders.
One floats, and hops around, the other smashes thru everything.

Let's see.... The dude has a ton of fricken money, is a crazy fast moto racer and serious moto fan, is totally bored with his acl rehab (which can be done on the road), etc. Yeah I'd fly across the globe to hang out with my buddy and watch some MXGP!

all past tense. He's currently recovering from major surgery, and nobody can predict how competitive he will be when/if he returns. Complete unknown quantity until proven otherwise. His total body of work on Kawi 1st year is not impressive.

Maybe, but Kenny knows how to adapt to a bike. Hes been on the yellow buffalo long enough to figure it out, its not like its changed in 10yrs.

So Chase is not a top rider yet he rode through the pack to win the last Supercross race in 2026?

even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. IIRC Tomac was fastest qualifier and won a bunch of motos the 1st half of SX season? He's been injured multiple times and missed a bunch of races and keeps trying to work his way back- only to get taken out again. Same story outdoors. When healthy I'd rate ET3 somewhere in the top tier of riders in the group starting with both Lawrences, Deegan, Prado ahead of Sexton at his current best.

Let's see.... The dude has a ton of fricken money, is a crazy fast moto racer and serious moto fan, is totally bored with his acl rehab (which can be done on the road), etc. Yeah I'd fly across the globe to hang out with my buddy and watch some MXGP!

That’s a bad take from DB. Not everything is a conspiracy.

Lol

I was joking. The dazzy quote gets thrown out there constantly as a knock on chase when roczen and canard probably had far more to do with things than chase did up to that point he's talking about.
