Fox and Bell helmets already have recessed cups in the EPS for comms.
I think Club or Star train with them in already.
It’s like everyone is ready except the sanctioning body.
As long as it’s not used for strategy I’m ok with it.
This sport is man and machine, not man machine and spotter telling you where to go.
I don’t think it’s the magic bucket people think it is though. People hardly listen when your having a one on one conversation evening when in the middle of a race.
I think the only riders that need comms is Freise and Morantz….every team connected to them so they get absolutely verbally railed by everyone for being asshats!
Should have mic’ed up Eli last night…bleep….bleep…get out of my…bleep…

Whats next? Spotters? Electronic suspension adjusting for changing track conditions? Pitstops to change out your gate tire? Yeah lets have a pit lane with mandatory stops. Riders standing in the back of gators being driven around the track for introductions. Soo 👬
Moranz was weird last night, dude would not get tf out of the way.
It wasn’t just last night….he just roadblocks while Friese weaves all over the track…
Who here that has a problem with communications has direct experience using them?
Not sure what the fuss is about.
Yea that was 100% setup to prepare fans for comms coming to the sport. There was no need to have ac talking to jb while hes riding around the track unless it was for that. Gonna be interesting.
I know the core folks don't like comms but I'm all for it. Solves a lot of problems, especially with track safety
Check this out, The flags are a comm system!
tried and true technology, operated from several vantage points along the track, if the riders ignore the flags they are also going to ignore a voice in their ear
Hot take, electronic suspension would be awesome in say a full works bike class. Id really like to see more and better advancements in dirt bike tech. If they start running a pit lane and mandatory pit stops then maybe the old guys can have their 45+ 60+ minute long motos again.
Before they get comms, how about fixing timing and scoring?
Team: "Yo Vince, you gotta get out of the way, the leaders are coming". Vince: "Suck it".
About frickn time... sounds like wsx is running them this fall...
There needs to be a time limit for communication. 10-15 seconds per lap or something like that.
*from team to rider
Easy there cowboy, I think we are just talking about improving rider safety here not completely revamping the sport.
lololol "never change AMA"
Pit Row
I like your dog, but this take is not the best.
I doubt they would do away with flags, comms would be an extra layer of communication.
Flags aren’t perfect - if not in your line of sight you don’t see them. Verbal can be heard at all times regardless of where you are looking.
I think one way from race director to riders for specified safety circumstances is a good starting point for now.
Examples - red flag, medical flag at xxx location on track, yellow flags.
I’m not jumping supercross triples but the Cardo System is pretty good and was super easy to get used to being able to talk to other riders.
It’s a game charger for my riding now.
Like any other technology, fixes one problem and creates 10 more. 7 that that nobody thought about.
Been using comms for years in my helmets. This isn't going to be any kind of issue.
They can set everything up now that they could be used only in specific spots. So say your mechanic can only chatter in your ear when you are going by the mechanic's area.
As opposed to officials getting on there and telling someone of a "wheels on the ground situation" make it an audible tone that is localized and triggered with a properly used light system. Could have a different tone for blue flag.
Any issue that would arise is from poor implementation/enforcement from officials. So yeah, ignore my second sentence in the 1st paragraph. Gonna be LOTS of issues since they still can't figure out flags.
I keep mentioning that Feld owns Monster Jam and already has the remote ignition cut off systems they could easily install on every bike....
Jump over a red cross flag? BIKE CUTS OUT!
Boy are we gonna get a lot of 'i didn't hear you' shit.
Full blown call of duty lobby over the headsets lol.
Would be good if only race control could speak to the field about track hazards, cautions. But no team strategy comms direct to riders
Works for NASCAR, it’d work great for moto. As for team strategy, just make sure the channels are all open for the public to listen to, and record them so anyone calling for a take out would be penalized.
The kill switch would compliment the comms perfectly.. I’d love to see the AMA shut frezzee off after a cross-jump to block move under a blue flag like he did to ET last night.. asshat..
It's a no brainer and silly at this point that they don't use it in moto, if only for safety.
We used to use walki-talkies with ear pieces literally 25 years ago when I was teaching Tony D moto schools. They were invaluable for communication and vastly improved the safety of each session. "Rider down? Okay, where? Are they okay? Somebody is already helping them? Great. No? Do we need to pause?"
Simple stuff. In SX it could be incredibly helpful.
They're affordable systems now and there's no reason to not use them other than tradition.
Yeah, and manditory fuel stops! 🤣
Comms were outlawed 45yrs ago, about a week after the tech hit the general public.
