Dude I thought about this recently. I had an old Gibson acoustic sent off to a luthier for a refret, neck reset and bracing. He said it’d be ready probably in Nov. I check in Dec, he says it’s ready just waiting on the holiday shipping rush to die down. Crickets. Follow ups. “Doing final touch ups, should ship next week!” Nothing.

Finally I threatened to proceed with formal action in the state of Georgia for failure to return personal property entrusted for repair. I got the guitar back in March, and charged about $500 EXTRA because it was a Gibson and that was never specified.

Case came back with busted latch, original tuners were kept, and he polished the patina off the top. I’m still annoyed when I think about it. Can’t recommend “Overhaul Guitar” Evan Collins for guitar work

wow. that's gotta burn.

@0:54, guy sure sounds like a scumbag

LMAO. i know people like that. probably not a bad guy as far as acquaintances go (would make a shit friend), but just can't be told 'what to do' by anyone despite being an adult with a business and commitments. PDA. pathological demand avoidance.

i bought some car parts from a small distributor and the mother fucker was so avoidant he couldn't tell me the shit was backordered and hadn't shipped. strung me on for 3 weeks. i finally do a chargeback, he tries to accuse me of fraud, and tries to charge me a "restocking fee" for MF'ing backordered parts lmao.

This guy has not a care in the world when it comes to worrying about the folks that he has done dirty. We are all coming at this as most people would if they had some morals, and a bit of self respect. He has absolutely none of those traits, and truly thinks the group on here discussing his business practices are just a bunch of punks. I hate to encourage you gentlemen to just walk away, but it will do you a great deal of good to lose his number and forget he exists. No amount of threatening and shaming is going to straighten him out. Karma already has it’s eyes on him.

I think getting it back after all that time is the real win. Maybe that's the business model.

From my understanding he offered this deal to promote his buisness, we see how that worked out.

The real win is getting the helmet back.

Oh well. Lesson learned

A '40 year old' who uses the term 'bro' should be your first clue as to who you're dealing with.

Haha, that's one way to have a customer not complain about the quality - distract & demoralise them with the delay 😄

If the numbers were better, it wouldn't be too bad. Splattered with mud bouncing around on a moto track, no one will notice.

Man, sorry you had to deal with that. I know you probably don't want to deal with painters anymore after this saga, but there are some shops out the that could spruce up the bad parts of his work - like a tattoo cover up in a sense. Mostly the shaky red pin stripes and the crudely drawn number. Those are the roughest parts. Maybe along with the unmasked vents.

If I still had my painting equipment, I'd would have done it for you for free. It's great advertising for a business when you can really transform something and showcase your work and make lemonade from lemons. But I am long out of that game.

This is a really long time. there should be zero excuses for it. He chose to offer the discount. That is not your fault. you have every right to be upset over it. I go through CK Designz out of Wisconsin. Colten does a killer job and its only ever taken 3ish weeks, except for one helmet that was a few months because we were waiting on the rubber piece that lines the helmet as they were on back order.

This guy seems like a straight up scumbag full of excuses

Yes Colton is great and is a solid guy

Pretty damn good on a bike too
