The difference being Cooksey will continue to be some dude talking to a camera stuck in his garage “leaking” information (some true, some not) while actual media outlets will interview riders, create articles on their websites and be able to report on the racing events that they obtain media passes for and get to attend.

Exactly, Cooksey just had a rumor it was gone, ML has important info like where the support is going, where riders are going and what it means

An if that is true, flat out lied in the other thread about it.

Here's what I know.

1. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna will cease to exist in 2027.

2. The majority of staff and technical effort will become KTM’s 250 program.

3. Ryder DiFrancesco and Daxton Bennick will move to this new KTM effort for 2027.

4. RJ Hampshire, and Casey Cochran are free agents and looking for rides.

5. Teams like AEO, Tedder, and maybe more could have access more factory level materials via Husqvarna

6. Malcolm Stewart I’m a bit lost on.

RJ in place of Marchbanks on Kawasaki would be an upgrade, but maybe an established rather than emerging talent.

Malcolm is way too good to not have a ride, though not sure if Kawasaki is the best place for him over RJ since I expect he would command much more than RJ/Marchbanks.

Ducati looks full, Triumph as noted certainly looks like a huge upgrade to their 450 program.

I feel bad for RJ in all this.  Malcolm will for sure land a good ride.  RJ has a TON to prove this summer and even if does awesome it likely won't be enough to land him an equally good spot on another team.  He got hurt at a really inopportune time.

Yea, it appears Cooksey heard the rumor before anyone else. Guess that makes him a shithead... I hate the guys style and can't watch his vids, but he has been right enough that I don't have confidence in calling him full of shit anymore...

It's time to spool up a 2027 Silly Season thread.

He was also broke the news about the RMATV/Butler Brothers KTM split.  Everyone kind of buried their heads in the sand.  Lest we forger, the only person who asked any tough questions of the Butler Brothers was ironically Chase from RMATV.

So maybe there is a sliver of truth to Webb looking at moving to Tedder?

Was just about to say the same thing. I'm sure many people knew about this weeks before today, but there's a certain decorum and respect to be followed by those people in the know whilst getting everything finalized for the announcement. This affects people's and business's livelihoods and there's a time and place for the right announcement.

This doesn't affect the POS Cooksey at all so he thinks he's breaking news by leaking it before the agreed time. He's just a scumbag with zero integrity and it's a shame that anyone with a bit of inside knowledge would give him any info. Shit, this is the same guy that kept insisting that Jett and his girlfriend we're expecting a baby. The guy is trash

"decorum and respect"? WTF? So all the golf journalists leaking info about LIV's demise had no decorum and respect? Or were they, I don't know, doing their jobs?

If I dealt with a person in real life that was straight with me 50% of the time but the other 50% was lies or fantasy, I would have no problem calling that person full of shit. I don't have the time or desire to try to figure out what is accurate.

When Cooksey is parroting information from a source, he is usually "right". The rest of the time he is spewing non-sense, some of it being pretty disgusting.

We knew KTM was in awful financial shape. It’s no surprise that GG and Husky are getting the axe (so to speak). The racing will still continue.

I wish I could say I'm surprised they are doing this. But with all that they've (KTM family of products) gone through the last few years....is it really a surprise?

Chase is probably looking at his remaining guaranteed 2+ years at Kawasaki a little differently now…

The surprise is letting an energy drink sponsor go. That’s a lot of money not coming in anymore, I can’t see how KTM couldn’t restructure and keep a major sponsor on board..

Yeah we all know this- I was being sarcastic...Because, why go out of your way to post in the other thread (like ML did) stating the riders are signed thru 2027 and there has been no buzz around the pits- When that clearly was not the case.

Unless again, the mainstream media is so out of touch...

I wouldn’t be surprised if Rockstar was going to pull out anyways. So the KTM group probably didn’t have a choice in that.

I’m not going to name call. Cooksey has found his place in the sport and that’s great for him. I don’t care who releases the information first and enjoy the content and information that Vital, RacerX and Pulp provide so that’s where I go to get my information. This forum sometimes provides more in-depth details to that information and I like to hear fans of the sport opinions to understand things from both sides. This is a perfect example of that and to that end, I can understand fans’ frustrations with this scenario where the media has to “play ball” in order to continue to get access to riders, teams and sanctioning bodies, but if one day they all collectively decided “we’re not going to cooperate anymore”, we would get a 1/4 of the already limited information we get in this completely unnecessary secretive sport. Like many aspects of this sport, I’ll just continue eye rolling and move on instead of dwelling on something that won’t get fixed (for now anyway).

Now let’s banter about where Mookie and RJ will end up because they seem to be getting the real shaft in this news drop.

Mookie to Triumph? RJ to a satellite team? Can a satellite team afford that many spare parts? 😅

The bigger question: how long does Bajaj realistically find value in Husky or the Gas Gas brand at all?

I just hope the gas gas name ends up back where it belongs if they axe the brand all together.

The Husqvarna name will likely continue as the Cadillac to KTMs GMC. I'm not sure if the Chevy thing GG has going on is working as expected.

RJ hauls ass outdoors on the 450…. If last year wasn’t a fluke, he’s got regular top 5 speed and conditioning.  Even an occasional podium.  Someone is going to roll that dice, might be Beta.  Not sure that’s a great fit, Beta is more SX here in the US than MX and RJ the opposite.

Malcolm to Triumph almost seems like an automatic…. And JCoop? Wow, this silly season is going to be wild.

Rockstar has been dramatically reducing their involvement in extreme/action sports for a while now. There had been talk of Rockstar pulling all MX/SX support for a minute.

Yep, and Rockstar just jumped back into Nascar after being out of it for several years. I think they chose to leave Husky, not vice versa, and KTM just decided to pull the plug all together.
