Tuning Into MXGP for the First Time This Weekend

The racing is good. The variety of tracks is eye opening (not always for the best). But the production is so good it makes it worth paying for it every year. 

If you haven't been tuning in, you've missed some awesome racing....

+1 here for becoming an instant Sacha fan, 3 turns into the first Moto 

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. 

Hard to make time to watch all the racing over there but when I have the two things I noticed, those boys are not afraid to run it in and rub elbows and the broadcast is so much better with Paul. 

As a race spectacle it’s every bit as good as US Pro Motocross.  

Some of the tracks are a bit dodgy but the best are up there with the best tracks in the US.  Generally the tracks are a bit narrower and slightly more technical and lower speed than the US.

TV coverage is excellent, Paul Malin is streets ahead of the US commentators and the producers are quick to show overtakes and crashes that were missed by the main feed.

250 racing is great - Sacha is fastest on his day and without crashes but the field is deep and there’s a few guys who can beat him straight up and bunch of othered not far off.

450 class is a bit the Coenen/Herlings show at the moment but if those two slip up there’s a solid pack of 6 or so guys not far behind who are all capable of winning races.  A LOT of world titles and MXoN winners in the 450 class.

Malin is simply the best 

Yep! His commentary skills and deep knowledge are a fantastic asset for MXGP coverage.

Everyone's tuning in to see the bros. Coenen ... that's cool. They're leading the points in MXGP and deserve to be there. 

There are some other amazing talents that have been giving them a hard time, lately. Definitely worth tuning in for some incredible MXGP racing!

Unpleasantly surprised me with the $150 dollar price tag

Cheap! 

The Supermotocross international video pass was about $270 aussie dollars. Which is extortionate considering how much the domestic US stream is.

I’m guessing that’s for a full year which includes MXoN.  Not bad really.

The behind the gate YouTube series about mxgp is excellent too. Great way to learn about many different riders as well.

It does. During the MX weekend off I rewatched last years MXoN.

For as many races as you get the $150 is pretty cheap per race.

 It gives you a bit of time to make sure it's all gone through. Plonking yourself down to watch it for the first time Live, can find you being told you can't log in. I see it every now and then from people who have only just signed up / paid up.

You get a lot of coverage with the mxgp-tv pass compared to what you get for the U.S. stuff. And like everyone else has said, Malin is simply way better than all the U.S. production by himself. He’s quite hilarious too. Said rhe reigning mx2 champ he needed to pull his finger out as the gate was getting ready to drop a few weeks ago was priceless.

If you wait until July they run a ~50% off deal usually. Might have missed it already, or it's still there. It's a better deal to me because that's nearly what I was paying to watch MXON on its own, and MXON is included.
