Well that's a hell of a word salad that unfortunatley didn't answer the simple question I asked....How do you know?....the posts below HTech made the comment that MXSports already makes enough money and I asked you know this how? you responded with your statement so I asked the same question How do you know that MXSports revenues have risen more than their costs...unless you are part of MXSports or on their accounting team you have no idea whether any of that happened....and by the way I'm calling BS on the "it's not AI"....

So what if it does?  If they earn revenue from it that is a good thing.

Because they already make enough on this week of racing. They're just going to run people off.

I find it very interesting that someone can make the claim that “Revenues have risen more than costs”. Honestly, statements like that ignore reality.

But, hey, I don’t want to interrupt this internet bitch-fest with facts. 🤣

You still haven't given an example of an analogous business. I'm sorry your Chinese goods are more expensive to white label or your labor is fatter than they used to be.

What simple economics are being missed? I never said costs haven't increased and I can't help but notice that no one has claimed their fees haven't gone up precipitously nor have they pointed to DC making any claims about reducing margins for the sake of the sport.

Achtualllyy maintaining a fixed margin would mathematically mean that top line increases more than bottom line. Ten percent of a larger number (gr) is inherently larger than that of a smaller number (costs). Isnt that simple economics? But again, if you think DC is a sucker and gave up margin for no reason then yeah, sure. I know 180solutions thinks he's the best bizness man ever, he'd agree with me this probably isn't happening.

Anyone familiar with the cost of broadcasting a live MX event?  Let’s forgo the CAPEX and focus on OPEX. 5-10 people over 5-7 days, lodging, food, insurance, transportation rental, etc. Low end is, what, $10K? Not a king’s ransom but not peanuts, either.

This issue isn’t charging, it’s the fee. Flo should produce a national-caliber product but not sure that’s what most LL viewers want.  Not sure what % of the $40 goes to MX Sports, but they apparently outsourced the event to Flo. In any case, 2026 is a trial with results TBD.

Yep know some people going to “volunteer” to help their chances getting selected for qualifiers and regional races next year

DC runs MX sports like a business man same as Trump or Musk run their businesses. Make as much money as possible. Why does everyone hate only DC?

It's not all hate, but a large part is he pretends it's not about the money at all.

He tends to hide behind "growing the sport" when he's just trying to grow his accounts. Which, as a business owner, is actually fine. Just own it.

Don't play the game of trying to make everything believe it's not all about the money.

Your hate for DC is unimaginable when all of your rhetoric is BS.  I don't know if you just aren't or weren't fast enough to qualify for Lorettas, cannot afford it, or just hate successful businesses.  I guess all 3 could be true.

Do you have the same feelings towards In N Out, Apple, Tesla, FedEx or any others.....or just the moto promoter whose family has dedicated two generations to GROWING the sport.

MX sports has done a lot to grow  both PRo and Am MX in the US since they have been running it. Yah You could argue that they are just incharge at the right time. But There are many race series that have died off  over the past 20 years too. So MX sports and the Coombs do deserve credit for helping grow the sport and bring in more exposure.  The added airtime of showing the qualifiers will give the racers that are on the bubble of making it a little bit more of a chance of being on the broadcast and getting some airtime for sponsors. And in return adding value to helping  kids go to the qualifiers . It may not be everybody all at once that benefits like that.

I do think that we will see a lot more support. The chance of AM moto becoming more of a spectator sport could also be big. If it was to become like college sports they could provide a lot more bang for the buck and at some point make it possible to make the entry fees not cost so much for racers that make it to the ranch.  No matter how or what the reason for SMX becoming a thing, Feld and MX sports were the ones that put that together.  And it is helping riders make a bunch more money. If the streaming contracts continue to grow, maybe they add more purse money to MX and SX too.

The thing is for a business to be able to help anybody, they need to make money and stay around. Nobody is perfect, and I'm not saying that MX sports or Feld are doing everything amazing. BUT they are the ones running the sport and have taken it to the highest levels its been as a spectator sport.  If Pro racing had to rely on bike sales and industry money alone  the purse money would be less and or riders contracts and bonuses would be less.  There are booms and busts' with bike sales and parts and gear. and up until very recently the sport wasn't making a ton of money for the people running it.

I ask everybody here, would You rather do what You love for a living and make just enough money to live, or do what You love and make good money doing it? Less of a chance of burnout , better chance the series survives when DC decides he's done. Its easier to sell a profitable company than one that provides "" love for the sport" alone.  If DC can make a lot of money doing what he loves,  AND help the sport grow its still a win.  Some things require funding before  new stuff can be implemented. So lets wait and see what this new funding brings before we decide its all going to DC's pockets.

Even if the profit increases, and margins stay the same. That would also mean that more was getting put back into the series if more money comes in, right?  Both things can be true. DC helping grow the sport  AND making good money.  Right?

