For a guy working his way back into things, Shimoda is right where he needs to be.

When will he begin his ascent and begin running away with this title?

I think Kitchen and Shimoda are going to be the guys by halfway. IMO the title will be who can over come bad start or crashes better and that man to me is Shimoda. My pick to win it all.

I also thought Deegans style didn’t look good on the 450. The 250 and 450 are the same height yet somehow he looked way smaller on it. Seems like he was in the attack position way lower than normal? I’m not an expert on style lol. Something just looked different to me. One of my questions going forward is if we see a style change from round 1 to round 2

Sexton was surprisingly better than I thought he was going to be. I want to see if he can take the fight at one of his better tracks. If he keeps it on 2 wheels his finishing position at Hangtown I think will tell us a lot going forward. I think he’s going to struggle on the deeper prepped tracks east coast

PC curse. Please break it this summer. Seems like anytime these PC guys get any kind of momentum going, it goes away.. fast. Hopefully it’s not at RD 2. There was a time you started wanting someone other than PC to win. Now I think we’d all like to see Mitch get one more. Can’t imagine he has too many years left as TM

Deegan is not normally ducking Roost the entire moto.

I chuckled at this...  I literally watched him come out of a corner and totally duck his head to avoid the roost.  They all do it at times, but it was so pronounced.

Hunter continues the roll he's on?

Is this the Jett we see all year, good but not the best?

Can Deegan get a top 10 start?

Sexton is easily P4 last weekend if he doesn't tip over both motos and maybe sneaks in P3...  He was better than the results showed, but for 2 little mistakes.  I look for him to be better this weekend.  But the top 5 are simply bad dudes...  Can he podium?

Kitchen has to find a way to have 2 "normal" motos.  Not another 1-9...

Hymas and Shimoda can't do that again.

Can Dudney do that again?

Is Lux now the next best guy?  Fighting for a factory ride?

Shimoda needs to grab this thing by the horns.  If not now,  it'll be never.

Can Levi Kitchen put two motos together... ever?

I did not expect Beaumer to be so strong right away. Is he going to fade or get stronger as the season goes on?

Sexton was sneakily good.... will it continue?

Prado and Hunter lived up to my expectations... was it a fluke or will it continue?

Is Jo steal healing? Not one podium?

Is Forkner really this bad? Was it a bad race?

Are we going to see more 6-4 days for podiums?

Is Marchbanks that much better on a 450? Didn’t have him battling with guy like AP and Ferrandis.

What can Deegan do with a start? I feel like he’s still the 4th best guy regardless of starts. Does a guy like Deegan holeshot and still get 4th?

Will Prado be willing to take a bunch of seconds and stay motivated? Or is Jett and Hunter going to out overall him making him 2025 Prado further into the season.

Was DB right about Dudney? Sneaky title threat?

They completely removed his brain and sent it to Geneva to be worked on then sent it back and  reinstalled it.

Is Davies a true contender? He has a lot of media hype but that second moto was a pretty bad fade.

You can fix the fitness. He has the speed. Only Hunter had a faster lap in the 2nd motos Saturday. Obviously Cole had a smoother track but still. And it was only his 3rd or 4th National

Ehhhh technically speaking if Prado podiums again he is not of the "George" nickname.

  • Jett's brother
  • Hunta's brother
  • Jesus' son

Is there a moto podium without a Lawrence on it this season?

What legend will Marchbanks dive bomb and take out on the first lap?

Just saw this. How in the world do you dive bomb someone from the outside 😂. Wild comment

Will we see a non-factory Ducati on the line this summer? Surely there's a Ducati dealer out there ready to set up a bike for a decent rider? How about it, www.motocorsa.com? Plenty of time before Washougal!

My biggest concern is how Jetts foot injury is going to hold up. I was really shocked and didn’t realize how badly he was injured. Looking forward to see how Danger Boy will come out of the gate as well as adjustments made to the bike and his riding if it will be enough to make the podium.

This is actually one of the most unknown seasons in recent history. I wouldn't say there's a complete favorite in either class. Exciting times!

If 4 can ride to his potential and not tip over or crash, I expect him to be on the podium.  Could legit see Sexton, Jett, Hunter, Jorge, and Deegan battling for top 5 and Hampshire and JCoop being spoilers.  I’d expect Chase as the most likely to make an error, though.  I hope Jett is slightly better than last week.  Hunter and Jorge are the best RN.  Deegan needs to learn to ballerina the 450.  Riding the 450 like the 250 won’t work.

From watching Jett's improvement from 1st practice to the last moto, you could see him getting better and better, he could very well go 1-1 this weekend. But I'm thinking big brother goes 1-1 and Jett 2-2 with Chase going 4-3 for third. JP & HD will battle for 4th.

The only thing you can take away from rd 1 is that you can't take anything away from rd 1. It is always like that.

Someone on IG just posted a video of Jett (moto 2 - 25 min mark) doing an insane jump combination with the comment "is he alien"

He will go 1-1 within the next 2 rounds and go on to win the Championship...

The Triumph’s fighting there, too.

Someone form the Sacrament - Hills of the Sierras should show up on a GasGas made to look like a Maico and running anything “42”…

Like 442, for example. IYKYK

As to Deegan looking "different" on the 450...no expert here, but clearly he has probably found that he can't fling the 450 around, or stuff it into corners aggressively like his style on the 250 was, because of power and maybe a weight difference. Indeed, he might be lowering his positioning for more control and he appears "smaller" on the 450  as a result. He looked different in an actual race situation than he did hauling ass around a practice track for sure. He'll figure it out, and improve.

I think maybe Sexton has decided to quit complaining, quit overthinking, and just "ride the bike". I definitely see some podiums & maybe a win or two before the series wraps.

Deegan was a beast in the 250s no doubt, but 450 is a whole other beast and he didn’t do himself any favors heading into the race, and it likely bled into his performance on race day no matter what he claims. He built a very high‑pressure environment around himself, and that kind of load can likely trigger the brain’s automatic fight‑or‑flight systems when it comes time to perform. When that happens, athletes typically fall back on familiar techniques, even outdated ones that may have worked once but are actually detrimental now. In Deegan’s case, during the race it looked like he got pushed into some old 250 habits that once worked then he tried to correct it but ultimately it likely hurt him on a 450 at Pala.

It’s one thing to have a chip on your shoulder that’s internal fuel that's ok. But it’s a whole different situation when you wake a sleeping bear, or in this case likely multiple bears, by not showing the rest of the class the respect or dues they feel they’ve earned by providing bulletin‑material to the whole class. That’s when guys may start making your day harder on purpose. You could see it on track: Jett sliced through riders with almost no resistance, while Deegan had to grind for the same passes. Is that because Jett knows them better? Maybe. But RJ flat‑out said he fought to keep Deegan behind him, and that tells you everything about how the class may have responded.

I’ve seen a couple people now mentioning you can’t stuff a 450 into a corner like a 250 and Deegan doing this. Can we stop this narrative?

  1. You have a better chance of being able to stuff a 450 into a corner than a 250 because the 450 has the power to do it, a 250 will bog. 250’s need more roll speed than 450’s.
  2. Deegan has never been the guy to stuff a bike in a corner, he has always had absolutely amazing corner speed with phenomenal momentum. He may be adapting to his new ride, but historically that isn’t his cornering style.
