Allowing E-bikes at Loretta’s

Before I get hate just hear me out on 3 points.I’m talking about putting them in vet classes that are open and have no displacement rules.
1. If Honda made the easiest bike to ride it would be allowed to race the class, so power delivery doesn’t matter.
2. I could build a 100hp monster big bored 450 and it would be completely legal, so power doesn’t matter.
3. I could build a whisper quite exhaust and that would be legal, so sound doesn’t matter.

Seems like a personal thing against e-bike from the AMA and MxSports. Prove me wrong with facts and not how you feel.

The fact is that it is too much of an advantage.  Too fast and easy to ride.  No clutch to worry about or gears to shift.   Making them legal would force everyone to have to ride one to be competitive.

Seems like the primary risk is riders crossing lines because they don't hear an ebike is behind them.

Makes no sense to not allow them. I get the sound deal...put a speaker system on them for racing so people know the bike is near...or far. But, to not allow electric is frigging stupid. They allowed 4t 250's to race 125's (which was a MASSIVE power difference, but that was somehow OK) and basically killed the local MX scene with that stunt years ago. 4 strokes are too god dam loud and have shut down more private riding areas just due to noise. I hope electric takes over a finally kills the 4t bike. OR...just bring back the 2t and get back to what racing should be. Either way, I hope the 4t dies a quick death soon. It has done ZERO to help the sport.

I agree for pro racing, but there is no reason not to allow them for vet "open" classes like the OP is talking about.

I thought they had a Stacyc class already? 😂

True, open classes should be whatever you want!

Are Rekluse auto clutches illegal in the open classes like the Vet, +25, etc? Or any other modifications to give your bike more power? It makes no sense to not allow them in the open classes.

Forget the "Like" button. We need an "Elect This Guy President" button.

I remember when 4 strokes arrived on the scene. Twice the displacement of the 2 strokes. Same reactions from the 2 stroke crowd, me included.

125's / 250s / 450s whether 2t or 4t all have one thing in common, they are all ICE engines.

Electric motors would have to be homologated and then what? Are we nerfing/buffing ebikes to make them relevant lol. Just race your own class and stop trying to validate sandbagging because you don't know how to shift or use a clutch.

Wait till the 2 rotor Emotor comes out!  Single rotor riders will be crying!

So a all e-bike class won’t have any one crossing lines?

Somehow all over the world people are racing Starks against gas bikes successfully and without issue, but here in the US it's still just too impossible to implement.  Keep in mind these rules come from the same organization that believes GoPros are dangerous, but razor sharp titanium footpegs are perfectly acceptable.

If it's an open class at a dirt bike race, I would think any dirt bike should be able to enter an open class. I'd at least settle for an e bike class though. I'm not sure what your point is with homologation and nerfing? It's a stupid fun bike to ride and it would probably be stupid fun to race too, but the AMA won't let me even touch the local track with one on a race weekend.

Are we going to retroactively strip Ashley Fiolek of all her wins now too? She figured out how to race with no noise.

Sorry, I forgot to bring up the lithium ion battery fires.  They burn super hot and cant practically be extinguished.

When the Japanese are ready to release E-bikes all of the AMA's complaints will be magically resolved...nothing changes until then, unless Stark decides to write a big check.😎

If everyone was on Ebikes it would be much easier to locate other bikes by sound, the sound from ICE bikes masks the sound of ebikes.

If you ride one with ICE bikes you'd be surprised how often people accidentally over move on you.

I love how Stark is  basically  saying " Hold my Beer" You think blocking and crossing lines will bean issue with our bikes. We will sign the master of doing those things at the highest levels of the sport to ride our bike in WSX. Vince Friese.........

Have there been a lot of complaints and crashes as a result? I've heard some riders say its strange and hard to get used to.

I can see how it could be a problem with not hearing somebody behind you. But that still happens with ICE bikes. I think its the only excuse they have that is somewhat valid. But I think the real reason is the same one that keeps 250 2 strokes from racing in the 250 class in the AMA series.  That not enough brands want them in the class. They all have a say in the rule making.

For local races allowing both 2 strokes and Electrics in helps turnout. And there have been people racing Vargs in NESC now for a couple years.  They were allowing 500 2 strokes in the 450 class for a longtime. I have not looked to see if that changed. In the 15 or so years I was going to 90% of the NESC races I only saw a handful of guys try racing a 500 in the 450 class. Back then it was called the 200+ class. But they allowed anything over 200CC's in it. Then had an open class too that allowed 125's , any bike with full sized wheels.   A few people every other year would try 2 strokes for a season. But most have been on 4 strokes.  I have not gone often enough to really say how many electrics are there and if most guys keep racing them. I know a few have stayed on them since they got on one.

Its funny, I find the most often that people who think they will hate electric end up having the most fun on them after a ride. And they understand the love some have for them .

Been to a local race lately? There’s already way too many classes thanks to little Timmy wanting to race 14 classes on his 65 and 85

I don’t think enough people ride them to have a class at Loretta’s.

Come on JM, how do you expect the AMA to know safety is not an issue when electrics have only been racing with gas bikes for 3 years in about 20 countries (and in the US in non-AMA series) ?

They'll catch up soon... anytime now... I mean when Honda is ready for pro racing.

Still hard to understand why it takes so long for them to provide a way for amateurs to race their electric dirt bike when so many countries already do.

In Australia Pro MX (25+1) Campbell raced Canberra (12/31) and Appin (15/15), Bishop raced Canberra (24/23), Toowomba (22/23) and Conondale (24/22). Now I don't know these riders not their usual level but they didn't seem to have any trouble finishing 25 min + 1 lap races (with top15 pace for Campbell).

Stark has also had an official team in France MX Elite for 2 years now, their MX1 rider Herbreteau was 6th in the championship last year. This year he had to race EnduroGP at the same time, missed some MX Elite rounds and did not do so good, was racing around top 15. He was still lapping about 6 s down from Vialle which is pretty respectable on a 2 min lap. Their MX2 rider, Lopes, ranked 10th in the championship, very promising as he was new to the category and to the bike. They finished all 25 min + 2 laps races without problem.

Electrics are also legal to race in all Triple Crown series since this year but I don't know if there have been any privateers racing them. Maybe @-MAVERICK- knows more about this?
