I don't know if I would call it a rumor, it seems more than that, until there is a reasonable explanation. A prominent family in the industry discussed it publicly on their podcast, and ML confirmed a pro racer in a separate series had taken a year to get paid. I owned a business for many years, we did not work for people who took more than 30 days to pay, they were not honest, credible, or reliable.
I guess I'm not really sure what's gone on in the last decade regarding the payments to the pros but back in the early to mid 2000's when a friend of mine qualified for a couple nationals we went up to the payout window which was the ama trailer and he got paid that same evening.Not sure when it changed not getting paid same day?

I think different industries hv different payout windows. In trucking a broker has 90 days to pay. Not many can pay for fuel , tires, crazy high insurance. That’s why a real o/o is rare. You can sign up for e pay it’s takes 3% off. Doesn’t ca. hv an entertainment tax ? The nfl players got screwed on playing in ca. for the Super Bowl big time.

You guys have to quit taking everything that is said on podcasts or vital so literally. I would bet money that the few people who have taken longer to get paid the problem is on the riders end.The WSX rider that I asked ML512 about who said in passing that it took over a year to get paid could have been the same kind of deal but I think its very rare when there is a payout problem otherwise it would have blown up years ago.
Wsx pays the teams then the teams pay the rider could have been on the team.
Exactly, I didnt even think of that but I agree. There are so many different things that could have happened and I though it could have had to do with maybe protests or Vince Friese take outs etc.

Keefer made his point very clearly on his podcast. That's on him. Are we supposed to hear that and immediately assume it's just a mistake on the part of the Keefers? That is NOT how it was presented, and the backlash since is mostly appropriate.
Of course there will always be idiots who take it to the extreme, but it was a valid question to be asked after Keefer said what he said on a podcast available literally to anyone with internet access.
His back pedaling on here didn't help.
I would probably accept that, except a prominent rider was named that surely has been previously paid, didn't. The main thing I gathered, that made it more suspicious, is that when it was the AMA not paying, he had no problem saying the things he did. But when the facts were given, that AMA does not pay out, things changed quickly. Jmho

Seems like if there was a problem with payouts that noone would be getting paid??? Why would they only pay some riders? Makes no sense.
The rider are 1099 they're independent contractors and you fill this form out during your licensing process it's all part of it. They won't issue your license if you don't.
Back in the day we got cash at the track. On the flattrack side it ended when someone stole Mike Hale's camel challenge money.

Aden: “Yeah. Everyone’s been saying that. We’re seven rounds in, people. Nobody has gotten paid.”
Kris (likely): “No one’s got paid yet. So, you asked Gavin too?”
Aden: “Mom, no one’s gotten paid.”
Heather (likely): “Nobody has gotten paid. How does that happen?”
Kris (likely): “How does that happen? Like, what if I’m a privateer traveling?”
Aden: “No, seriously. I need the money.”
Kris: “Are you sure that you haven’t got paid? Before I start getting mad.”
Aden: “No, we have not got paid, because Mitchell Oldenburg just went up last weekend and asked, and they said, ‘Oh yeah, no, we’ll look into it.’ That’s all he said.”
Kris: “Okay, if this is true—if these riders are seven rounds in and haven’t got their purse money from round one yet—that is wild to me. If you want these riders to travel to these races, how can they do that if they do their job and then do not get paid? And what other job do you not get paid at least every other week—every two weeks?”

Kris: “Seven weeks? Are you kidding me? Heather, have you looked in his account to see if he got paid yet?”

It would be interesting to see a list of those paid and not paid. Maybe it's a way to dissuade some from going race to race, and keeping top riders only? I'm only asking questions, not insinuating or guessing. Just lots of questions, have we.

i would presume AMA pro issues the licence, and mx sports pays the prize money , different entities,

Nice find 3-St , 100% do a LLC buisness & not a s corp if you don’t do quarterly taxes the penalties r harsh. I asked my much older 2 sisters that hv a masters degree in buisness. About how to do it. Weirdo jealous stuff from the past they said no & I never had any small buisness schooling . I googled co.s that do it zen buisness had 4 stars. I did on my phone answer a few questions & choose a name. A email is sent with your ein/ tax id # . Take that to a chase bank to open a buisness account. Get a cc to with your buisness name on it too. Now you can write everything off . The track gives you a w9 because there a buisness.
