I was going through a box of old pictures yesterday and came across this picture of Opee out practicing at Ocotillo Wells so I took a pic. I forget the owners name 😄 They took off after I took this and they were motoring…. not slow by any stretch 😮😎
Awesome pictures sumdood! Opee was a badass Dawg! 🐕🦺 🙂
The last picture looks like 1 of the Shorthairs I had. They are such an awesome bread.

Done by my co-workers daughter. Very talented young gal. She just started an Etsy store and charges $60 for these puppies.
We've had 10 friends in and out of our cabin, and campsite this weekend.
Ollie was in hog heaven with all of the attention.
And yesterday after everyone was on their way back home, he was like "where'd everyone go??"

Haven't laughed that damn hard in a while.
So funny!😂
Got this girl around Christmas, 20 weeks old now

5 weeks ago today Willow and I went for a walk in a light rain and she's never been the same. She got stoved up that night and a trip to the vet the next day showed arthritis in her spine and hips. After a few weeks of Rymadol, gabapentine, tramadol and an antibiotic as well as adding glucosamine to her diet she actually was going downhill, her rear legs getting more uncoordinated.
So starting last Friday we are doing k laser treatment as well as a shot of Librella today, which is the dog version of what Joey Bridges gives his cat. Thanks Joey for the suggestion. Just hoping to get her back to where she was 5 weeks ago, slightly dragging a leg when she is tired. Supposedly she is only 6 or so. (I found her 3 years ago).
Awesome brother.
We're charged with the care of our pets.
Learning to read them closely is a must.
Made my day knowing I may have helped you and your kid. 😃
Home from the vet and resting.
So Willow has been noticeably calmer recently and my wife is wondering if it is the gabapentin we put Willow on. My wife takes it for her hot flashes and random acts of throwing things at me.
Thoughts on dogs taking gabapentin?
Jenn gives Ollie gabapentin.
Not sure of the dosage, or how often.
We try to walk him at least once a day.
You can tell some days it takes it's toll on him. But we're told keeping him up and as active as possible is good for him.
This is Izzy, one of my old college friend's dogs who on occasion I would baby sit. Sadly Izzy passed away on Feb 27th. Izzy was a great dog and I'm not sure what breed or breeds she was. She had some strange habits. For one when you let Izzy out into the back yard so she could do her business, she would just stand in the middle of the back yard and stare at the window that overlooked the back yard. She wanted a human to be out there before she would do her doody, (or pee pee). I think this must have gone back to her initial training as a pup.
Whata cutie.💯
None of them liked the new hat.
My dog is on 100mg of gabapentin from a recent surgery. Her eyes get a little glassy and she looks like she’s been hanging out with Cheech and Chong. She stays chilled out on the couch and sleeps more.
Our oldest dog (11 years) had back issues that started a couple of years ago. Got so bad she would just hunch her back if she was up, but basically she was just unable to move without a lot of pain. Surgery was not an option due to her age.
We tried laser therapy, message/ doggy chiro, acupuncture, etc but not much seemed to help her. Our youngest daughter is a vet tech and gets us 100mg gabapentin and methocarbamol that she now takes every day.
She finally realizes she can't chase the ball anymore, so she knows her limits now (our younger dog is 3 and loves to chase the orange ball- but our older one just watches now).
But she is completely normal and jumping on the couch/ bed etc like when she was young. Occasionally even gets a little feisty and play fights with our younger dog.
Pit Row
Trying not to get pissed. ..jump to conclusions etc.
I'll post something up in a month or so about managing MY DOGS health care rather then trusting the science.
I have a feeling I just spent a bunch of money reacting to the side effects of the gabapentin, which includes loss of coordination in the rear end, rather then the arthritis which i thought was causing it.
Anyways, like I said, we will see.
My latest edition.
Well, that one's torn it, T-Fish !
I've got 1 each 5 and 7 year old Girls in my Workshop, right now, as it's School Holidays, and their parents across the road suddenly had to go into Town, so, 'Mr Bear' has stepped in as Small Person Handler.... I've K-12 Teaching qualifications, with Every Bloody Police Check known to Man done on me, so, I'm 'safe'. With all the little kids around my area, I regularly get called on.
No problem, I love it. I just make sure the workshop is safe, and / or, get my Crazy Old Mum that I took in, to help a bit - though, she's a bloody Menace, at times, but, it perks her up.
To get to it : said Children, have just got a new Puppy - a Bulldog, that looks just like yours. And, I showed them your picture. Which has now led us to start to go all the way through this Pups thread.
Have to tear them away from it, so we are collecting Buddy ( the Pup ) and going for a walk to the river. He fits in nicely into one of my Old Man's Vietnam era canvas shoulder bags, so, off we go, to the river - me on my Crutches, and the Girls charging along.
Ever noticed how (wonderfully) "Ratbaggish" little Girls are nowadays - they seem to be just about as Kamikaze as Boys.
Coincidentally, I named this little guy “Buddy”. He’s a near twin to the first bulldog I’ve ever had. The biggest difference is that Buddy has one white paw, where Duke had no white paws. The fact he looks almost identical to Duke is why I chose him. I had a certain number in the back of my head for what I was okay with spending on a pup until I saw him. It honestly is a situation where I think fate led this guy to me, so I was almost willing to spend anything on him.
How much is a pup like him? If you don’t mind me asking.
You can usually expect to spend a solid $3k for an English Bulldog. That’s about what my first bunch cost me. I have seen them for under that, and under $2k, but that’s what I start to worry about the quality. It is always best to do your research on the bloodline, if and when possible. A good breeder will have the answers to all of your questions and won’t try to hide anything. This little turd, he was $5,600. If I choose to not have him neutered, it’ll cost me another $900.
That’s a lot of cash, I had no idea. Thanks!
Back in the early 80's my ex and I decided on getting a bloodhound.
We had miles of trails out behind our place for mt. biking.
Did tons of research on breeders.
Ended up driving to Oklahoma to meet with one. Hell, she interviewed the hell out of us, about our income, our area we were getting ready for him, even had a conversation with our vet.
Finally was able to get the pick of her latest litter for over $1,500. At the time that was a shitload. She then gave us the runt of that same litter for free.
Two of the best dogs I've ever had in my life.
Well mannered, funny, and could run trails all day long at a medium pace.
I'd hate to think of what a top quality hound would go for these days.
You pup is a beauty.
My older Brother recently got 2 pups, after waiting a while after the death of their previous pups.
They were a Jack Russell, that was Definitely the Boss of the other 2, GIANT ( and one of them, Very Bloody Scary ) Rotties. All lived to venerable ages.
So, first they got a little girl Jack Russell - a real Cutie, and, somewhat unimaginatively called Jacky.
I Want To Steal Her!
That little blighter set him back $1800 - not much, apparently, by well bred and documented JR standards.
Then last week, they got another Rottie. Forgot the name, something that starts with 'B'.
That , somewhat Larger little blighter, cost $8,000 AUD ................. 😵
His money, and he's got sh*tloads of it.
I have told him, if he makes This One a Vicious Mongrel, like he did with one of his previous Rotties, I'd unceremoniously Beat The Crap Out Of Him! My Brother, that is.
I can't understand someone who makes a dog into a Psychopath, when all it's supposed to be is a family pet. I had to make sure my Old Mum only went to visit with me, and, even then, I was Very Blood Wary of one of the Rotties, it was that bloody dangerous, even to family members. So far, this one's a real Sweetie.
She took him to physical therapy today.
She sends me this...
In my next life, I want to come back as your dog.
