There may be some fact in that, as a general statement. But not every 450 feels the same. And he also said the Yamaha may feel the worst at that because of the angle of the cylinder, and I disagree. I'm just saying that to me, it's just a stretch to peg that bike as unsettled or having that typical 450 feel where it is clunky side to side or want to stand up in turns. It's probably the best in that aspect, out of any 450 that I've ridden. So I am just pointing out that I don't see an inherent flaw in the bike or the design of a Yamaha specifically, from my experience.

I'm saying "to.you" is invalid. Physics don't care about what you felt on your buddy's 2023 450.

100%

Physics doesn't care about your feelings.

All his career so far HD has managed to go fast by trying to look like he is going fast.   You cant do that on a 450.  All the fastest 450 guys in the world, look like they are on a sunday ride to church, and sound like they are trying to do it while not waking the neighbours.

Roczen, Lawrences,Herlings, Prado, all look slower than the guys chasing them .... Gajser this year seems to be revving the nuts out of the Yamaha compared to the Honda and looks worse for it.

They should drop the rev limiter 2000 RPM, and teach him how to ride ( and how the bike needs to be) to turn a lap time, on the money every lap, for 30+2.

'But thats how i ride' doesnt cut it in the big boy class.

Ask Barcia

From Title 24 with Reed and Villo - Reeds says stop trying to change the way he rides and set his bike up for the way he does - as Reed said RC rode wide open, Villo didn't ride a bike like everyone saying Deegan should! Get Gilly onto sorting the suspension Reed was also quite vocal on who todays motox suspension is set up compared to Euro set up. Reed said USA suspensions too soft for motox compared to Euro (which I was surprised thought would be other way).

I'm waiting for Chad to fix him and his setup

I'm sure he'll have plenty of input when the 2 of them start that race team together.

To my, admittedly untrained, eye, it seems like the Lawrences, Roczen, Prado, and the other guys who ride/rode MXGP favor a heavily damped setup, while most Americans prefer heavily sprung setups.

What I mean by that is the euro way may be stiffer primarily on compression damping, but use a softer spring rate. While the US way is stiffer in spring rate with lighter compression damping to try and regain some comfort for outdoor tracks. So they're both comparatively "stiff" but in different ways. Problem with the US way is you need to run a heavier rebound setting as well to control that spring energy, and when the tracks start to get choppy mid moto a lot of these bikes you can see start to pack and skip around. RJ and Deegan's setups look the worst for this to me. I can only assume, and again this is a complete assumption, the American way of setting their bikes up stems from riding stiff af supercross suspension and getting used to how the bike reacts with massively stiff spring rates. In complete contrast is the HRC bikes, which look like a joy to ride; they soak up chatter, have a great balance between using stroke without completely blowing through, and it seems like they ride very light and poppy without ever pinging all over the place. Credit to the Showa guys they got over there for sure. Of course, riding style has a lot to do with it too.

Also, I fully admit I have no idea what actual numbers re: spring rate or what kind of shim stacks these guys run, I could be way off in fact. But that's just what it looks like to me.

You have got to stop with the lip filler photos dude. Your photos album must be slap full of guys you don’t like with big lips. We don’t need to keep seeing your fetish dude. Relax with that.

It's not my fault the Deegans spend half their money on botox and fillers...

I was hoping for the same effect the blue fender on the ass of Hondas had on them.

The big issue here is Deegan ran his mouth leading up to the out door season, in saying that…. We all have opinions based on our experience. Let’s be real, how many of us have rode the pace of Deegan on a 450 with the power of Deegans bike? The more horse power you have and use the harder it is to get the bike to work properly. We all are comparing Deegan’s bike to the Lawerance brothers and Prado the only riders that have the same pace. The three of them have mutable years on 450s and have a lot of experience in set up on them. Deegan is a hard working rider and has been able to overcome any deficiency he had on the 250, I don’t see why he will not do the same on the 450. He needs time. He has been humbled and has been respectful since the out door season started. I my self am glad he got humbled. The hype was good for the sport Pryor to the start of the series but now it is time for his riding to do the talking which it has. Humble pie doesn’t taste very good.

He was also never losing by +20 on 250s

Yeah only the Hondas look good all the other bikes look horrible.  And the tracks r not that rough just fast road racing tracks, compared to when 2-st raced. Check out non sand tracks from 91 125 gp,s. Those tracks were rough.  Crazy high intensity back then & tight racing & so much quicker. now it looks like a bunch of 35+ riders .  They need to drop cc,s to 300 maybe the bikes would handle then .  And get better racing it’s like the 500 nationals now, snooze fest. And the 500,s handled better checked out the 91 races.  Or compare Larocco on a 93 500 to 26 racers.

Even JT said Hunter's Honda looked jittery and not like earlier races. But yes Deegan's Yamaha is a whole next level of unsettled - to his credit though - he rides through it and seldom crashes. Though as pointed out he falls off the pace quite a bit late in the moto.

Notice how everyone is now pointing the blame at the bike. Took Jett’s advice I guess

I don't think they need to change the ccs or rules at all ! Just because some riders/teams cannot setup their bikes?

Deegan may figure it out, but I think changing his riding style will be tougher than people think.  Guys like Hunter, Jett, Prado and Coenan have grown up being taught to ride the Euro way.  It's natural to them.  Deegan has always rode like he's on a supermini and the habit is going to be very hard to break.  He might better to embrace the supermini style and hope it works.

Imagine Deegs on one of those red bikes that seem to soak up the terrain a bit better?
Reed/Jordan and Deegs under the Wing?

Cope. No one said this shit until the last 2 or 3 rounds. Keep blaming the bike and he will never get a win

What if we are looking at this all wrong and it’s actually Chiz getting the bike ready for Chase 🤔

Chase isnt so sure about going Blue now after watching that pogo stick Deegs is riding.
I dont blame him.
Sounds like Reed mentioned it somewhere too.
Thats why I say it would be fun to see what 38 could do under the Wing.

I’ve said it since the first round. Also been saying it about Tomac and others for years, especially when compared to almost all of the overseas riders. The Lawrence’s have the best looking setups and I do not believe it’s the bike, it’s all how the overseas riders set their bikes up for actually motocross instead of setting it up like it’s outdoor supercross. Look at the Lawrence’s fork and shock work, the bike looks plush and the suspension soaks everything up. That’s not a Honda thing, that’s a great setup thing and it’s something our riders are missing big time.

I wont argue with you on that analogy. Makes sense.
