It IS steel. When you say chromoly you are referring to high strength steel with chromium and molybdenum alloying elements.
You are right that it is an alloy, as is almost all aluminium.
Agree he’s given a lot, but I’ve learned to never count him out especially after winning several rounds this year. When cairolli came over and raced, I was excited just to watch him race. Guess that’s the way I see it.

I have no arguments here but remember when cycle mags did shootouts involving the Yamaha tiddlers (74,75 era) published data and spec sheets always showed the YZ having Chromoly and the MX having "mild steel". They mentioned it as part of reason for higher cost of YZ vs MX back then. My 2 cents.

Cerakote is not powdered metal. My Friend owns Cerakote and i built the offices.
I wondered if he was referring to coating some metal (knife blade perhaps) with an applied powdered paint process- hence the? in my reply. There's a local gunsmith here doing Cera and have seen multiple motorcycle hubs with the coating.

Nah it's a production process of the metal alloy itself that makes for finer, more consistent grains in a forging. Hitachi, crucible (bought by erasteel), maybe sandvik.
Unless he's 100%, I honestly hope he just rests and heals up rather than come back for Denver or Salt Lake rounds. I want to see him healthy and ready to rip on that KTM outdoors!

I think in 2024 he came back for some Supercross and injured himself again. So he was out for motocross. At this point he should rest and be 100% at Pala motocross round 1. Someone’s not going to make that gate at Pala. Deegan is going to be coming in ready and rested. Who knows with Chase or Prado. Hunter will have Supercross championship hangover if he wins OR loses, and Ken Roczen doesn’t need to worry about this since he doesn’t race motocross anymore. Jett Lawrence is just about to start riding for first time all year who knows if his recovery is going well. Justin Cooper might come out on fire, he beat Tomac straight up in moto 1 at Pala. AP is a question mark. Webb and Anderson probably sit out
