Should the MXoN share profits with the racers through a purse?

Let’s just separate this from the speculation over whether specific riders have requested “bonus” money to race the Motocross of Nations and focus on the real issue at hand:

Poll

Should the MXoN promoter compensate the participating racers by sharing proceeds from the revenues generated by the event?

Pay the rider and team the cost of attending a race that makes a ton of money for the promoter.

Let’s break it down. What does Infront clear at the end of the day for putting on the race?

What would be there expense to cover every team and rider transport?

Instead of the riders, to the Team, so each country can pay their expenses, and then, hopefully, the rest can go to the riders

You got the wrong guy. I just think that the pay issue overall should be discussed.

Are you in some kind of competition with Hair Lip to see who can have the dumbest take on Vital?

It doesn't matter what the question is, every thread will lead back to Deegan somehow.  Some people here just can't help themselves. Pretty embarrassing for such old guys. Go text your ex-wife or something else more useful

I get the distinct feeling that if you asked this question in just about any other country than the US, you’d get a different outcome.

Right, everyone gets it, you don't like the USA, it's very clear. Especially since Aus has won twice in 42 years. Bragging rights 🙄

The IOC doesn't pay either, the local Olympic federations (USOPC) give out bounties for people who end up on the podium... So if Deegan wants money he need to ask this to the people who make "Team USA" possible and that are the AMA, FELD & MXSports.

But we've gotten riders as RV2, RD5, JS7, RC4, MC2, Emig, ... who went just for pride. Same with all riders from all other countries like the Lawrence Brothers. But now this nepo baby, raised with a silver spoon wants to make money from this event?

We even know that most of the American riders put serious money into it while going for their country!

Also the greed from STAR Yamaha is sickening. 50k? Just imagine that Infront would pay all costs. What costs are we talking about? What prices will teams charge, what with the entourage because Team USA has always an entourage bigger than big...

Ha no bragging rights, I never thought I’d live to see Australia win, yet MXdN has always been my favourite race of the year, even when the US was so dominant, and even if we never win again.

It’s just that I never see money/ costs discussed so much as a determining factor, as for team US.
Most countries have their financial struggles to attend, but I don’t see riders turning down the opportunity to represent every year because of it. Which seems odd when AMA is the richest moto racing series in the world.

Infront pays teams competing in MXGP a freight allowance, they could do the same for MXoN.

You make a good point. Gate and merch revenue alone will probably not be enough to cover expenses for all race teams, and I am not sure if there’s a viable tv package that is paying the promoter for broadcast rights.

Fact is, it must cost teams a small fortune to send three racers and their mechanics and support to this international event. The promoter should at least pitch in something.

Agreed some people don't have the mental capacity to see that this is an issue that is best for every rider....I said in another thread that whatever Monster pays as a sponsor it should all go to the riders...How many people bitching about this have contributed to RaiseItUSA for Team USA?

So we need a Go Fund Me so the Deegandashian circus might attend the MXDN?

I agree that rider bonuses probably should be paid by the federation, but as far as I’m aware in relation to the Olympics it sure seems like a solid chunk of the logistics behind that event are handled by the IOC with the Olympic village being utilized for accommodations for the duration of the event. I’m sure it’s possible there’s a fee associated with that which I haven’t dug into enough to find

If we’re going to hold the MXoN in high enough regards to be the “Olympics of MX” then perhaps the team and personal sponsors need to include bonuses (team and rider wise) for being selected and placement like the Olympics. Riders have already started working SMX into their contracts, they’ve only had long enough to work MXoN into them…

CPR, you really aren't getting it. This is about Longo making all the money on the race and the riders and teams having to come out of pocket to race the event. It's not greed in America that is bringing this up, which is obviously what you are insinuating, it is basic fairness for all teams and countries. The way this race is run cannot continue, sooner or later the riders and teams will have had enough, but you go ahead and make America the villain as that seems to be your go to.

Some of us are old enough to remember when the AMA asked us proud Americans for a couple dollars to help fund the teams expenses?

There's capitalism, and then there is monopolistic exploitation.  Not necessarily the same thing.

And no - InFront won't be voluntarily giving back diddly squat...

I am not donating a dime to a multimillionaire so he will attend our sports Olympics. If representing his country isn’t enough in the sport that has directly given him and his family everything let the punk stay home.

Personally I think this is just the latest excuse to dodge the Euros anyway.

This attitude should scare American SX/MX fans. This is what we have to look forward too if/when they start winning. Think this social media wanna be rap star fake persona is good for the sport? Think Gold teeth, a dozen more Gold chains, and a Ferrari speeding around rural Florida is going to sell bikes, gear, prompt parents to buy their kid a Staysic?
