I never know what to believe anymore. That goes way beyond moto. Some days I wonder are there really any credible sources anymore? A few weeks ago all over FB and cuckoo Cooksey rockstar husky was done, ML says nope heard nothing. Couple hours later rockstar husky was indeed done. More often than not lately where there’s been smoke it’s turned out to be from a fire. Hopefully not the case as it’d be great to see Jett back out there mixing it up. In fairness I do think ML is a standup journalist and tries to get it right. I cannot imagine factory Honda lying but anymore who knows.
The F1 media is even worse.
One of my comments to their stuff is,

I tend to take the moto media with the same grain of salt.
But... ML saying he personally called the source, isn't the average speculation that's flooding YouTube at the moment.

To be fair, I think we can all agree ML, Phillips, DB and others are stand up guys, I think that goes without saying. Perhaps posting about past misinformation is cruel and unfair, despite factual. The fact of the matter is the report is only as reliable as the source. And it's not only injury or contracts we are fed bullshit about by the teams, but you also can't tell me the teams do not know exactly how much faster or less fast speculated riders like Deegan, Temmerman, and Dudney are compared to the riders they train with daily. You can't tell me there is not a story about what is going on with Baker's factory now, they just lost RJ, AP, and Malcolm, none of the other KTM 450 riders train there. There is no story about factory team's real reactions to the mishandling of penalties this SX season? Many other things, it's not a huge industry, nobody knows if Suzuki is going to build a new 450, really nobody? Nobody knows about the two stroke Kawasaki, again nobody? Jason Anderson has raced pro for 15 years, and nobody has heard from him, nobody? Some of these journalists have been involved in this sport for decades and decades, they know who should know what for sure, but the info isn't always available for us in the unwashed masses.

Have people ever read any article ever… what does ‘proof’ look like in an article? Whether it’s a newspaper or something bigger… journalists have the proof which is what they need to write what the proof proves, but we don’t see it… the only time we see it linked is in a scientific journal or a long form internet posted deep dive…

Investigation is a lose/lose from the moto media journalist perspective.
Either waste time/effort confirming the source's information........or find something that doesn't confirm, but publishing means there's a chance you could offend someone influential, making your job more difficult in the future.

Yeah don’t get me wrong I like DB, I think he does a great job but that prediction was waaay out there.
I've heard from multiple different moto media guys tell the same story. They've seen Jett get out of his car at the track, walking with a major limp, and they think damn this isn't good. But then he gets on the bike and he's just Jett, flying. Going by that, I'm not so much wondering if he makes Pala. Its more race two, race three, race four. How is he going to hold up, beating on that bone, dabbing that foot in a corner here and there
Unfortunately, we live in a world, day, and age where facts and truth simply don’t matter. Even when people are presented with tangible, actual, credible, corroborated, substantiated, unequivocal evidence, they still disregard it.
The Honda/Lawrence camps stated exactly what they had to say. Jett is a high-value asset, and in lieu of a press release, everyone must stick to the script. Would be shocking but not surprising if it were announced that Jett was not lining up this weekend.
Just like ian told everyone Prado was fine when he clearly was not during the one Sx race.
I think we all know the "Elephant in the Room". If you tell the truth or report on something not approved by Feld Entertainment, MX Sports, or the "octopus", you lose your Press Pass access and Hard Card. I've even heard of race promoters denying access to people who report on undesirable events. This shit has been going on for too long. We should focus on how to correct it and more importantly enjoy the upcoming 2026 AMA Outdoor Motocross season !!!
They’re probably just cautious to see how Jett’s injury is gonna go. No one really knows until he lines up.
