The pace is a lot better than some folks are giving credit for, just needs some starts and he is a solid threat for the podium.

I could’ve sworn he was top 5 around the second corner yesterday first moto. Cant expect much more than that against HRC and Prado

And what does that have to do with the results he’s getting?

It really isnt mate.

Its poor, very poor.

Tony Cairoli just got off the couch at 40 and ran in the top 10.

The fact he went 6-5 but was almost a minute off the win tells us all we need to know.

Is he riding well, yes, am i surprised,no.

He is doing what at least 15 250 guys could be doing , if they didnt stay down to try and win half a SX Championship every year for 10 years.

Irony is, he would be a shoo-in for an MXoN place if Kawasaki actually went.

Pleased to see him making the decision to hire him a good one, now we need to see who they can get to replace Sexton.  I think it wont be anyone better than him. Who is there that will go there?

No Tomac, Cooper, Sexton, AP, Anderson, Mookie, Savatgy. The season looked promising for a minute but anyone not named Lawrence is definitely benefitting from attrition.

Most of the top 15 are 250 or 450 champions.  It would be great to have the above mentioned riders out there, but yes, this is stacked.

I’m saying he isn’t in position to complain about the team or bike. He just has to dog it out. Which he is.

Please recognise the sarcasm in my posts sir.

Jett couldnt make up the 5 sec deficit to him in moto 2. So he's riding great and the Kwaka is a decent bike, just needs to right rider, Im looking at you Jo Shimoda.

Marchbanks puts in the work and makes shit happen. You’ve gotta love that.

If…that’s “if” he can get to that next tier of speed…as a rider…?

Well, that’s when he drops the mic. And…I, for one, am hoping that happens.

Based on everyone else's mess, I'd say he has had a season so far that can be proud of.

Maybe the setup just works for him.

Garrett is riding great. Does anyone think his results would be better on another brand? I don’t. Makes the Kawi thing all the more perplexing.

We have a 4 time world champion racing our series who still hasn't won a moto. What exactly do you consider a stacked field?

There have been two different moto winners, that doesn’t make the field stacked because a single former World Champion hasn’t won a moto.

I think the stacked field argument gets muddied up because the top 4 guys are much faster than the rest of the field. However, that 5-15 group is really fast. I think that earning points this year is harder than it has been in recent years. Some people see the same guys winning each week and forget the freight train that is running right behind them.

Marchbanks has done an awesome job of being consistently near the front of that 2nd wave all season. Any of those guys makes a mistake and you’re not losing 1-2 spots, you shuffled to the back and have to start all over again. Look back at Prado’s attempt to come from behind at Hangtown moto 2, he was picking people off until he got to that group and kind of stalled his push forward. It’s stacked just not a ton of potential winners.

And "good start" is relative. Like I wouldn't consider 6th around the corner a good start for Jorge or Hunter, but that's what Garrett needs to get to.

"I start 10th and finish 5th, y'all say good job! I start 1st and fade to 5th y'all say you suck..." Or something like that, DV is awesome 😂.

Only three riders have finished sixth or better in every moto after round one this season: Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, Garrett Marchbanks

The competition in the US is so good even a four time world champion hasn't won a moto. I guess was my point... Am I wrong?

If the 450 class in the US is so depleted like multiple people in here claim it is, then where is all the amazing competition lining up at? Even the MXGP'S have super low turnout right now. Literally 20 guys lined up this weekend in the MX2 class.....

I do see what you’re saying, but it seems like there’s quite a drop off, after the first few guys. Unless something odd happens, I’d expect Lucas and Sasha to both be on the podium. I see a stacked field as 6 or 7 guys being capable of winning and it not being a surprise when they do. Seems like some weirdness has to happen for the top few guys to not be on the podium consistently right now.

He's a good second rider outdoors for a factory team. Still he needs to perform better indoors, the good results on paper were mostly because of the very thin field we had for a long duration. But i'm sure he will be a bit better next year.
