The wife and I travel every 2 weeks or so to Tulsa, OK from Tecumseh, Ok to visit her brother.  It's usually an hour and 45 mins or so door to door .

We have done this for 2 years now because his with died in 2024.  He had a small stroke so shuffles when he walks....65 years old had schizophrenia and paranoia.  He never got out unless we got up there to take him to Starbucks and weed dispensary  then let him smoke up and eat gummies so he could handle people before we went out to eat...but we had good conversations and a few jokes....

We had things happen 3 weeks in a row that stopped us from getting up there, mostly involving grandchildren and my mother. He said he was depressed and he wanted us to come see him..  this was Friday night a week ago we spoke ..

We called  this past Friday to tell him we were coming to visit.  We usually got there noonish on Saturday....

And no answer. . . .tried several times.

Sat morning got up, got in the car with the wife, conversation was subdued.

We got there and his pick up was parked outside the garage (garage was closed).

Before Jenny could turn the car off I was at the door and I found him.....

He had hung himself for me to find him.....wtf?

Called 911, fire came first but minute they saw they knew it was much to late....then came police and crime scene and house look thru.  The was mountains of door dash sack, he had not been outside in 3 weeks!!

Me and Jenny are both in shock I mean what the actual hell. I supposed to feel?

He was a very close friend/brother, we grew up at same time...I'm just shocked

I pray this never happens to anyone else here, God it's such a horrible traumatic event.

Cremation: 850 base, then add-ons ( like do you cremate him in cardboard or more like a coffins, then what do u you want them returned in plastic/metal/etc...death certificate extra too, total out layed so far to this event is 1600.00..cremation within 14 days....  Dying is a scam.....

I'm gonna put him and his wife in a couple pvc tubes with caps and bury them with posthole diggers on the old family plot...there are 2 spaces there....

This sucks fellas, don't wish it on anyone.

The Police lady officer was a Sargent and took over communication with my wife and and I though the process, we sequestered inside the house front room.very empathetic and kind...

Medical Examiners came after crime scene and finally cut down the body after 3 hours!

Body bagged him up besides his face.  They allowed us one last view of his face and took him.

Crazy Saturday, long drive home for sure...

I'm tired and about to lie down.....more tomorrow when I make sense..lol.

Holy .....

Thank you for sharing,  I have family friends that went through this with early age teenagers...

Again Thank you for sharing,  it puts perspective on what is truly going on in someone else's mind...you just never know. .

Friends had the garage torn down and demolished where they found thier son... trying to put some closure .

Wow...

Oh man, can't imagine what you and your wife are going through..... Maybe talk to a Pastor or counseling might help.

Same.

That was a tough read.

And can fully attest to dying being a big money grabber scam, happening at one of the most stressful times.

All any of us can do, at this end is offer our condolences, and support.

What a punch to the guts.  It's hard to imagine the mental torture some folks endure.... until they can't.   Peace man.

That is rough.

It is too bad Chance is on the sidelines. It seems like he had to deal with something similar and would be able to give you some advice on how to deal with this.

Dang Jimmy, as already said that's a tough blow. So sorry you and your bride had to experience that. It's absolutley normal to have emotions from one end of the spectrum to the other, and be mad and hurt at the same time. Prayers to you, Jenny, and your loved ones

Not that it helps ... you and your wife did nothing wrong. Life goes sideways for everyone at times and you have to deal with it as it comes. His issues weren't your doing and you went the extra mile week after week to help him. You and your wife are a blessing to him and your entire family, he knew that. It's incredibly difficult dealing with elderly unstable people, you did did everything right.

God bless you and your family and godspeed to your wife's brother.

Chance asked me to post this for him.

When I was dealing with my grandfather having shot himself, I was getting calls that were never ending. Though everyone meant well, the thought of giving me time to process it didn’t cross their minds. Everyone wanted to know, “what happened”…..  Friends, family, work. It was relentless. I. Just shut my phone off after 4-5 days. It was too much explaining. Over and, over.

At work, I finally had to be the asshole and say, have you ever fucking considered work is currently my escape from all this shit. People sometimes are incapable of reading the room.

I’m saying this because looking back, that was one thing that really bothered me. I needed time to process it.

It took a long time to readjust. Not reach for the phone when something popped up that I wanted to share with him out of habit. I didn’t have anyone to lean on because I had responsibilities as a father. My wife tried to be there but, I was a mess.

I buried what I was dealing with because I didn’t want to talk about what I saw. The blood. The mess I had to clean up.

It comes out in my sleep. I dream about it once a month or, so. Even 15 years later. I felt talking didn’t help with what I saw. I can talk about how I feel but, the images are always going to be there. It hurts. At the same time, day to day, it’s a lot easier. Like everything. It takes time.  Just like a MX injury, you have to give yourself time to heal.

Don’t be afraid to reach out if you need to vent. My number has been forwarded to you. I’m here man. 🤝

Hey guys, thank you for the many words of kindness and empathy.  This event really caught us unprepared, we are making our way forward.

The wife had therapy, she says it helped purge the image from her present state, which is good.

I tried to keep her from seeing to much but nothing was stopping her ....

I have been keeping busy with work and chores around the house...

I feel guilty. . . .even tho I shouldn't.

Tomorrow is another brighter day, im looking forward to it....

All of you guys are awesome.... Thank you for the phone numbers and for taking the extra step to look me up, ill not forget it

Jimmy

"I feel guilty. . . .even tho I shouldn't."

When those guilt feelings arise, just know, we only have control of our own person. At best, we may have influence upon another person but we have no control over what they do or don't do, and you should not (I know it's hard to accept) feel guilty. Whatever someone else does, it was not your doing, you can never control others. This was probably a predetermined outcome and the only influence you may have had, could have been to change the timing. Someone who has the determination to follow through with something like that will not be deterred by your actions.
