Wow, some of you are so caught up in your Vitarded skirmishes, politics and lack of moto knowledge that you don’t accept or even consider facts. The word covid triggered you guys like a bunch of flat earthers seeing their first globe. As I said, Roger DeCoster and I were talking about the day and he mentioned that Eli has been battling Covid recently, which pretty much fits his results arc. He didn’t say that was the reason, but anyone with a brain knows having the flu does not help. Also, anyone with a brain knows that I would not make shit up, FFS.

A couple other things come to mind from the week in Nashville:

Ian Harrison is truly a nice and honest guy.
Dungey seems happy and way more relaxed in retirement. You guys should try the happy part.
Jeremy’s Holeshot event was a jam packed deal.
722 is a treasure to the sport. He has a gift…and a bog.

Thanks for the info Steve. There are still those here that appreciate your insight.

I don’t know if this has come up, but I hadn’t heard it until Roger told me Saturday right after the races…a few minutes before Lewis spoke to Ian. Roger was saying how frustrated he was with the results, especially given that “his guys” had gone 1-2-3 in the heat race. We were just talking and then he casually said that Tomac has been battling COVID, his second time getting it.

He went on to say that Eli doesn’t like to use medicines and is pretty stubborn about using  holistic methods. He feels that could be a lingering factor, he’s not sure. I was caught off guard, because I hadn’t heard it and people have been theorizing about his results dropoff. Maybe it’s old news, but it seems pretty relevant.

I would never count Eli or Kenny out of this championship and I hope I wasn’t supposed to keep a lid on this info. Roger didn’t say it was off the record or hush hush, so I thought folks might want to know. Personally, I wouldn’t even count out Webb.

Ps. Got there weds night and Nashville is one crazy fucking town! My ears are still ringing!

It's a fair enough comment. Or do you think Webb has performed well this SX season? It's also a fact he has repeatedly underperformed outdoors on the 450, or not bothered competing at all. As for his weight issues, he has addressed these himself...

If my memory serves me correctly, Bauer’s rep as a bonafide moto insider is matched by his rep as a hilarious shit-stirrer, so I naturally take some of his posts with that in mind.

That said, it’s interesting that Ian didn’t reveal this information during the course of his interview with a working journalist. Did the team want to keep Eli’s health situation private and Roger effed up?

Believe me, I thought about it long and hard before posting it.  We were just talking, leaning against the trailer. He was understandably frustrated because what looked to be a good night had ended badly. He said that Eli had caught Covid for the second time and that wasn’t helping the situation. We talked about the USGP at Carlsbad and other stuff. It was just talking, not an interview. He knows I’ve written lots of stuff over the years, mostly for Cycle News. He didn’t say it was off the record, or not to mention it. I never gave it a second thought until last night. I hope Roger isn’t angry, or Eli either. Hopefully it’s not an issue…it didn’t seem like one when he said it. Eli could win the next three races, just like he did four races ago.

Well I cant speak to the source or validity of the post but I've done a handful of build-peak-injury/illness-recovery-rebuild phases and that seems to be what's going on with eli.

He's gotten better every single week for 3 weeks. IF this is true information, then the timeline is right. This week we
got qualifying back and the heat back, although he didnt yard malcolm like usual. In the main, he seemed to have it at first, then not, then crashed. If there's been an illness keeping him from riding during the week that explains the discomfort on the motorcycle too.

Idk - at this point with zero information from them it seems to me that this is as equally likely as sports betting fraud or another broken leg that he's skimming whoops with.

Pretty sure Bauer is credible when it comes to moto.

That’s what I was thinking.

It’s not like some myth that illness can do this to you. I went on my third run today post injury and I didn’t even focus on nutrition and ran basically fasted and  that combined with a little loss of adaptation had me looking like a beginner. It’s real dude.

If he’s been sick I can see it being literally impossible for him to ride past 85% sustained and not train during the week that much.

If that’s the case - we see him next year. I don’t bet Eli is gonna be alright going out this way.

And during qualifying, it seemed like tomac did 5 heater laps. I thought dang, someone’s on a mission to get the train back on the tracks.

Zinc and Quercetin are frequently paired in supplements to support immune health and respiratory function, often featuring dosages around 20 – 50 mg of zing and 500 – 1000 mg of quercetin. Quercetin acts as a zinc ionophore, enhancing zinc absorption into cells to potentially improve antiviral effects and reduce inflammation.

Key Benefits and Uses:

  • Synergistic Immune Support: Together, they act as powerful antioxidants to neutralize free radicals, ease oxidative stress, and bolster immune system response.
  • Enhanced Absorption: Quercetin assists in transporting zinc across cell membranes, overcoming the difficulty zinc often has in penetrating cells
  • Respiratory & General Health: This combination is used for seasonal immune support, maintaining healthy respiratory function, and enhancing skin health.
  • Common Formulations: They are often combined with Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, or bromelain for enhanced efficacy, such as in Q Defend capsules
  • Dosage Information: Typical dosages include 22mg to 50mg of zinc and 500mg to 1000mg of quercetin.

Back on topic...

Covid and the silence around it checks out.

  • Denies being injured
  • Results and riding speak for themselves across the past month
  • Likely combined with comfort/set up issues of late - hard pack issues reared their head from earlier in the year, gnarly St Louis track
  • Probably was feeling better at Nashville before a bad set up choice for the main on one of the worst tracks of the year. Lingering brain fog?

I'm not 100% sure of the culture surrounding COVID over there, but I would assume its not something that you publicly advertise at risk of being sidelined, isolated or whatever? Not legally speaking, but would other riders/industry alienate you a little for bringing it to the race track? Genuine question, forgive my ignorance.

@MC943  that's plain being a prick, asshole, ignorant little fucktwat.

My daughter has a nose ring, is a nurse, a conservative,  and had to fight getting the jab. She didn't.

You just blanket statement'd an entire subculture.

Just to be ”clear”, you use ANY opportunity to shit on Webb.  You have a “clear” case of Webb Derangement Syndrome.  Is that “clear” enough?

Good grief man, seek help or go outside and get some fresh air.  Better yet, take a couple of years break from posting.
