So if Deegan says to Star when he signs his contract that MXdN is important to me and I want to go that they say no?

If Deegan or any other top rider want to go they will.  One thing not holding them back is money.

And stop with the risk crap.  If there were four SMX playoffs they’d be there, same risk of injury.  That risk is always there.

Isn’t SMX in most riders contracts? At least factory riders and privateer teams with semi’s?

The part thats lame is him pretending he wants to go, when he doesnt, every single year in order to get ppl all excited for the possibility that were going to send a good team. Then after the whole entire year goes by with him teasing that hes going, riiiiiight at the deadline and right on cue -he pulls out, finds an excuse, or has someone else cover for him. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Its not most times, a lot of times, many times, its every single freaking year since hes turned pro he pulls the same exact stunt. And the bed bugs believe this years bullshit story every time LOL.

Thats the part thats a dbag move.

The MXON doesn't pay, but riders who win the MXON get much more money in races like the Supercross of Paris. I know that we're talking about 500k for two days in some cases. I hope that Deegs is getting nice money from WSX, but maybe it are "rookie" numbers 😅.

What an absolute crock of shit.  Riders can make anything happen if they want.

Seems to me like a good dose of humility would go long way here.  Dozens of riders every year pack their suspension and riding gear into a kit bag, jump on a plane (that they most likely paid for) and go ride the MXdN.

Meanwhile the richest teams and riders in the world are complaining that it’s too expensive, they don’t get paid, and it’s not fair that someone else is making money.  If they don’t want to go just say so, but any other excuse is just plain bullshit, and outright disrespectful to every other rider and country that just makes it happen.

Riders cannot make anything happen if they want.  That's just more assertion without fact, which this thread is full of.  Smaller team face much less constraints...

Riders cannot make anything happen if they want.  That's just more assertion without fact, which this thread is full of.  Smaller team face much less constraints and logistics than larger teams do in terms of contracts, budgets, expenses, travel, bike testing, etc.

There are plenty of valid reasons why it's harder for the bigger teams to go, none of which are disrespectful to the smaller teams and riders. Do you think a rider like Benjamin Garib has more at stake career-wise than Haiden Deegan? It's a win/win for Benjamin to pack his bags and go to the race; it's the chance of a lifetime.  A rider like Haiden Deegan has much more to consider when it comes to the race, such as injuries, testing, getting ready for the 2027 season. Your heroic bullshit about a rider making anything happen is what is disrespectful.  It's not your career on the line with an injury.  It's not your money that's paying for the travel, bikes, and all the other expenses.  It's theirs and and that is why it is their choice. If you don't like their reasons, just say so. But stop being disrespectful to these teams and riders with your bullshit excuses.

Does Brian let you wear his pajamas if you're a good boy?

In the United States, patriotism has been turned into a commodity that can be bought and sold, often to signify political affiliation. The meaning of national pride is lost on most of this country, and especially on Gen Z and the generation after them. I say this as a Gen Z-er and a USMC veteran.

De Wolf's comment here, compared to Deegan's attitude and masturbatory flag waving, reminds me of a JFK quote. "Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country,". I know this is going pretty deep for a reaction to a motocross race, but it feels relevant.

Team USA is going to be awesome this year.  Because it will be 3 people that WANT to be there.  3 people that might never get the chance, a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I understand Deegan wanting paid, as he should.  I never counted him in for MXON anyways.   YES it’s criminal the event doesn’t pay, and feasts itself on the guys I mentioned above that just want to be part of it.   I think this is the future of MXON it’s going to be top guys but not always the champions.  It’s just supposed to be a fun event, motocross is not a team sport.  And we know who the fastest riders are.

But all that said … I’m stoked to see Levi race vs 450 talent and Chance on a 450!?  Marchbanks could be a feel good dark horse!  Plus its always posted free on YouTube every year!

I'd pick Eli on a 450 over Chance every day.  Yes, I get he's been slow getting back up to his usual pace.

He IS Eli Tomac though.

Kawasaki pulled the plug on Marchbanks going. So Kawi USA still sucks ass.

Rumor is Webb will take his spot on a Husky. I just can't see that though as he will have no time on the bike. I bet Eli goes and then calls it a career

Eli always rises to the occasion at Nations, and Webb did surprisingly well at Matterley Basin.  Crazy to think our team at Matterley Basin was only a couple points away from winning, with Plessinger not riding well at all!

I think Kitchen and Hymas could surprise some people this year.  Most fun race weekend of the year, no doubt about it...

Unfortunately, without Deegan, we will not win.  And who do we have to thank for that?  Star Yamaha.  Deegan's  gotta do what his bosses say.

All those fast euros? What euros that will be at MXoN this year would beat Deegan?

Deegan just stayed within a few seconds of Hunter who smoked everyone last year at this race.

Deegan has a ton of flaws. Being slow isn't one of them. He would battle for top 3-5 at that race. This isn't MX2. This is going to be a top heavy field this year

Matthes reports the team is Hymas for MX1, Webb on a Husky for MX3, and Kitchen for MX2.

Herlings would smoke Donger for one.

As for just finished behind Hunter...

His average gap behind the Lawrences has been 30 seconds.