Now the way that Feld wants to control the media , thats a bad idea.  So maybe we could complain about that. If You guys think motomedia is biased or bad ,now, wait until it's all owned by Feld. It's not going to help things move towards what anybody who has ever complained about moto media has ever wanted.

It takes away from the legitimacy of the sport. If They go to a monster truck like format of press coverage. and provide the footage and photos for all the  media that reports on SX, all the coverage will be so similar that it will be harder to stick out and do something different. Meaning that  all the podcasts and Youtube shows would feel very redundant. If everybody has the same interviews, videos, etc. You watch one of the Youtube or podcasts and Your done for the week until  race day. It allows the excitement to die off and  not stay on people's minds. All the filler content during the week is what helps keep moto on Your mind and helps build the excitement for the raceday. Trying to control stuff to that level doesn't seem to work out well.

Look at KTM and how they bullied dealers into building bigger shops, stopped allowing aftermarket parts that were not Powerparts.  and so on. Well now they realized that's not gonna work out. They need all that different stuff to help keep them going and relevant.  If control of the reporting is the only reason for what they want to do. I really hope they rethink and do not go that way.  I don't see many reasons for going to that model that would be beneficial  to the level of exposure they get  the way things are now. WIth all the ways of watching and learning about what's going on or went on.  I love how I can have something to listen to everyday. And have a choice of multiple sources and styles of coverage. I would hate to see it go away.

After riding around the pits tonight, I can tell you there does not seem to be a shortage of cash (or good credit) at the big show. People have been camped there for a week + for this. I pulled in today mid day and im damn near in the next county in lot 5. I guarantee you the people there paying 100 per device for wifi will be streaming the flo app in their rigs all week. Lol Place sure has changed since the last time I raced it 26 years ago.

If this were the standard in the 90s we never would have had a James and we never would have had a Ricky. Both were poor kids with insane talent. You want to frame it more as a business than a sport, and that's fine, but it shows where your values lie.

If the trend continues, we will deserve to lose to the Euros, as we continue to artificially restrict the effective talent pool for the enrichment of one family.

LOLZ!!!  That’s a whole new angle from you that hold even less water. Before it was MX Sports is greedy assholes that only care about money….now it’s about “underprivileged” kids.

Remind me the golden spoon Jett and Hunter were born into?  Oh yeah, they were eating packets of crackers for lunch all with the goal of getting here. How about the myriad of American Pros that are competing now who didn’t have those resources. If you’re fast the money will come from somewhere.

Not only that but let’s be honest the free stream didn’t have the best camera setup. With them now charging $40 for the races, are they upgrading the cameras and viewing angles? If not, then that is a total joke.

Yeah & it looked liked the camera man was a 1/4 miles way . You couldn’t even read a bike #.   Matty B has great up close & the best angles at LL & the nationals.

I truly understand what point you are trying to make, I sincerely do.  But what boils my O+ is when Cotter and Crew asks me to come work their event, 12 hour plus days, all knowing what I do for a living, and  asking me to do said work at their event.....for 100 bucks a day, with no place to sleep provided, nor meals.  "It's not much pay Bub, but it's for the love of the sport!"    Willing to bet the entire farm, and your house cat, his ass isn't making poverty pay while he is on the job at the ranch.  That piss poor excuse to get slave labor there PROVES greed to me, and nobody will ever convince me otherwise.  So yes, I will never have an ounce of regret being negative towards the MX Sports clan.  They have taken an honest, family fun sport the working class family could take part in, and turned it into something that the have nots can now call a pipe dream.  But one important thing to remember......  It is simply another amateur MX event hyped up to better your life if you participate, AKA cash grab.

BTW,,,,  If you would like to watch this God attended event from home, it will NOW cost you a subscription plan from here forward, as we no longer can provide the prior free service for all our race fans.  But no need to get upset about the cost, because it is all "For the love of the sport."  Thank you for understanding.

Right?

I can understand feeling like that. And I don't really have a good response for it. I'm not thrilled they are charging now either. I have also complained about it. But at the sametime I'm trying to find a positive in it. It's surprising that pay ,  it's still that little. The local races were paying that much 20+ years ago for flaggers or people scoring.    That is  crazy , Unfortunately as long as they have people willing to do it, they are likely to keep paying that little.

Greed ruins everything it touches.

Years ago I saw DC at some nationals , I was going to a lot of them in the early 2000's. up until 2010 . then fewer until 2016 and have had to help  either my Mom or Dad with health issues until just recently. So it's been forever since i've had any kind of personal interactions with him. I hope that they can strike a better balance of greed and love for the sport and not let greed ruin the sport in the long run.  I never interacted with Tim Cotter , saw him around the tracks  . But DC seemed like  really decent person back then. I guess people change. I hope that this increase in funding can get spread around and change the ways they are doing stuff like You talked about in the near future.

