Anyway, it's been fun winding you fuckers up about Jett being the latest FMOTP, just like it was when Coldenhoff was FMOTP on several occasions and still you guys take the bait. Cheers and see you next year for Aussie take outs and domination. Again
Damn and I thought team USA won the MXoN this year and not the one man show from down under but I guess 3rd is as close as the kangaroo boys will ever get. Cool

Watching Jett on Saturday, he looked like a lock to go 1-1 for the majority of race 3, couldn't get it done because Renaux was also on another level, Jett is incredibly scary though after one race

Well even without Tomac next year's Nationals are going to be interesting. Ferrandis won't be taking any flak from junior and Sexton - well he gave Tomac everything he could handle so I am not expecting any less next year.

You might as well just jump on the band wagon of believing Jett is the fastest in the world. You know you all would have ran his name through the dirt if he got 10th, so you might as well hype him up when he wins

Tomac is the fastest guy on a dirt bike. Won both of his championships and mxdn. He's also more consistent then most only people because he doesn't seem to injury him self. Jett crashed out of his supercross season before it had even started, lucky for him he made the east coast but you don't get that chance on a 450

That is a pretty strong argument. Tomac is very safe. By his own tacit admission though he has had to pull the beast mode speed back to stay safe.
The average times and speeds posted elsewhere didn't have him on top. A lot of people had memory holed Ferrandis' ability and that made Eli and Chase seem a bit faster.

People choose the measurements that suit their opinion.
Lap time, race result, season result, career results, and some,
“cuz he looks so fast”.

He should be in the 450SX class full time this year if he’s the generational talent like everyone says.

Carmichael, Pastarana, Reed, Stewart, Villopoto were out of 250SX last in 3 years or LESS. I would be capitalizing $$ with YouTube one advantage those guys never had

Stewart had Jett's passes on Sexton, and others, on video loop during his MXON breakdown show. He was rightly having a good chuckle about it.

James was on another level when he entered the 125's. No one was even close. Jett isn't as dominant but there is more competition now. That doesn't mean Bubba wouldn't have dominated today. Bubba would probably dominate in any two year span in the history of the 125/250 class. In the long run James and Jett might have had a good scrap since Jett has shown he has speed and keeps it on two wheels. I put them at similar levels overall, kind of like James was on a similar level to Ricky even though Ricky was more consistent than James was. Time will tell but Jett is on a good trajectory to win as many titles and races as James.

How about ignoring years in the class and focusing on age.
Jett turned 19 6 weeks ago.
Jett will be going full-time 450 at 19 years and 8 months of age.
Carmichael went 250 full-time at 20
Villopoto went full-time at 20
Reed went full-time at 21
All older then jett.

Pastrana went premier class at 18 and never won a race again?
Stewart went 450 just after his 19th bday.

So using age as the factor he is stepping up younger then everyone important except stew.

The hunter kids repaid their parents for those losses.
Then dazzy hunter is praccy mechanic, track maintenence crew, and team leader. Thats dazzy hunters job and he earns a pay check from the kids for that. And thats what pays the bills.
Dont make it sound like the parents sit at home with a hand out. They are out there earning their wage.
They parents deserve everything they get! They sold their house to fund their kids dreams.

That right there is hard core!

At least FMOTP appeared organically
Ricky named James 'FMOTP'. It was a strategic, grandmaster chess move. 'GOAT', however it came about, is difficult to dispute simply because there is a record book.

Reed actually went to the big boy class at 16. He just had to drop down for year when he went to the US.

He turned pro younger than most of those guys, I'm going to guess. All those guys you listed did 3 yrs on a 250 just like Jett. Although if he does 250 sx again that with be 4 sx seasons on a 250. One more than most of the riders you listed. 2 more than RC actually

I think one of the hardest components of transitioning from being a successful 250 guy to the 450 is how to manage a/both series’ properly. It’s taken Tomac several years to really master that but now he has, 2022 was truly his year. And Sexton almost nailed it this outdoors series; though he didn’t have the same success and consistency indoors.
Jett’s speed is clearly there, I don’t think he’ll struggle in that department. But the maturation process may take some time when it comes to becoming a full time 450 guy and translating the speed into results (I think back to Carmichael in ‘99).
I think in order to contend for FMOTP (which is subjective and can’t ever be definitive) you surely have to stay in the fight all year and be the best all round. While I agree that Ferrandis was on rails today, it was just one day. He maybe even set the fastest lap in both his motos. But he also crashed pushing the pace. So time will tell. One thing is for sure, the future of motocross is looking bright. Next season will be epic

I like some of these old comments.
