Idea to fund MxDn

It seems like a the best route is for countries to fund there own team.  In the USA I would suggest that the AMA put a surcharge on all tickets for Motocross and Supercross.  Say we need to raise $150K to send the team with a legit effort.  (I have no idea the actual number).  They could divide the 150K by the number of tickets sold at all the pro events.  This could go under a seperate line item for AMA sanctioning.  I don't think that many fans would dispute the cost if it were $1 for our team to be sent.

It would truly be an honor for us plebeians to help fund a bunch of millionaires race their dirt bikes in front of thousands of adoring fans in countries we can’t afford to visit. Lucky us!

So... youve never bought a bike?? No helmets? No oil or handlebars??? No boots, no sprockets, no lever?

Why you think us, the consumers, that actually pay for all this chit, need to pay even more???? I'm tired of paying for everything, especially when billionaires give us a chit product for all my money spent.

If the people selling the tickets thought they could get away with charging another dollar per ticket, they'd already be doing it and keeping it for themselves. It's a good idea, but they're not about to do it if they've already calculated the most profitable ticket price ceiling and going over that might cost them ticket sales.

Let the fans vote. $1 a vote.

Somehow with this system, Hannah, Ward and Lechein would be summoned to dust off their boots.

How about the promoter who is making all of the profits from the event put up a real purse?

Anyone who's been to the event knows there's so much money being made. It's no one else's job but the promoter to pay the pros to show up at the race.

infront should be putting the levy on the tickets, they are the promotor and the ones making bank on the MXDN

This is what gets me the most, people bitching about the money. Forgetting these riders make 1million + per year. And some earn enough in 1 weekends racing to fund the whole trip for the team. Baffles me. That 25-50k we see as huge money is peanuts to those guys.

Maybe the Thor battle box proceeds could be used to fund it

Or the Oakley running order update

Or the monster racing brought to you by qwicktrip

Or the scooter pit pass

Or the mechanic pass

Or the vip section passes

Or the merch sold at the races that only the promoter can sell

Or the

Oh yeah I know it’ll come from another charge placed on “us” lololol

They already sold out the product and shove endless ads and a pos broadcast at us because of greed and profits but sure we’ll spend more.

even if Feld/mxsports/ama took $1 from each ticket sold, just in SX, they get almost 1 million attendees just from the 17 rounds let alone outdoors.

there is money being made, that could easily support this without trying to crowd fund it from the fans already spending money. we just have really greedy promoters.

Might need @Pulpmx to save the team and run a 2nd raffle for the out doors to support the mxdn😁

How about Eric Peronnard, the great promotor, organizes a competing event that uses a Paris SX type model of actually compensating the entertainers/riders and still turns a reasonable profit and puts this issue to bed once and for all?.

It's like I call a USA Day at work this Saturday and ask my workers to come in and work for free that day for the pride of our country!  It's just wrong, and we aren't even entertaining anyone!

50k is what some riders spend on an ugly necklace. 50k!? That's twice as much as my cars are worth 🤣 Deegan can sell it and go to mxon two years in a row, problem solved!

No. These guys are millionaires, dont gouge the poor ppl to pay for rich ppls shit. They can literally just get a 1 time sponsor for mxon only and get them to pay. Not that complicated.

They do have millionaire sponsors - the teams that pay them.

Didn’t MXA also do it one year?

The AMA should be funding it out of their $12m annual budget.

I would genuinely like to know which of the 3 riders the U.S. is sending made a million $ this year? I doubt any of the 3 has a base salary much above $300 a year

8/26/2026 9:09pm Edited Date/Time 8/26/2026 9:11pm

South Africa manages to send a team every year. We have Golf Days, fund raisers, raffles, crowd funding...and we send a team knowing we have no chance at winning...hell, some years we are lucky to qualify.

The USA expects to send their best riders but damn, these dudes have a grueling seasoning with very little time off, where as the Euro riders get a good long off season between the end of the GPs till the start of the new season....they have almost a 5 month break.

This year, their season 8 March - 20 Sep.

The USA is big, with big money...you guys just need to pass the hat around and get the willing riders to go race the MXoNs.

Getting your best team is another story...

Edit - spelling. I left my reading gogs at home.

Was more referring to star not being able to find 25k per bike for deegs & jcoop. Deegs 1mil +, and jcoop you’d think is on 700k+.

I would also think kitchen would be on 500k+, hymas maybe on something similar or just less. But their own teams were happy finding the trip.

I wish our best guys were going but I do think this whole mess has highlighted what a scam the race is from a business standpoint. I love MXdN but it obviously isn't working for all interested parties. At this point it seems like it's only working for 1 of the 4 if you consider 1 being InFront, 2 being the teams, 3 being the riders, and 4 being the fans. It's a sunk cost for the teams, an extra race in an already loaded schedule for the riders that they don't get paid for, and now because of those factors a race where all the riders they want to see aren't there for the fans, but the promoter is still making out just the same. And the fix is a surcharge on tickets? That'd be like buying a ticket to a football game and having to pay extra for your quarterback to play, or buying a concert ticket and having to pay extra for the band to be there. If InFront is putting on the show then they should be booking the talent.

It’s like the Pro Bowl in the NFL.
No one cares and the team owners don’t want the risk of their players getting injured for an exhibition game / race.

I’m sorry, but money is taking over any prestige of the MXoN.

What is there to gain by going and even winning the MXoN anymore?

One year of bragging rights that you won a clever 3 class race where the best riders are not really there.

It’s an off season race that is trying to keep marketing itself as something so important that if you don’t “see” the importance you don’t understand MXoN.

The ship has sailed. Without the best riders what kind of one race deal is it.

Maybe add it to the summer Olympics every 2 years. Current setup is failing and will fail.

As to the millionaire argument.  I look at it like this.  Each time these guys throw a leg over the bike, it could be their last.  It is very dangerous, as in career- or life-ending.  I don't begrudge them the money; only a very few make the huge cash, and good for them.  I don't have to watch, but I really enjoy their skills and the racing, so I do.  I get paid for my work; it is somewhat dangerous, but not anything close to these guys.  So, the sport gives us superstars that we fund in a roundabout way; good for them.

Exactly. That's a lot of money you just brought up. Where does it go? just vaporizes into thin air? Nice to see some people in this thread actually suggesting that MXGP should be paying for all of this. Wonder how much they make off of pay per view?
