Keefer recently posted a vid on the racerx YouTube of a modified 25 kx250. Seems he really liked the modded bike.
I’m picking up a new 2025 KX250 tomorrow for $5,999 plus license and paperwork. I’ve read the concerns about the Kawi but I couldn’t justify $10k for a KTM. As long as the engine doesn’t blow up I’ll be happy
For those that have been riding green for a while and this bike in particular, how has durability been so far? Might be interested in going green due to rebate pricing and it seems you can make these things amazing with a couple of modifications. There has just always been talk about some durability issues with the KX platform and I have zero experience with the brand.
I bought a new 25 KX250x a few months ago for $7000 plus tax otd. Great price and I love the bike. It works great for me in the woods and on the mx track. But I'm a plus 60 vet b rider.

I'm sitting here eating my breakfast thinking the same thing...
(Except I don't already have one)
Not a ‘25, but
• Manufacturer Rebates: Kawasaki is offering up to $2,500 in savings on the 2024 KX250 through August 31, 2025. This incentive applies to select new, unregistered KX250 models at participating dealerships, though it cannot be combined with promotional retail financing rates.
Hard to justify buying a used other brand when you can get a new KX for the same price. Won’t have the resale value but when you save that much up front who cares
Coming from a 2017 Honda CRF450R and reading MXA for decades, I too was nervous when going green back in 2020. Three 450's later, each accumulating over 100+ hours with zero headaches or mechanicals, has led me to believe Kawasaki durability has gotten a bad rap over the years. Chase the M6 threads on the subframe, keep up on oil changes, run good air filters, and you'll likely find happiness with the KX250/brand.
I firmly believe that the better you take care of a bike, the more it will take care of you. This ideology fits owning Kawasaki's well in my experience. Hard to beat some of the lowest OTD pricing and awesome contingency for those who race. Resale value is the biggest detriment compared to other manufacturers like Honda/Yamaha/Austria, but what do you expect with yearly rebates and low buy-in? If you're in the market for a fun 250F, hard to go wrong with the KX250. Plus, Pro Circuit replicas are some of the cleanest designs around if you need any build inspiration or want a true garage queen!
At $5999 you can blow one up every 75 hours and still come out ahead!
A buddy of mine just bought two 25s, one an X model for GNCC stuff.
A lot depends on the rider and mechanic. If you are a fast A guy nothing lasts. I know a fast local kid that wears a 250 out in about 50 hours. But my old slow Vet ass can get 150 hours out of one with normal maintenance. My formula is 1 hour of wrench time for every 3 hours ride time.
You must be going to Power. Tough to pass up that deal!
Just picked one up for $6648 otd from Seacoast Powersports in NH. Easy dealer to work with had me in and out in 15 min. Like every new bike had very little or zero grease. Took the day to get everything taken care of. Added the Rev 3D screen less air filter cage and XPR has a template of where to add some airbox holes. Can’t wait to ride it tomorrow.
Those Kawi's look so good!!! Like big green piece of Moto candy!!! 🤪
Yes power in Sublimity. I offered the local Harley Davison to match the price but they were still $1,200 high
I read where they are reinforcing the welds on the chain guide mount and the exhaust silencer mount. They have been prone to break. Not sure if the 25 has this problem but they did it to the 24 model..Go get one and let the shredding begin!!!
I'm a Honda for life type of guy. I've had many Kawis before, and to me they're just ok, but generally I bleed red. I saw the current discounts, so I started searching and came across this thread.
Pulled the trigger today, couldn't say no to a 2026 for $5,999 otd. I'll do a pipe, airbox mod, remap, and springs for 160lbs and still be in it less than any other color.
Let the good times roll!
Notice how Keefer praises that bike now after he got backlash for saying they only handle like 30 hours on a crank. Trying to backpedal to make TG happy
I spoke to a mechanic today who said similar. He felt that while they perform well, if you ride them hard, you need to rebuild them or get a new one by 50hrs.
I thought that was a know thing with Kawasaki 🤷♂️
Pit Row
Turns better and more stable than a yz250f is hard to believe, and apparently faster as well 😂... Basically rides itself! Flatter whips, wheelies through the whoops, the greenest radiator shrouds you can buy! Your mom told me she wishes your dad had bought a kx250 so she didn't have to sleep around, and your aunt agreed, said she can't stand that orange bike your uncle bought.
I did ride a kx250 from 04-09, it was pretty sweet but I did have to premix the gas...
