Im just wondering, why is everybody hating on KTM's?

i mean they have mx1 andmx2 world champs under their belts.
Cairoli is amazing and world champ for ktm
Nagl is fast as hell and runner up world champ
Roczen is the superkid of the world
Herlings is fast as hell and is to watch for
Musquin is a world champion x2

i dont get it. ok 800 is having a tuff time, but i believe short would not be any higher in the points or position on any other brand or ktm450. i think shorty is doing fine tbh.

BUT

i wunder if in 2012 when roczen herlings and musquin also maybe cairoli are doing really well in the ama will everybody be saying ktm's are so great. or if the PC KTM rumour comes off will they be so great then???????????

Also the 350 rules the WORLD. and it was awesome at the gp of glenn helen both 222 and 800 against 450's holeshot. 222 won 2010 on a 350 easier than 2009 on yzf450

Really man...............Its not even really about Ktm bikes man...... Anyone knows That in that level its about all Rider..... IT FACT THAT KTM is keeping alessi on the TEAM... There are more than a handfull of Guys on the track without a "FACTORYRIDE" That make the Main and Finish in the top 10 everyweek... Alessi has made his money and other people that can make the main deserve his job!!!

And one thing you gotta remember. With most US mx fans, if it didn't happen here, it didn't happen. I'll bet World titles mean little to the majority of those piling on.

I look at shorty and hes right where he would be if he was riding a 450, MA is the problem not the bike IMO. I have a feeling if alessi flops next race he wont be on team KTM.

I disagree.
Short should be doing better than 10th. he should be beating Millsaps, Windham, Metty, Tedesco etc... He should be hovering around 6th in my opinion, not 10th.
No doubt in my mind that 350 is holding him back. And he knows it.

Because they're becoming so popular & people feel threatened that their American (oh sorry - I mean Japanese) bikes will get surpassed.

The brand loyalty towards Honda, Yamaha, etc. cracks me up, you would swear they were American Companies.

It's been demonstrated in Europe what can be accomplished on a KTM when the best rider is on the bike. You win a championship. And forget the 350 vs 450 thing. This thread is about KTMs in general.

Hate for KTM is a mullet mentality. Through out the past, you had to hate on the KTMs if you were going to be a hard core moto guy.

I think it's highly unlikely that Andrew Short knows what you think of the 350.... otherwise he'd have never signed for them

thankfully he's got his own, much better informed opinion of bikes...

I don't understand it either. They're great bikes, probably the most innovative and best-engineered dirt bikes in the world. They made a fundamental mistake of producing a great amateur bike - the 350 - and trying to promote it as a great pro bike, but I'm glad they make it and if I was looking for a new bike, it'd definitely be orange.

Besides that, KTM is the only factory in the world that has it's heart in motocross. The rest of them are just going through the motions. That should count for some good vibes from motoheads.

I never could understand why people hate on KTM. They are a smaller company who's only interest until recently has been dirt bikes. They are very innovative, use top quality components and offer bikes in all sizes and both two and four strokes. The jap companies make more street bikes and quads than anything else, took their two strokes off the market and ran, and beyond that, if you put the same color plastic on all four you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference (save the yam 450).
More people are coming over to KTM recently though, maybe it's the linkage, maybe the quality or their reputation for fast motors. Whatever the case, the secret is out. I think I liked it better when I was one of the few who "knew".

Short has historically been a top 3 starter.

Short's starts in 2011

Anaheim 1 - 10th
Phoenix - 12th
Los Angeles - 8th
Oakland - 15th

The only thing that's changed is his move to a less powerful bike.

Well, I agree 1000%. Let's not let the fact that the KTM 350 is a first year model for 2011 get in our way. And since the Loretta Lynn's amateur nationals run once a year sometime in early August it is very true that the 350 hasn't won a Loretta Lynn's Championship.

How many of the guys you just listed can winning in the US? Maybe Roczen, not listed is Pourcel who I think is your best chance, but not this year. I hate that they call it the "World Championship" when everyone knows that only 3 or 4 of those guys could even run top 10 here in the states. Sure KTM is winning in Europe but the fastest guys arent racing in Europe are they? And to your last point, 800 was the only "big" aremican name racing that day. Now look at him.
