Weird they wont do both at once. Doing them separately is twice the down time, which was something i told them i wasnt willing to do. Did both of mine at the same time. I did not have trigger finger tho. I am having elbow issues now and may go in for evaluation after Lorettas. CT surgery was the best thing ive done to help myself.

Whats the going price for the procedure? I'm rocking the typical usa citizen $5,000 annual deductible for elective surgery. Will both hands be more than that?

As with any procedure, different places can/will charge wildly different rates for the same thing. shop around. And make sure the Doc has good feedback ratings.

Wish I would have done mine 20 years ago, it's been awesome riding and sleeping without my hands going numb. I did the carpal tunnel and the ulnar transposition surgeries. Did my right arm and then left 2 weeks later. I returned to work the next day after both surgeries with common sense restrictions.

2 surgeries makes twice the amount of money vs one...

I rode my mtb bike the day before my second surgery, I waited for a month after the second one before riding. My doctor wanted the swelling to go down before I did anything with lots of vibration. Grip strength was down for 6ish months, but remember most of us riders have stronger grip than the average adult male. 2 weeks after the second surgery my weaker hand was already above the normal benchmark, and I thought it was very weak 😂.

The 1st DR did the electric tests on both hands and not insurance covered BTW and he swore that I needed both hands done even though my right hand has never ever had any tingling or numbness. That DR office did a lot of money grabbing going on taking 18 months with my back killing me then I bailed on them after 1st of the year insurance change and they lied that the new insurance was in network when it wasn't and not covered costing me $550 out of pocket just to talk to the surgeon and after talking with him my wife and I both left thinking he was a hack and NFW was he doing it … but thats another touchy subject.

It maybe that it’s going to be carpel + 4 fingers getting cut that they wouldn’t do both at the same time.  Its only occasional trigger finger on my right hand so I can wait on that.

Yay on my right mouse hand ,

Just had my left done 2 years ago.

I picked up trigger finger but it did go away then I couldn't squeeze a piece of paper  but that also on its own is gone.

My hands fell asleep riding , towards the end My hand would fall asleep on its own in the middle of the night and wake me up.

I had it done on both hands over 15 years ago. Instant relief and no issues since.

Bringing up an old post but I am going to have my left hand done at the Dr’s office right before Budds Creek. I have been dealing with carpel tunnel on and off in in my left hand for a couple years and had great success getting the injection but now something thats described as trigger finger has set in. Trigger finger is pretty much the same thing only its on finger tendons and surgery can be done at same time as carpel tunnel surgery.

They will not do both hands at same time.

Have any of you had the trigger finger surgery ?

I just tried to put up 2 pictures of my Trigger Finger Ops. but, can't get them to 'take' here.

Did 3 fingers on each hand, all at the same time. Little 3 stitch scars at the base of each finger.

Worked Really well .

As did the Carpal Tunnel Surgery I had years ago on both hands - just after my 2019 post here.

Next Hand Op: re- do my RH Thumb Reconstruction, It's Kaput, again - bugger.

Had a screw removed from one of my vertebrae last week - it was too long, and had been tearing into 'other parts' of my body for years. Fuggin' Doctors that don't use the Right Length screw for a Bloody Job ...... 🤬

I have had it done to each wrist twice. Both "open and closed" versions. The one thing not mentioned above...make sure you are not sleeping on your wrists. This is a big deal that is not always talked about!

Holy shit. What did they do rebuild your entire wrist? Lol. My carpal tunnel surgery looked nothing like that.

I ended up with trigger finger ( which went away ) and for 9 months couldn't grip thin stuff like a sheet of paper !

The Butcher , I mean doctor wanted to do Another surgery !

Being Right handed I could care less at the time and guess what ! , its all good now all on its own.

Getting mine done tomorrow morning.

Wish I hadn't seen those inclusions. Supposed to only be small incisions and go in with a scope to see and snip.

Had mind done last September. My palm had that deep bruise feeling for about 6-8 weeks but could use my hand fine. Felt 100% by 3 months and no more tingling at night, while exercising, or when riding. My Dr. said he won’t do both at same time also but my left has no issues even though the test showed moderate restriction. IMG 6066 4.jpeg?VersionId=pP2bVN ZFhZLoJNvOTAgD.W4

I’ve had different wrist surgeries recently.
Arthroscopic “grinding” of the bones to create clearance and on one, to remove a spur.

After 3 months of healing my wrists are better than pre op. Back on the MTB (which is life changing)

But I am now experiencing classic Carpal Tunnel numbness. I’m hopeful that it passes/heals

I’m told: if required, the operation is pretty minor. One of the surgeons had is performed on Saturday and was operating on people Monday!

Good Grief Oldschool - that's Bloody Horrendous!

Franken Scar !

Surely there was far more than just Carpal Tunnel Surgery performed, to have such a large incision?

Or, is the Doctor doing this, back in the Dark Ages / and / or incompetent?

I've had both hands done now, twice - with a decade between the first and 2nd, and you'd be hard pressed to see where it was done

That is just Un Fuggen Believable!

my carpal tunnel surgery was quite literally life changing for me. I had my left hand done in the winter of 2024, my right hand is scheduled for this October. I had dealt with numb hands while riding and racing since i started racing at 19, its been a terrible experience but i learned to deal with it. Both hands would get to the point where i could not feel the clutch or front brake lever, i would have to slow down and shake my hands until the feeling came back and thats on top of waking up every night with a numb hand. The surgery for my left hand was a piece of cake, i was out of work for 5 days, back riding in 4 weeks, and back to race pace in about 8 weeks. raced a 2 hour harescramble this past spring and my left didnt get even have the slightest tingle, my right hand was numb halfway through the first lap. A 1" incision changed my whole life for the better, it broke my heart knowing i couldve done this 20 years ago but here we are.

Same story here. I raced a regional at baja in 2016 and by lap two i had ghost hands. Was going to quit riding all together but once I had both hands done at the same time, it changed so much in my life. Had no real clue what i was dealing with was repairable. Dealt with it for 15 years. Im a painter by trade. Try holding a cut bucket and trying to cut ceilings in in an entire house with completely numb hands.
