Prado Flying At The *Public* Track

These Matt Burkeen videos of Prado are really making me a believer.  The dude is reminiscent of Jett but has some serious speed.  The dude might straight up win and I might straight up cheer for him to

That steel frame doesn’t have a chance.

To me his whole deal in MXGP was like ripping a massive hole shot, looking like he’s just cruising with almost zero effort, but then all of the sudden you check the lap times and he’s gapping the field by a huge margin, then slowing down near the end of the race because he’s tired. Add in some blocking if someone caught him and this was his recipe for success in MXGP. It will be interesting to see what he does with a lead, but I predict he’s going to lead a lot of laps but get passed a lot near the end of the moto by Jett, Hunter, Eli, and maybe Haiden.

If he starts well he will finish well.  I don't see him moving through the pack like other contenders with a bad start.

Honestly that’s not far off from how most SX races panned out,  granted the races are much shorter but he definitely faded at the halfway point

Now watch some outdoor prep videos from a year ago of him on the Kawi 😂

Looking forward to seeing Prado outdoors. He really was pretty impressive indoors this year. Even if he is the Spanish Friese!

Spanish. My apologies, it’s late. 🤣

French Friese sounds better than Spanish Friese.

In the UK they build houses next to a track then complain about the track and shut it down

Probably the same playbook as over here; buy land next to a track as it's cheaper because of the track. Then get the track shut down, and the land value increases loads and they rake in the profit.

Check out the Lake Elsinore is Reopening thread; the mayor of Lake Elsinore literally said the city needs the track to be open. Really counter-intuitive to normal thoughts on government.

His 2023 season was pretty much as you described, 100%. His 2024 season though? Didn't really matter where he started, he just blew by everyone most of the weekends (considering he had a bad start which didn't happen too often lol).

Also his 250 title in 2019 is stil the most ridiculous thing I've watched in MXGP other than what Herlings did. Holeshot every single race and be gone after the first corner, everyone just lined up for 2nd place and they knew it. I think that's why people think he can only win when he holeshots but he also proved different. Anyways, I hope we see this 2024 version again..

He certainly has a beautiful riding style.  He stays really light on the bike and seemingly floats around the track.  It will be interesting to see how it translates to the east coast tracks that feature deep track marker to track marker ruts through every corner.  To me, it is strange that he would want to base so much of his training on west coast tracks with smooth, open corners when that is certainly not what he’ll be facing most of the summer.  As I recall, he struggled on wet, rutted tracks in Supercross.

He struggles in mud indoors or out. Always has I think. He almost lost the 2024 MXGP championship because of poor showings in bad weather. There are a lot of tight, rutty MXGP tracks so he may do better on the east coast than west.

People have said the same about Jett’s light flowy style on the east coast or in sand and it always seems to translate just fine! Guess we will see

I don’t think he’ll have much trouble adapting to us outdoor tracks when he’s ridden from France to Iraq to lommel etc.

Prado won a heat race at the SF mudder 2 years ago.

Thomas Kjer Olsen a constant top 2-3 mx2 rider, also a couple wins under his name. Top 9th in his MXGP rookie season in 2021, had a horrific crash in Kegums in 2022, suffered a head injury and a broken back if I remember correctly, was put into a coma aswell. That was his last race sadly.

Thomas Kjer Olsen (spelling).  He crashed hard a few years ago and had a serious brain injury if I recall correctly, forced retirement.
