I agree, he is riding really strong lately. However, he hasn't finished a season without missing a few rounds due injury since 2019. He finished 6th in his rookie MXGP season. But his ceiling his high, he always had podium speed. Not for every round, but occassionaly.

Yeah and he would be a good rider to employ for a year when you can't find a proper number 1 rider that replaces Febvre.

To be honest, I would kinda like to see Kawi give Conrad one last chance at a factory rider. No real downside to it for them. If he sucks, well nothing new there. If he rides to his potential, he could do really well and make them look like a genius. Maybe now he would take full advantage of it being his last chance.

If not, call up Haakon Fredriksen.

Conrad is getting paid nicely to race at home, and is making a good job of it.

He will know that everyone who has jumped on that bike, bar for Febvre has massively underperformed, in that team.

He has a great bike at Honda, with top quality suspension, that is set up exactly how he wants.

At this point, i dont see him giving up what he has now, dont lose sight of the fact he grew up away from home , from a very young age, and is over all of that already.

As for Frediericksen, he is another scandinavian rider with brutal speed in the sand, that hasnt got him on a good ride, because he spent the prime years of MX2 injured, and keeps getting overlooked as a result.

I dont see how you let Jonass go, when there is literally nobody else.

Is Conrad even interested?

Dylan Farrandis is MXGP with IceOne Racing-Kawasaki should be a good one. Kimmi can pay him for sure.

Ruben Fernandez with KEMEA Racing i think be a good one.

I'd love to see Jonass get through a Season  without injury - he's such a good rider.

Mewse didn't even do the UK GP as a wildcard this year, why would anyone want to employ him for a GP ride with his history internationally?
Like PhilG mentions, he has a nice and comfortable thing going on doing the domestic series.

His life, his choice - but such a waste of talent, to settle as a big fish in a small pond.

He may look back, later in life, and regret it.

And trust me when I say it’s a very small pond.

Fredriksen has signed with the Official Yamaha French beach race team as replacement for Todd Kellet who went to SR Honda.

He is kinda set and makes a living out off that deal.
Pretty good move as he is an amazing sand rider.

He is still a young kid and could make a good living for allot of years of the beach race scene.

Ferrandis could be a good option, but i dont know how interested he is.

An interview with Lewis not to long ago he wanted a factory ride in the US or he would retire…

Guess it would depend how big the paycheck is in the end.

I am over the fact that he chooses to do home races only.

Putting aside the 'but he could do this'...

He is a sports professional.  He gets paid and makes a good living.

If he goes to and MXGP and jeopardises his chances of his biggest earning opportunity , just to please you, and gets hurt , what then?

And who pays?  The team isnt a GP level team in terms of infrastructure and budget, they do a great job with what they have, and have good equipment, and are the best domestic team in terms of support, but they realised a long time ago that GP's dont pay.

We should be asking why these guys are racing for peanuts at the highest level, rather than criticising them for not wanting to race for free.

every word of that is true, but it's still a waste of a huge talent - whoever/whatever is to blame..

Ferrandis is not interested to race the MXGP World Championship anymore. Even with a factory ride and a good salary.

If I was Kawasaki, I would definitely go after Fernandez. But I indeed read somewhere that he would go to Yamaha

Only if the money is nr. 2 rider money. I think he is good rider, but if i'm Kawa i'm not going to panic because i'm missing out on the championship contenders and then pay a non-title contender top money.

Could Dylan Wright be wooed away from Canada if Kawi wanted to take a flyer on him for a year or two?

Agreed Phil, I should have added the assumption that he can earn the same either way... and another issue is maybe that Honda wouldn't support him beyond the UK?...

... but surely most top athletes would WANT to race at the highest level they can? Including the MXdN?

Good luck to him, whatever. I have no strong interest either way - my comment was more about whether HE might regret it in future, looking back.

Is it a shame he never went on to be the next Jeffrey Herlings... yes.

But how many followed the same path...   Pootjes, Herbetreau, Hsu, and plenty of others who were killer fast on 85's and didnt get to show that potential in the bigger classes.

If Conrad had done that full season in EMX 250 and found his feet, rather than being hoofed in to MX2, it might have been different, but it is what it is, i am still lucky enough to see him race , and enjoy that .

He is a nice guy, truly humble , and i while i share your 'what could have been', i respect the fact that he has done what works for him, and made a living out of it , and hope he continues to do so .

Fernandez and Kemea Yamaha : done deal.

...for a lot less than he wanted.

If you want to make significant money in MXGP, you have to beat either jeffery or DeWolf or Gasjer or Fevbre.

Everyone else would make more money working a 9 to 5 job.

Spain’s average salary is €30K/year. For Dutchies it’s around €35-40K/year for those with no higher education. So they really would have to ride for next to nothing if they’d make more working a 9-5.

Well, that's called negotiation. I bet he has signed a good contract, he was the best rider available for a mxgp position at this moment and he probably knew it.