This was def the case at Washougal. It was packed - the biggest crowd I've ever seen there - and there was no good place to watch from. Granted, even on an empty day there's no single place where you can see even half the track, but with the new 8-foot chain link everywhere that blocks your view, the fence lines being moved 10 feet farther away from the track, and the VIP sections taking the best spots, it may have been the last Washougal I go see in person. I usually move around a lot on race day, but that was a waste of time this year with all the impeded views.

One positive is that they eliminated all the VIP platforms that lined the whoop section a few years back and left that open to the GA fans. But the chain link, hay bales, and distance from the track made it less than optimal. Most people there were watching the huge screen they had mounted in the trees so they could see what was happening. Depressing as a spectator even given the awesome weather and fantastic track conditions.

I snuck into the Fly VIP tent (on the corner after the Chuck Sun jump) at the end of 450 moto 1 and frankly, the view there wasn't great either.

I agree, the VIP stuff is getting bad. If you don't buy the $300+ whatever dollar VIP experience you're left with peanuts. The hill at the ski jump was the best spot I could find this year for a decent view of the track. We did that for first motos then went to Joey's camp at the torco turn for the rest of the motos and pretty much bullshitted with people we don't see that much anymore. Then we went back to the motorhome and watched the replay so we could actually see what happened LOL. We actually had a good time though this year. Sebastian Toth got us on his pit crew ticket list so we were able to buy tickets that had full pit access. Got to bs with Hunter on press day. He and his mechanic came out from the tent to pet our Rotties. We made it on the broadcast for a nanosecond. It was pretty funny to see my dogs on the broadcast with Hunter petting them. What a genuinely cool guy and a dog lover to top it off. My wife is a big Hunter fan and it completely made her Washougal trip this year. Mine too honestly.

SHHHHH.......That statement just set off the alarm that screams "something is getting seen un-monetized!"Their "thinktank"goes into full overdrive knowing we saw something without paying.Next they will find a way to limit Burkeen or any other coverage. No way should anyone be able to watch amateur kids ride their bikes. We should be ashamed of ourselves taking money right out of their almost empty pockets that they use just to scrape by running this race.We are told this is good for us and for amateur mx. I guess we just don't understand, thanks for caring about us and doing what's good and right,we's just nots bees smarts enoughs to knows this bees good four us.

So who's actually paying to watch? Someone start a poll.... I'm not. Few dollars or ad supported version, sure....

Like most, in past years I've had it on in the background or turned on a few hyped up races, but I'll be fine without it and I'm not about to pay this much.

I think they made a big mistake going this route and I'm betting very few people not already subscribed to flo get it just for LL.

Burkeen and others will be shut down before the end of the week as soon as people on the flo side figure it out.

Watching matty b’s videos on YouTube is satisfying as it’s where it should have been anyway.

They are directly complicit in the absolute retarded double displacement rules for the 4 strokes and haven’t done a thing to make it fair/

They are directly complicit in the 4 lap moto, 770 classes per day, sand bag fest known as amateur Mx.

They are good  organizers  but maybe besides only growing the profits, they could do some improving? Make amateur motocross worth showing up for? Make tracks safer? Make riding and racing better for all of us.

Nah just bleed the community dry.

Sick.

By the way wheres your bicycle weekend pass, and your mechanic pass, and your parking pass, and your gate pass, and your entry fee, and your class fees for the 17 classes you’ll have to sign up for to get an hour of track time between all of them.

Remember when boxing was a huge sport in the US? The fights were carried free on network tv.  Everyone knew or had heard of Muhamid Ali, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ceasar Chavez, etc.

Then boxing went Pay Per View, and the last well known boxer of the beginning of Pay Per View era is probably Iron Mike Tyson.  That's been decades ago.

95% of the population now couldn't name a current boxer in any weight class, much less the title (belt) holders of the classes.

Thats what happens when you take a sport for the masses and whittle it down to a niche group of fans. Boxing lost 95% of a casual fan base that knew of the sport, what the sport was about, where certain fights take place and are coming up, to literally Zilch. The nobody cares scale!

Now moto was never there, but for the 50-60% more people whois  did tune in to races for free on network or cable tv, those folks exited long ago like boxing. What is left is our small community who does care enough to purchase streaming networks subscriptions to watch racing. But with everything getting zapped from our pocket books now, an economy that leaves little extra, and certainly the bad taste in our mouths from Flo the last go around, this is enough for many of us.  I know I'm not taking on another subscription service, and certainly not Flo.

So good luck, good riddance, and do what you can to not just survive, but thrive.

And that means, quit giving everyone else your hard earned dollars.