He's led 1.25 laps

And finally: 0-20

Seems like with Kitchens crappy starts it would make more sense to put him on the 450.  Hymas could probably get a halfway decent start on a 250, that does not seem to be the case for Kitchen.  Kind of odd, but hey, I am just glad we have a team!

If this is true though (Webb, Hymas and Kitchen), I say good huge kudos to Webb for stepping up.  He surprised last time at Matterley Basin on the 250.  And what would he have, just a couple of rides on the Husky before the qualifying motos on Saturday?   Wow!!!!  Cool opportunity for Hymas and Kitchen, and both have showed good speed recently.

Where is this debate going?  The payment arrangement for MXdN is pretty much identical to Supercross and Pro Motocross - riders aren’t getting paid by the promoter, they’re being paid by teams and sponsors.  If, as professional riders, they don’t feel the financial equation adds up they can opt not to race.  Same as when they are shopping around for an SX/MX ride - if the dollars don’t make sense for them they can find a different team or go and do something else.

All that aside, MXoN has never been about the money; it’s about the one opportunity each year to represent your country and test yourself against the best from around the world.  It’s not just another race on the calendar.

Riders who really want to go will make it happen; riders who just want to make a buck out of it can sit and watch while the others go out and get it done.

It most certainly is about money. MXGP is not doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.

Kitchen is able to get a bad start and pass a lot of people though.  Usually when Chance gets a bad start the charge isn’t as strong.  I also thought I heard something about Hymas wanting to ride the 450.  I say let the riders choose who takes the 450.

That's not the point....and that doesn't solve the debate on whether all riders should be paid for going regardless of who they are or where they're from...everyone should at a minimum receive a stipend for expenses from the promoter, all manufactures should have a bonus in their contracts for making the team...I have a novel idea how about the money that Infront receives from Monster to sponsor the event gets distributed equally to all the riders that are chosen to race the event...but greed won't allow that to happen...It's funny how NFL players have it in their contracts to be paid a bonus for being chosen for the Pro Bowl (many don't go but still get the bonus) and that's to play a flag football game that means zero...Do you think golfers that play in the Ryder cup do it for free? They get paid $500k. $300k of it goes to a charity of their choosing and $200k of it goes to the golfer the premise is the same as the MXDN pitting nations against each other.....How many golfers do you think would go if they didn't get paid?

MXGP makes plenty of money on this event, they could actually pay the riders expenses. You couldn't be more right.

Kellen Brauer gave the best breakdown on his LVK show.  It really is all about money.  He put the riders on blast that say it’s about rest, but then sign up for WSX races.  Nothing wrong with that too, we just have to be honest.  Deegan was not going to go even if Star Racing loaned the bikes because The Deegan’s have made it clear for years they want to be paid for MXON.  I think STAR racing actually took the bad press bullet for Deegan.  But again, if Deegan just said “I’m worth X, I’m risking my life, at the least don’t CHARGE me to attend” I think fans would understand.

OH! EXACTELY!

They could have . in one SIMPLE MOVE erased years of bad will against Kawi US by just supporting ONE RIDER in Marchbanks at this years MXdN!

Gone!!! is the memory of not allowing Tomac and Cinciarulo to race MXdN....Gone!!! is the Prado and Sexton fiasco!

Americans are forgiving! Just support Garret! and it would have erased years off the bad image for Kawasaki USA.

But no!!!  Stuborness shale prevail! Damn reading the room for social media ques! We will continue to do the wrong thing at Kawasaki USA forever!!!!

I support a Bruaer/Peribinjos ticket for leadership of the US MXdN team for next year.

Team No Little Bitches.

They went with Webb, they went with Martin, they went with Tomac. That is enough proof. The team is protecting golden boy. The saddest part is that the US media is throwing themselves in front of Deegan like a bodyguard in front of the president in some sort of B-Movie... The sh¡t you read coming from the biggest names in US MX journalism, it's one big laughing stock.

So Kellen is speculating and you take his speculation as evidence? Never enter law school.

Did the Deegan's make it clear they want to be paid for the MXoN?  Where did they do this?

Or is that just more....wait for it...

No idea how accurate this is, but I read a US rider spends about 30k out of pocket to participate in the euro events.

The US riders are a big draw, we may not dominate anymore but we still pull in a crowd.

If someone told me I need to spend 30k of my own money, too draw in a crowd for some dude selling tickets and pocketing all the money, I'd have reservations. I would feel used, taken for granted, and slighted. I'd feel honored to represent my country too. So I'd be torn, I'd want to represent my country but I wouldn't like being taken advantage of. Quite the dilemma, I can see both sides.

PSA for people who aren’t familiar with Motocross of Nations. It can be pronounced many ways.

MXON = saying each letter

MXdN or MXDN = saying each letter

You can say all of the words = Motocross of Nations or if you’re a retro guy Motocross des Nations.

However you CAN NOT pronounce it as M X ‘on’. You will sound as dumb as the people who say they “got 4th on the Holeshot”. Haven’t heard it in the past but I’ve heard it multiple times from callers on podcasts recently. I think it’s coming from people who just read everything they know instead of talking with others.

Don’t sound dumb. Say it correctly.

If I'm feeling retro, do I also get to call the 250 class Trophée des Nations?

Only if you hit people who call it M X ‘on’ with your cane before you correct them. Totally acceptable then.

I still need to get a window rack on my electric scooter for my cane so I can take it with me.
